I still think this map was pretty well written and acted. Sure its apart from the main story but I think it's rather awesome. Plus, the new game looks okay with it's characters and the Shadow Man.
this map has to be my favorite because the situation that they're being put through and how their back story led them there
Every time Sal says "do you think the city will be just as you left it" I think of Shadows
Technically SoE and MotD are in the same universe, but not the same city. MotD is obviously in Alcatraz next to San Francisco, and SoE is in a different place but I can't remember what that city was called.

It was never confirmed, but I believe Morg City was supposed to be Chicago. Not sure about that though.

These characters deserve so much more credit. They are without a doubt the best developed characters in zombies. The other protagonists are just jokes and fourth wall breaking. These characters have the best personalities in my opinion. Billy doesn't regret anything he has ever done. Sal just wants all of this to stop. Finn regrets all the bad he has done and wants to make it right and treats this like a punishment. Al wanted respect and to be noticed but failed in the process. The mob of the dead story is far more detailed than the original blops 2 story. It is far more intriguing and interesting. In my opinion, mob of the dead is the most detailed map in zombies history. So much detail and effort was put into this and it payed off.
I completely agree. The characters are so deep in story, and the map is extremely fun and a TON of things were done right on this map.
The only thing that annoys me is when you get spawn trapped, you electrocute the zombies but the just re-spawn 4 foot away then you have to revive yourself, down, down. Dead

the amount of backstory that richtofen has is insane though, and he has an amazing voice actor, and mob of the dead is part of the main storyline, the ancient evil who controls the zombies in Motd loses power and then alot of other shit happens, than samantha teleports to the aether and she can control the zombies because the ancient evil is powerless now. and then bo1 and bo2 happen
tyler derby I know. THEY should make the zombies maps. Which sounds weird but I think they're a bit better at making zombies maps than the actual zombie team.
Unreal map, unreal characters, unreal experience. This map is the best map for making you feel as if you are one of the characters. My favourite map to date.

The movie about some guys in Alcatraz with ghost powers when zombies attack and they try to escape by using a plane and crash it into the Golden Gate Bridge and electrocute themselves to escape the zombies and realize they're trapped in a cycle of death

AbstractFeel for real! usually its not a big deal i can handle it but this actually hurt me inside
10 year old me definitely didn't realize how deep this was. But the song and the characters stuck with me.
Now I came back, 8 years later. 18 years old and more mature. I listen to every word they say and connect all the dots. This was the best map I have ever played in my life, along with some of the most amazing characters. I doubt I will ever forget just how many good memories I have from these days... Ah, if only anyone knew what I'd give to relive them one last time.
You know what they say. "We didn't know we were making memories, we were just having fun". And I finally realize how true that is...

My favorite map ever, nothing else like it. Their crimes (sins) brought them to Alctatraz (Hell) and they want to escape but they keep failing and its a never ending cycle. God how much I relate to this story, specifically Billy. Repentless, fearless, and violent. No other Zombies map or Mode can outdo what this has done

Finn O'Leary has to be one of my favorite characters in the entire zombies series. I love how he is in a constant tug of war with his morals with being a mobster and wanting to fix all the harm he's done and 'break the cycle'. Sal Deluca is similar to this and when he gets to the GGB he actually yells up at the heavens how helpless he is and wondering why all this is happening. They're amazing filler characters and a refreshing change from Richtofen's craziness and the new four characters.

By far my favorite map. The experience, memories, & investment. Everytime I started up my PS3 and played with my friends, I wanted to play this map, even as new maps came out. The characters, environment, story, weapons, all phenomenal.
This map is all a big lesson. Best map ever. I've never seen a map impact so many people like this. Everyone who likes cod should see this

It doesn't matter how many times I watch this it still gives me goosebumps. I feel as if we're playing with real people's lives, and the emotions, regret, anger, lust, they're all so real to the scenario. It's almost as if you are the characters, and that's what makes MOTD one of the best maps ive ever played

This map can get to you, the lore was very dark and the characters just gave you a feel. It was one of the maps that actually ended the game after the main Easter egg which I find unique.

Jesus christ i never realised how deep this map, the characters and the quotes were when me and my friends played this as kids but now coming back to it, this is so depressing fr. The fact that all 4 characters have differing views on the cycle they’re stuck in ranging from fear to regret all the way to anger is just phenomenal.

This was the one zombies map I never played... its a pity that looking back now it looked like an absolutely amazing one that I missed out on.

Damn bro, you definitely missed out. This map was peak, easily my favorite zombies map oat. Bo2 and the season pass are only $15 on the Microsoft store rn, I downloaded it again the other night and it feels like I’m 12 years old all over again. Just as fun as I remembered it
The music followed by their little speeches gave me major goosebumps amazing work even if it is outdated still brought a tear to this cod veteran!

Came across this trailer trough my recommendations. Got me chills as I was thinking about what a great time it was. I loved the characters, they where fun and had a cool story. Loved the map very much. I've played it over and over and over again. I miss it.

Mob of The Dead is by far, the greatest Zombies Map, in a long time!!!!!
Intro - They start with Revolvers.
Gameplay - They start with standard pistols you always get.
Those revolvers are the Bloodhounds from Shadows of Evil since MotD and SoE are in the same universe, they just wanted them to use the Colt M1911s in game since that was the theme for all the maps up until Origins.
+Jared Woo The mythical escape plan involved those weapons. As theories state they died and are now in a sort of hell. They wouldn't have them as they already died

I agree. The Location, Alcatraz, was a genius idea. Afterlife added a little bit of innovation, and adds critical thinking because using your afterlives wisely is a necessity. And the Zombies look cooler than in other maps in my opinion. I also like that there are multiple routes to different locations, like you can take the Gondola or the Citadel Tunnels down to the Docks. And the Hell's Retriever is extremely fun to use.

This map, will always be my favorite anything for a video game. It was so well made and had so much time put into the story. It truly humbles me every time I watch this trailer. I wish other video game company's made stuff this touching and epic.

I just found this....after 2 years of playing...never got tired of this...but there was a time when zombies became unpopular as what it ever was...so i stopped and..3 months ago, i started with some fellas again!!! and its awesome i love this map best one ever the characters are amazing this will always have a place in my memorie and heart..its special to me and i hope treyarch someday remakes it or just adds new things or just on bo3 something like this..i'll never say that i stopped lovin zombies...you cant change the past really i wish i could but i cant...i dont regret a damn thing for stopping playing this for some months...hope you guys out there feel the same...i just beated the easter egg after 2 years i only feel emptyness inside...

This is why MoTD is my favorite black ops 2 zombies map. Nice scary destroyed alcatraz feel, cool characters, weapons and storyline. Almost 2 years old, and its still one of the best.

I really love the 'meaning' of this easter egg - it really makes me think. They're trapped in an endless cycle of punishment, fear, death, and suffering for god knows how long. Break the cycle, and they are free. I know this is call of duty, but...

I find it poetic in the sense that the characters are cornered because it conveys the fact that they are there for eternity, repeating a cycle, and never actually dying. It doesn't matter if they are cornered at all
