Australia is quite the vision for me, and even if it requires me to start a completely different job or career that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. G’Day, good work again loved it except for the Fosters facts. Todays Fosters is not the same as it was in the 70’s & 80’s, then it was much better but even then it was made for export. Today's Fosters is not even owned by Australia. The main ones now are Victoria Bitter, Melbourne Bitter & XXXX. In the 80’s It was mainly all Carlton & United brews. In the 60’s it was only C.U.B beers followed in the 70’s Courage beer which tasted like vomit and I know what that tasted like. Cheers & Stay Safe. 🇦🇺🇬🇧🇺🇦
Before Covid, Used cars were a lot cheaper, but then the new cars stopped being imported (due to lockdowns, etc), so the price of used cars went up. They will go back down eventually.
I've lived in Nz as a kiwi and here in Aussie and it only mkaes a difference on how fussy you are. Ok.. The weather! Beer and the cost of food and fuel.. Housing costs are blowing out in NZ too.. as we say waddyawant!
The origins of AFL actually go back to early settlement where it was heavily influenced by a game the Indigenous people of western Victoria played the ball made from possum skin, filled with charcoal and tied with kangaroo-tail sinew. The sport or game was called marngrook. It had no goal posts the major elements of the game was kicking the ball high into the air, then leaping to catch it. Tom Wills was raised as the only white kid in his area, and is said to have played the game with the Aboriginal children was believed to have created the game fairly much as we know it today.
My parents brought us here in 1958 and in my mother's final years she often mused "I wonder what you kids would be doing now if we hadn't come to Australia". My reply was always the same. Once I left school I'd get a job and buy a one-way ticket to Australia. I've taken to listening to LBC in the UK and I heard one of the presenters start an interview with a baroness and he called her by her first name and then immediately back-tracked and didn't quite apologise but he asked "am I allowed to call you that?". The baroness almost sounded embarrassed that someone was so obsequious. That, in a nutshell, tells me all I want to know about the psyche of the average Brit when someone on a liberal broadcaster could still be doffing the cap and tugging the forelock. This sort of servile nature is the reason why they have a welfare state that doesn't have enough money to support a welfare state. At least their peasant nature is not as bad as the Russians but they both still believe in the superiority of their "betters". That will always be Australia's saving grace - we don't.
I totally agree with you. I have debated with a number of people that we DO NOT have a class system in Australia. Yes, we have wealth and poverty and the in-between but we do not have a deferential attitude to people who have a 'higher ranking'. And we don't have a House of Lords in Parliament! We judge others on their character and regard others as equals. That is what our idea of 'a fair go' is about. My parents were Welsh born and came to Australia in the early 1950s after living in England (with a mix of both in their ancestry) for some time. I was born in Oz after their arrival. My parents and older siblings were the only ones of the extended family to emigrate. I'm very thankful that they did. I have visited England and Wales, as have my parents and siblings, and intend to do so again but I would never want to live there. (And bring on the Aussie republic!)
Foster's? *Noooo,* get it away from me! [makes warding-off-vampire cross with fingers] I'd rather drink a glass of industrial runoff. Cheers mate, great video 🙂👍
There are snakes everywhere except Ireland and Antarctica. Like most Australians I have never encountered a snake in the wild. A bit of common sense means you avoid them.
We are not descended from Criminal elements living on Hulls used as Gaols because Gaols were full to capacity. Eventually sending the Hulls away but after 9months at sea, following Cptn Cook’s map, landed onto the Australian shore. BYO is so. You drink what you like and that amount you bring is supposed to be your quantity, so over drinking and having an accident or Booze Bus charge, so that the HOST will not be charged for supplying excessive alcohol to you (Irresponsible Service of Alcohol) isn’t going to be an issue.
Don't bring the car. Save the expense and use it to buy one here. British cars don't do well here, with the possible exception of Land Rover (and they have issues), and there is no market, no support and dealers. To put it bluntly, the market decided, British cars were shit in the Australian environment.
Funny how our experiences are so wildly different. I find in general poms are happier here as it’s not too dissimilar but sunnier and better pay. I never worked as much nor have I ever had years without a vacation, so it’s the lucky country for some and not for some others. Do the upsides weight over the downsides, well that is still very much an open question…
G'day ol son...welcome to Beautiful Queensland (Beautiful one Day, Perfect the Next) im just outside Brisbane....at ipswich....Welcome my friend Welcome!!

This is a fine video about someone enjoying their new life and valuing the difference. But something all “migrants” should be aware of is that you never go “back”. You can return to where you came from but it has changed and moved on, and so have you and so have your friends etc. You can enjoy the place ok, but recognise that it is different and value the experience. And I mean migrants to any place from any place. We are always moving forward.
We all know our rights , and most of us appreciate our privileges, with a few actually abusing them, but when we get outsiders, who think Australia is a soft touch--that gets up my nose

I'll try and do some specific ones soo Andrea. We rented for around 4 months and had to break lease
Good question 👍
Great presentation
Thanks
Congrats on your new baby
Ross are you really a teacher or are you working for Tourism Australia????
Still waiting for them to call...
Thanks for the facts Julian
The more you know the better. You are doing a fantastic job though. The government should pay you lol.
Who drinks any of those?!
Before Covid, Used cars were a lot cheaper, but then the new cars stopped being imported (due to lockdowns, etc), so the price of used cars went up. They will go back down eventually.
🤞
Mate I've bought all my cars second hand, never spent more than 4 grand on one. Yeah had a lemon or two but all in all most of em have been good cars.
Thanks Mate
No worries Annie
I don't know how I ever drank it in the UK
Long & hard 🤦♂️😅 Ramsey St is available 😅😅
I'm here all week

I'm terrified of snakes. Have you seen any snakes?
There are snakes everywhere except Ireland and Antarctica. Like most Australians I have never encountered a snake in the wild. A bit of common sense means you avoid them.
I don't live in a major city but I don't even have locks on my house. Not worth the waste of money.

My Australian friend keeps telling me to move over there.

I heard newport flats is a rough area, am I right?
AFL isn't Aussies favourite sport, that's just for Victorians. Its Footie mate. I supported Parramatta Eels when I lived there.
Footie covers most things for sure
How long did it take before you could buy a car?
What are the 5 major cities??
I recon you don’t know.
I want to move from the uk to Australia quick as possible, and the alcohol i don’t drink much and I’d bring my own car over so that won’t be a problem
Do it!!
@@ThatJohnstonLife I plan to man, I’m 22 moving on my own, I need to do my research about it and all that
Bringing a car to Australia would cost you about as much as buying a car here. But ok.
Don't bring the car. Save the expense and use it to buy one here. British cars don't do well here, with the possible exception of Land Rover (and they have issues), and there is no market, no support and dealers. To put it bluntly, the market decided, British cars were shit in the Australian environment.
Unfortunately you are not eligible for an employer sponsored or general skilled migration visa pathway :(

Not all days are hot, some days are f*****g hot! :)
😄 🤣 😂
G’Day again, just wondering, you do know Ramsay Street (Neighbours ) is in Melbourne, don’t you?
I thought it was Summer Bay?
No that is Home and away.
Australia’s nation sport is cricket.
Thanks Abi
Funny how our experiences are so wildly different. I find in general poms are happier here as it’s not too dissimilar but sunnier and better pay. I never worked as much nor have I ever had years without a vacation, so it’s the lucky country for some and not for some others. Do the upsides weight over the downsides, well that is still very much an open question…
Let us know if it changes in a few years
@@ThatJohnstonLife thank you, wishing you the best of luck!
Mate if you can't find a good beer in Australia, your not a Pom Or Ozzie ?
Well said Rosso.
i want to go.
He stated one of the secrets homesickness??? That happens when moving litterally everywhere
I know, it horrible isn't it?
Goon sounds pretty good
So tasty
Had a giggle at the AFL joke!
Nice words about our land OZ ; And you are right about " Fosters " Wink-wink ;-)
Horrible stuff isn't it Norman
My parents came out in 1951, dad swore he would never go back and never did
Sometimes I feel like that too Alan
I never have anyone come to my house and bring food or alcohol. I would be offended. I live in Melbourne
G'day ol son...welcome to Beautiful Queensland (Beautiful one Day, Perfect the Next) im just outside Brisbane....at ipswich....Welcome my friend Welcome!!
Sorry about the expensive cars.
My mates and go on big road trips around Australia all the time and wherever we would go we would start trying to get everyone to call bundy sugar cane champagne, I’m shook that it’s made it this far 😂
I don't call it Bundy anymore
@@ThatJohnstonLife there’s no point, the best in my opinion is the red sugarcane champagne
This guy forgot to mention a big part of Australia was under water due to floods. I’m glad he likes us but it all depends where you live.
Floods happen all over the world don't they Ulrike?
This is a fine video about someone enjoying their new life and valuing the difference. But something all “migrants” should be aware of is that you never go “back”. You can return to where you came from but it has changed and moved on, and so have you and so have your friends etc. You can enjoy the place ok, but recognise that it is different and value the experience. And I mean migrants to any place from any place. We are always moving forward.
That's a great point. We're always chasing out memories
Keep it in mind to avoid becoming a “ping pong pom” back and forth endlessly dissatisfied.
What about the bugs
You need bugs
We all know our rights , and most of us appreciate our privileges, with a few actually abusing them, but when we get outsiders, who think Australia is a soft touch--that gets up my nose
thats right about AFL but it's not our national sport
I think South Africa is just as misunderstood as Australia.
You're probably right
