Adam, you need to see a video of the perfect car for drift in your compound and bulit It. This is the video: James Carroll buggies Drift special 3 I think that It can be so funny to drove it
I've got a Black Road America Wisconsin plate off of one of my Minis, says "SO TINY". Seems fitting with this build, I'd love to ship it to ya! Thanks for the great content!
Man i love Hert, Guy is so chill and just laid back. He always seems so appreciative of everything and everyone around him. Oh and Grant, what a top guy.
The outside lights could be tinted to give the compound that early need for speed 2 look where each shop type had a different color light that beamed out. Legend car is awesome. You guys have way too much fun.
An alternative is to make all of them RGBW lights, they could be individually addressable for infinite possibilities, although it will probably be pricey.
Just a heads up you might want to add a nice beefy oil cooling system to keep the wet clutches alive inside of the gearbox... Those clutches do not like extended amount of friction heat from clutch dumps and kicks 👍👍
Idea for the lights, maybe have 2 of them on each tree, 1 where you have them to really highlight the tree and a second higher to give more spread. Reflectors are V underrated, could line all the pavement with them (stick in dirt, screw reflector to it) and trees or other obstacles. Different colours can show entrances or hazzards. Maybe yellow/orange for lining the pavement, green for entrances / access and red for hazzards, blue for water, white for the drops and so on. tonnes of colours to pick from. IMO they are superior to lighting because they are cheaper and work no matter the weather etc/ no power needed and so long as you have lights (even really bad ones) they light up super clear. You guys should do some drift games... Ring racing and such (think barrel racing (rodeo stuff) in cars) Much fun. "King of the Cone" is an event during the Donegal Rally.. Good clean craic..
@@Cole1waughtrees grow from the top. If you screw something in it will stay a the same height. They get thicker as time goes on though. A branch on a tree won’t get higher as it grow because of this
The carbs needle / clip position is mostly what you need to adjust for your mid range tuning. You might also want to start by adjusting the air/fuel mix screws
Correct yes: the pilot jet/AFR mixture screw only adjust Idle and just above so 2.5 to 3K rpm. There's a air bypass in the intake you adjust with that. After that its all the needle/main jet taking over.
Some people don't realize. An IMCA stock car or a hobby stock car In a lot of places is built to be a clamor car so that anyone in the top 7 cars could purchase it cheap to keep the playing field level... And it's usually less than 1500 bucks... It might even be less than a 1000.
Soooo good seeing Grant, Hert, and Trevor all on the compound. Can’t wait to see more of the boys drifting, gotta be such a vibe with everyone down there.
i weirdly love seeing him do something that i read in the comment section. absolute love this verhicle. need more of Adam. Grant. and Jimmy. maybe like a top gear style thing.
I’ve been racing these cars for a few years and I can tell you it’s just as crazy and fun as it looks in these videos I’m glad to see these cars are getting exposure on a big scale like this
I wish there was a drift series like this. Where everyone had to have the same exact car. So it’s a real battle for skills instead of certain cars being more powerful or not. It would in my opinion be the most fair drift series
Bro, pull some pinion angle out of the thing to free the rear up some. Also you have the proportioning valves, ease up the front brake pressure and up the rear pressure. Then no need for the handbrake unless you get into trouble. Raced those cars for years.
Yes kevin!! Is he a stunt driver from the uk, believe I watched him at the Great Yarmouth stadium doing a show of drifting and burnouts and self driving burnouts? I knew I’d seen one of these cars somewhere before!! Was awesome memories growing up
There is no legend car content like this anywhere, this is so dope! i have been saving up to get one when i get back to the states for road racing but have been thinking about an exhibition build with a turbo and dumb stuff, this is exactly what i needed in my life!
What he said was a seat can be taken out, They are the main jet holder and have loads of small holes that can get clogged easily, You just tap them out, Pilot jet only does from idle to about 20% throttle, You want to go back and pop those main jet holders out and ultrasonic clean them
Hey Adam, you're going to keep having gunk build up from the ethanol in your pump gas phase separating. Go to WAWA and the blue recreational gas pumps are ethanol free and that is definitely what you should be putting in a carbureted engine ;)
This is literally a car guys dream bro. A giant place with plenty of spots and “tracks” to hoon around with multiple shops that you and your closest buddies can just bs while working on cars. Not to mention all the sketchy cars that everybody can share and drive presumably whenever or close to it.
By the end of the week Adam's going to have all the nuances of turning a Legends car into a drift able platform dialed in! I agree with Hert, next year instead of E36's everyone gets a Legends car and mods it. Only prob is, (as Collet & Grant let him know) the sketchiness of speed & the short wheelbase and basically open wheel chassis/frame with the little fenders and running boards, questionable welds Ect...might dampen the door tapping fun some. Guess you could aways weld some side skirt bash bars on. 🎄Merry X-Mas LZ Compound looks great BTW!
We love videos like this down to earth and a bunch of chill people having fun and the legend content is legendary. Loved seeing the mods. Keep up the good work
Really cool to see you finally drive something almost exactly like something ive driven before. My dads army buddy has one and lets my brother and I autocross it when he can’t. These little things are such a rush!!
Who's Tj? Is that that guy that gets other people to design stuff an puts his name on it or gets other people to fix his car an stands beside it saying I built this oh with these guys help hahaha Adam is honest, doesn't perceive to know or do it all an we learn as he learns in alot of case's.
Imagine showing up to drift events in that thing... it's hilarious, makes me wonder if those oval racers would work for drifting too, the ones with the giant wings that only goes left, as the wings are set up for downforce going left.
These old school builds where it has R&D are far more interesting and probably easier on the budget. Bringing in random friends to help is also great cross collab. There is progression in the build, yourself, and your shop. TJ builds of high priced new cars and other youtubers, I just can't get excited about. There are very few build videos that keep me watching and the only excitement is the reveal video. Keep up the great content Adam.
Try raising the needles one notch and or different taper needles - that's what governs midrange. Bigger main jets may also be in order. On CV carbs, shorten the slide spring one coil, and drill a tiny hole at the very bottom of the slide (if it's plastic). This relieves the air pressure above the slide so it rises quicker. Many CV carbs have delayed slide response and no accelerator pump so you have to do some little tricks to get them to open up quicker...
May favorite car on your channel now. I grew up with legends cars. Seeing one repurposed like this is awesome. This could truly be a new evolution of drifting for people who can’t afford to build an actual car to drift. So cool and can’t wait to see what else you have in store for it
The caster is changed by the radius rod attached to the top control arm. I like the angle mods. Not sure if would be good for racing but would be fine for drift 🤘🏼
This is the future of car culture content. Forget big budgets and major race tracks fooling around in cars you'll never see with people who you have nothing in common with. Real friends, real wrenching, and your own venue that you're in control of. This was a hundred times more entertaining than watching millionaires fool around with a supercar and talk about tech that literally nobody can afford. Also: SMALL, LIGHT, LOUD, AND ROUGH FTW!
We just started racing these not too long ago and ran the 1250 for a little while. Going water-cooled with the Fz09 could be beneficial, but idk if you'd want to dump more money into this than you would want to lmao.
One of my highschool teachers drove one of these. She brought it to auto shop one time to show us. The sound cannot be underestimated. The video doesn't do it justice. These things are LOUD
Since they are so light you can add-to/rework the chassis/frame/cage to better fit all the drivers and make it safer for drifting, also would be cool if you make sheet plates on the edge of the skirt so they can leave "door marks".
After 20yrs daily driving a competition geometry modified datsun 510 there are couple lessons ive learned. Shortening steering arm (the slotting done...) @ wheel end even a little removes a lot of leverage at the steering wheel... to steer one handed without power - leverage is a must.... but gained leverage is lost rate...leverage can also be gained with a larger steering wheel. A correct balance of both and a driveby knob (think lo-rider bling)... and a decent left arm... andya in bidniz. Caster alo adds weight to the steering wheel in trade for stability... im sure you guys already know ALL this, fundamentally... but without power steering its all drastically amplified. Add wheel tire size weight and grip... and even big arms can easily be overpowered
I just like how he works on his own cars. Even if in the moment he might not figure it out, it only takes him a little time and practice and PATIENCE to get where he’s trying to go. Don’t get discouraged if you’re stuck on a project. Most of us are in fact. You have to admit that even tho if someone else finishes it for you it’s still cool to have something working properly, but when you do it yourself, it sounds hella cliche, but you feel so much more accomplished and confident in something that YOU did
This series is the series you wanna be half way through when you find it.... Come oooooon Adam, we want moreeeeeee!!! Throw a different motor in, play around completely now!!
Dude you should totally have a carbon kevlar shell of an e36 or a 240 hatch built for it lol. A little cute, squished, tall car like a dang cartoon lol
I love my internal throught that that tree light will slowly get taller the longer it stays there lol. Live the long video format. Was very cool meeting you at PRI. The Supra looked 👌
Throw a junkyard 1000cc in it if you get bored or anything happens to the engine. They average around 190-200 or more hp and you'll have that high rpm screaming inline 4 sound (still around 14k rpm but have that classic high rpm sound unlike the grunt of the engine in it now). Also they are pretty cheap. Newer 600cc's make around 130 and rev out to 16-18k rpm most of the time if you wanted to go that route. A great example would be the Kawasaki zx636. Always look forward to your videos. Thank you
How cool is it to have your friends show up with their cars, each has a bay and a lift and you can all work on and fix your junk under one roof and then immediately go out and shred. Dreams....
I hope that you don’t give up on the legend car. I’d love to see you and John come together and build some front end stuff and make this a legit option for guys looking to get into drifting cause they are relatively cheap
@@ba97racing I'm not really sure these things will get drift taxed tbh. Nice ones sell for $10k+, so at that point 99% people will just go for a street car.
@@trevor4533 that's where it comes down to knowing what you are looking for exactly and why the nice newer ones cost more. There's plenty out there that are sub-10k, just gotta know what to look for. I'm torn cuz I don't know if I see myself owning a Legends car although I've always loved them, maybe if drift peeps start moving towards used racing chassis it will finally bring the costs back down on rwd sports cars for the rest of us. (I'm a grip guy, and no offense to drift people but sifting through clapped out over priced half assed drift builds to find a good starting point sucks).
@@ba97racing Yeah, I agree with you on that. Depending on where you are in the country, you can definitely pick up an outdated one for $6k-8k. $4k is definitely a pipe dream, Adam got pretty lucky here. BUT. How much money and time will it take to make it a worthwhile drift car compared to say a 240, 350z, miata etc? Just for reference, I see a caged 350z tandem car on marketplace with a built LS near me for $17k obo. And another one with a cage and VQ for $13k obo. Unless the aftermarket and support for these things take off, it just doesn't make sense to buy one of these for drifting imo.

I drove one of these types of cars (modlite) a few years ago on dirt. My last one had ATV electric power steering on it. Worked like a charm!
That's not a bad idea. Power steering would help from haven to man handle the wheel an throwing his arms into the sides as hard. Hope he see this.

Was thinking something similar like an electric steering pump/rack setup
That’s a big alternator tho. Takes a lot of power to run an e-rack.

This is awesome! I think everyone would agree that you should swap a Ninja H2 engine in the legend. Thing would be crazy!
Yeah until they get hit with the drift tax....
