There are a huge number of Brits and Irish living in Perth. Its well known that there are more British born people in the northern suburbs of Perth (near Joondalup) than anywhere else in Australia. Why? Hot dry summers. Perfect beaches. Large houses. Less congestion. You get to a Perth beach easily within 15 minutes or less, as Perth stretches/sprawls extensively north and south. So you can be 3 suburbs from the beach in Perth in cheap housing, but only 10-15 minutes by car. Near major train route into the city and freeways. Laid back and relaxed and lots of trees and parks. Nice video. Disclaimer - came from recommendations and i have no issues with people moving here, that being said, study thee town you plan to live in. Be aware that every year we have bad fires and bad floods, and the more houses that get built, the worst the flood gets. Just a month ago, half my town went under water due to the newest houses had changed the path of the flood waters. Plus depending on the town, the more houses, the more stress farmers have on trying to keep all / most of their land. Also keep in mind, our towns and cities are not really built for a constant high amount of traffic, take Sydney for example. There are towns running out of room to expand. Yes our country is large, but 90%+ of it is unlivable. I don't live in a city so that could be why my views sound "harsh". Most towns cannot keep up with the growing population and demand for more jobs and more buildings, i've seen so many new houses being built straight into flood zones where that would either make those houses get damaged/destroyed or severely change the path of flood waters, causing harsher floods. So yeah, if you plan to live here, study the town and be aware, because most housing developers don't warn you about the floods. Plus, prices are increasing like mad man.
Your videos are really helping my decision! Everything down to shopping. Seeing each item to price it’s a more realistic and approachable way of finding these small but key things out. Thankyou so much ! :)
Cheers Ross for the informative video on the comparison between life in the 2 countries and what you enjoy about Australia. Most people I have meet that have come to Australia from the UK and embrace the lifestyle usually do love it here in Australia. Yes we are definitely laidback here in Aus 😂👍

Sydney is much less affordable than Melbourne, you are definitely acting like someone who's been living in Brisbane, which is actually wet, humid and full of bugs,,,, like Sydney. And Melbourne was the most liveable city in the world for 7 years in a row, what a convenient thing to not mention.
Love your channel man! i am laughing while getting entertained with new knowledge about living in Australia.. Another thing you may want to add is that in Australia the opportunities are amazing. You can do and achieve anything here. We've been here for over 50 years now and would never leave. Oh and by the way the other brilliant thing is there basically is no class distinction
I’m from Italy and only lived in oz for 2 years especially in a situation with covid. For me Australia is the best country. Never thought I’d find someone who loves Australia as much as I do. London’s great but it’s also hell incarnate at the same time with ridiculous living costs; the cons simply heavily outweigh the very short pros list
I moved to Sydney back in 2005 and bought my first home in 2011. It was a downgrade - smaller and older, but its since gone from 430k to 1.9 million. Best investment of my life.

I don't know if any of you know the original third and fourth versus of our national anthem ( Advance Australia Fair. When gallant cook from Albion sail'd, To trace wide oceans o'er, True British courage bore him on, Til he landed on our shore. Then here he raised Old England's flag, The standard of the brave; "With all her faults we love her still" "Britannia rules the wave." In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance, Australia fair. While other nations of the globe Behold us from afar, We'll rise to high renown and shine Like our glorious southern star; From England soil and Fatherland, Scotia and Erin fair, Let all combine with heart and hand To advance Australia fair. In joyful strains then let us sing Advance, Australia fair.

Love your videos. Can’t wait to migrate with my family Australia is really an amazing country the best just hoping we get through asap. Migration is a bit difficult and long process and waiting period is long .
I moved from Auckland to Christchurch a few years ago but it didn't hit the spot although great for the kids, we were interested in Brisbane but settled for Christchurch. Now I'm suddenly feeling drawn TO Australia. Just not feeling it in NZ and Ive lived here my whole life. I just resonate better with Australian culture and even my Aussie relatives. They're nicer. My partner's job is 25k more for the same job here in NZ. The beaches, forests and mountains are beautiful here and that's all I'm really going to miss. I'm not use to Snakes, Sharks, Spiders and Crocs (thought I've read they're up north) but I'm sure we're fine if we swim between the flags? Lol
Way back in the late 50's early 60's we had a lot of migration from Italy and Greece (Melbourne being the 2nd largest Greek speaking community in the world outside of Athens) and kept within there own, just don't be like that and mix with the broader community
Alan I was born in the 50s here in Aus. I made many wonderful Italian, Greek friends in my teenage years, still friends with an Italian girl and her husband after all these years. Married I had a few Italian, Greek, Macedonian and English neighbours, all friendly funny, welcoming and funny. The English girl was so funny, loved the heat more than the locals. We’d all swap recipes. But I learned ever to joke to an Italian about food lol. Dear Italian lady across the road said she was making pizza for dinner - I said ‘jokingly’ as us Aussies do, “send one over my way” She did, she took me seriously. Oh she was a dear soul. So I mixed quite easily with people from different countries moving here, I still do, with people from other countries coming here now - the diversity of food restaurants is fantastic and I love hearing about their culture, how and why they came here. Some wonderful, some really heroic stories they’ve told me.
This video is phenomenal, for any YT video. I'm in NZ and really like it but am researching AUS. I need a bit more of everything, people (numbers and diversity), salary, things to do, better shops, nearer (still far hehe) to the rest of the world
Interesting video, did you carry on being a teacher over there ?, I'm currently a Media College teacher in the UK, but I am looking at moving to Australia and doing something in that field.
I've got my working holiday visa and I'm looking at heading over shortly. I just finished uni and I'll be going alone, very exciting but also very nervous! Since you went as a family our situations aren't very similar, but any input on how to socialise and meet people or advice for people going solo? One of my worries is just being lonely once I'm there. Very informative video thanks!
I wish I had done what you're doing when I was your age. My only advice would be to try everything you can and immerse yourself in as many different experiences as you can. You'll find people to mix along with on the way, and you'll no doubt make some awesome friends. Good luck!
After all that I'm staying put in Australia. But I need to get to the UK some day. I just want to be cold for a while. Ain't no glory in being completely perfect...
@@ThatJohnstonLife I can relate to that, mate. Thanks. I shouldn't complain really because I'm kicking off again for another winter of ballooning. Come on Ross, we don't want too many people coming over here. We show them the "bad" and "scary" stuff so only those that are tough enough to brave the trip come here. Most that get here want to stay or go home to get another visa to get back! My parents were some of the last "10 pound Poms" and came in '69, so although I was born here I was called a Pom as well through younger life. As many as a quarter of my school was made up of families the same but from many European countries. Most of my best friends were from Slavic, Italian, Netherlands families but mainly UK. I guess we do seem to be sort of "chilled out". I think we have all sort of grown up realising there is always time for a beer at the end of the day, so even a crap day can still end with a beer and a smile

Im 7th gen Aussie, and count quite a few convicts who had the good fortune to be sent here, in my lineage. Im writing to assure you that not all australians work in a trench, labour on road construction, drive a truck in the mines etc. If youre worried about understanding the local slang the little that is used in everyday places is easy to grasp. If youre going to be wearing a suit, or smart casual clothes [ casuals] to work then youll understand 95%. Yes I use a few, not because Im lazy or poorly educated but normally because [ as one person has pointed out] Im telling a funny story, and the vernacular suits. There are millions in this country who speak regular english , sometimes with the aussie accent yes.... and its "no probs". I would like to point out that the stress and accent is harder to read, it's been said that "mate" can mean many things indicated by the manner of deliverance and content. "Duffer" is friendly, bloody drongo, less so, and so on. I see this as no different from the way feelings and ideas are expressed in other english speaking countries. Our slang is fun but you dont have to master it. If youre confused about ordering a beer-just ask-!

Inspirational shizzle brother, love it. Moving end of the year to Brisbane from the UK.
Best of luck!
Your videos are really helping my decision! Everything down to shopping. Seeing each item to price it’s a more realistic and approachable way of finding these small but key things out. Thankyou so much ! :)
Are you from the uk? I’m really thinking about moving to Melbourne as it looks great, England is too cold🤣

Cheers Ross for the informative video on the comparison between life in the 2 countries and what you enjoy about Australia. Most people I have meet that have come to Australia from the UK and embrace the lifestyle usually do love it here in Australia.
Yes we are definitely laidback here in Aus 😂👍
Love the lifestyle
Love this video! Me, my beautiful wife and ankle biters are moving to Perth in a weeks time. Your videos have been great to watch, and humorous. Seems like you have already adopted the Aussie attitude.
Moved to Oz from Scotland in the early sixties. Lucky to travel extensively with the family to all parts but we are always glad to return. Love it the people the place the lifestyle.
I remember watching you go to Aus, you guys have done so well.
We I am moving out in June you southern softie.

I've been checking out your videos along with several other channels about moving to Australia. I am working on finishing up my Bachelor's degree here in the US and I hope to be able to get a job in Oz after graduating and to migrate there. The US' political climate scares me more each day, wish me luck and thanks for your informative videos.
The gimuns scare me more. Wish you all the best with your move
Yes! Australians are very friendly. Working in an international airline, I meet them every day at the airport, they're very friendly people.
Great to know, thanks Esther
This was such a fun video to watch since I'm a Brit living in Aus.
I’m fifteen but for as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to live in Australia

Thanks Alex, hope your journey goes well!
You’ll be fine, just don’t go around saying throw a shrimp on the barbie or that you think Vegemite sucks. People get a bit surly about those topics. Hope you have a great experience while you’re here.
Very true. So glad you're enjoying it.

Some great reasons to move to Australia but im happy living here in Tasmania but enjoy. ATB
That coffee machine at home pays itself off within months especially when great coffee beans are on sale for half price and you don’t have to run down to your local coffee shop as soon as you roll out of bed. Love my coffee.

I am an Aussie that moved from Sydney to Basel in Switzerland ten years ago. We moved from Switzerland to Essex and have been here for seven years. I grew up in Forster Tuncurry and have saltwater in my veins. It has been difficult and can't wait to return. (Later this year I have been promised). You make a very compelling case but at a young, impressionable age I heard the phrase, “A dingo ate my baby”, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to move past that. 🤣🤣🤣
Also, production quality is 🔥!

On 21 February 2022, they will. It’s opening to tourists on that day :)
I went there in 2015 and i fall in love with the place.. i have tried to apply for student entry but still no pathway to become permanent residence even after we finish our studies.. so ended up now in Ontario Canada, and permanent residence now.. but still my heart is in Melbourne Australia.. winter here is super long and cold furthermore.. trails for Outdoor is hours of drive before you reached... haaiizzttt hope one day i'll be in Australia for good.. more power to your channel..
Another thing you may want to add is that in Australia the opportunities are amazing. You can do and achieve anything here. We've been here for over 50 years now and would never leave. Oh and by the way the other brilliant thing is there basically is no class distinction
Awesome

Never thought I’d find someone who loves Australia as much as I do. London’s great but it’s also hell incarnate at the same time with ridiculous living costs; the cons simply heavily outweigh the very short pros list
Absolutely

I don't know if any of you know the original third and fourth versus of our national anthem ( Advance Australia Fair.
When gallant cook from Albion sail'd,
To trace wide oceans o'er,
True British courage bore him on,
Til he landed on our shore.
Then here he raised Old England's flag,
The standard of the brave;
"With all her faults we love her still"
"Britannia rules the wave."
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance, Australia fair.
While other nations of the globe
Behold us from afar,
We'll rise to high renown and shine
Like our glorious southern star;
From England soil and Fatherland,
Scotia and Erin fair,
Let all combine with heart and hand
To advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance, Australia fair.
Once again good job Ross 👍🏻

Lol
Sounds like someone has the Australia bug
I’m hoping to move back there in JAN 23. Getting away from Wetherspoons is as good a reason as any !
Love hate relationship with Spoons
Way back in the late 50's early 60's we had a lot of migration from Italy and Greece (Melbourne being the 2nd largest Greek speaking community in the world outside of Athens) and kept within there own, just don't be like that and mix with the broader community
Always gotta mix, otherwise you'll stay unmixed
I need a bit more of everything, people (numbers and diversity), salary, things to do, better shops, nearer (still far hehe) to the rest of the world
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope some of the other videos on the channel can help you out.

Good luck!
Only concern should be which of the 28 jobs you'll be offered in the first week you are here should you choose.
I've noticed if you join a group (or club) with the same interest as you (maybe something from uni days), You make lots of friends.

I think the visa system is good enough to weed out the weak ones
I'm a Brit, lived in Japan for 30 years. Would have considered Australia but wouldn't with the knowledge that another million Brits lived there.
