Dogs are just different kinds of wolves essentially, or more technically just a subspecies of a wolf. Thus the subspecies "Canis familiaris" applies to domesticated dogs, which is under the species Canius Lupus (which includes the current wolf AND that extinct wolf.) Donkeys and horses mate to make a mule, but the mule is sterile meaning donkeys and horses are not the same species. A mule is a hybrid animal(sterile, often has physical and mental disabilities due to unusual chromosome amounts, might be extra large or extra strong due to growth genes), and I think that is what you meant? I love watching your playthroughs and nuzlockes, they are so entertaining and funny. You are my favorite pokétuber. Love you man, keep going because you're doing it right. Also love your theories and speculation based on Khu and the leaks!
9:10 This is actually a pretty good explanation of convergent evolution. And as a bio undergrad with an interest in ecology and evolutionary biology, I really hope this speculation is actually what GF intends. Loved regional forms and the extinct species from PLA, now hopefully convergent evolution and ancestral/descendant species in SV. The idea of these are making me hyped for SV.
9:30 My mind was blown here. In essence, regional variants are divergent evolution (species sharing the same common ancestor but evolved different traits), whereas regional "fakes" are convergent evolution (species with different ancestors but evolving similar traits) Now that I understand this gimmick better I'm super interested to see it in action :D
When you think about the example of Mimikyu it's probably similar to the RFake concept, but you have to remember that Mimikyu is intentionally _mimicking_ Pikachu. I think RFakes would have come about ("evolved") in a more spontaneous way
The way the fake is described, it reminds me of Lavasioth and Jyuratodus from monster hunter. Lavasioth is a subspecies, but it's named on its own unlike most subspecies.
The complaints that regional fakes are “lazy” are so false. They’re literally regional forms, exactly the same. But with a new name, rather than “alolan____” it just has its own name. Like alolan sandslash being called Snowslash It’s not lazy. It’s no different to regional forms.
Something interesting is that convergent evolution in real life tends to occur when an animal with a certain niche in the predatory line stops being there for some reason. Example: if crocodiles stopped existing tomorrow, then another animal that also eats fishes could take advantage of that new food source since crocodiles are no longer there as a threat. As a result, that animal will eventually adapt itself to be better at eating and catching fishes in the water and thus, it will gain similar traits to the ones of the animal that used to hunt there (like webbed feet, an elongated snout and a tail to swim better. Just like crocodiles) and thus, it will look more similar to that animal but still being a different species (but now evolved and adapted to hunt in the water). What I´m going with this, is that the existence of these RFakes (if they work as convergent evolutions in real life) probably means that the "original versions" (like regular kanto diglett for example) are de-confirmed to be in the game.
So regional forms have common ancestors while convergent species have no common ancestors but evolved into similar looking creatures. In real life we see this in things like Koalas and Bears. Koalas are not bears but have simply evolved to appear and act like a small bear because of similar environmental factors.
Wrong. Koalas evolved to look and act like demon gremlins and no sane human would ever mistake one for a bear, which is a perfectly normal and reasonable fellow.
I feel as if Regional Fakes are related to the evolution of Pokémon through the passage time. We may get a clue to this through the Diglett fanart, which is a kind of geyser. If we were to assume that at one point in time, Diglett remained underground, the point at which it came above the surface was different, leading to a physical change. However, they are still considered as the same Pokémon as it is simply the point in time where they are seen.
If Convergent evolution is a thing then I hope there’s one relating Dragonite, Charizard, and possibly Aerodactyl. I know Charizard forms are redundant but this is one concept I’d be cool with.
This would also explain why there are no Fossils in this game, no need if we have ancient and future forms. The ancient forms pretty much cover that bit.
I do like the idea of convergent evolution in the games. My favorite irl example is of crabs. There are 5 families of crabs that all independently evolved to look like crabs and have no relation to each other. I hope it's not all they do as I can already hear upset people tapping away at their keyboards about the new reason pokemon is ruined and that they'll certainly not be buying another game.
The best example we can give about Regional Fakes and real life animals is when we talk about Porcupines and Hedghogs. Both have spikes and use them to survive, however they don't belong in the same family group. Hedghogs are Erinaceidae, related to Galericinae. Whereas Porcupine are Erethizontidae, related to Beavers. Whatever Pokemon is doing, they might do something similiar to how it happens in animal kingdom, just a theory.
they could do a thing where in violet the future pokemon become special attackers/ defenders (like plasma guns) and in scarlet they become physical attackers/defenders (like primal or pure strength to survive)
Past forms of Pokémon might just be an example of a Lazarus taxon. In Paleontology if an animal has disappeared from the fossil record but has reappeared in recent times it is added to the Lazarus taxon (this also includes animals that have been thought to be extinct). Like a coelacanth. Maybe these Pokémon haven’t been brought from the past, but just probably exist elsewhere.
So, we have the concept of regional variants with what appears to be a local Wooper and Tauros line. We ahve Regional Fake / Convergent Species that look like the pokemon from other regions but don't actually have any connection with them besides employing similar behaviors or evolving to have similar traits, and then you have Time Warped pokemon which possess traits that they no longer have or that they will have at some point in the future. This Pokedex is gonna be pretty fun to fill out, not gonna lie. Hope we get official news soon, November ain't that far off.
Tbh I like the Name being Called Delta Species as opposed to convergent species, because that’s what they were on the hoenn tcg sets. I still have my steel type eevee card from that set.
I think a better example of convergent species are tigers and lions, in terms of internal biology are VERY similar (if not exactly the same) (even can cross bread). However, due to environmental differences they evolved to be different on the outside.
Man, all these complex concepts, I sure hope that we just don’t get trolled by all this speculation. Because this is sounding like the greatest Pokémon game ever…..
Crown Tundra connected a lot through its legendary pokemon. Iberian Peninsula has lore about a king that is supposed to return from the dead on a white horse. King, dead, white horse? Sounds like Calyrex and his Steeds. The past and future theme of the games? Regidrago and Regieleki definitely fit that. Regional Fakes? Look at the dex entries for the Galarian Legendary Birds. They're not the same pokemon.
I've kinda noticed a pattern that the last few games have all foreshadowed the next one, or to an extent anyway. legends arceus may be foreshadowing a legends unova game with enamorous, and I wouldn't be surprised if the crown tundra was foreshadowing scarvio.
@@dhampir_days a legends Unova seems highly likely. Especially since, outside of gen 1 for obvious reasons, Gen 5 had a lot of rep this last gen especially in PLA.
I think I’ve figured it out. I think the gimmick in this game will be a time stone that can turn certain Pokémon into the past or future versions of them. At the start of the game you meet the present form of the legendary Pokémon and at the end of the game you realize that you can use the time stone on it and once you do it turns into miraidon or koraidon depending on which version you are playing.
Regional variations is one of the best ideas they ever had. Coming up with new concepts has to be so taxing. Just take an old one and tweak it. Natural evolution will explain it. Hopefully this one has a new meowth. And we get a new cat pokemon every time.
you know now that i see in this video explaining convergent evolutions, galarian moltres zapdos articuno might have hinted a convergent. they do things similar to what a kantonian version do but in sword pokedex says that they are given that name because they look and do things somewhat similar. resemble without being identical.
Okay so this hit me. We kinda had an example of a "regional fakes" with the sword and shield DLC. Look at the dex entry for Articuno and Moltres in shield and Zapdos in sword; "Known as Articuno, That's why this Pokémon is called Zapdos, blazes like molten fire around this Pokémon is what inspired the name Moltres." The Galarian forms of these pokemon aren't technically Regional Forms, they were given those names because people compared them to the original birds. Only this time, these new RFs will be named differently. 🤔
I feel like a good way to explain your theory on how rfakes could work is like how pikachu clones are different Pokémon but all look and have similar properties to each other. Rfakes (as we’re assuming) would just be that but with other pokemon. So instead of a pika clone like plusle or emogla, we’d have “diglet clone” and etc.
I think the reasoning for RFakes is really close to the galarian bird trio, like in galar people believed they were articuno, zapdos and moltres because of what they heard and haven’t seen them so maybe they are not really even related but are named the same anyway
The convergent evolution theory you said is also seen with the Galarian legendary birds cause the pokedex just says they look similar and that they're not the birds.
Scarlet and Violet doing the game specific Pokemon but with the past and future theme sounds so cool, but i feel like GameFreak wouldnt think to do that
remember how Alolan Vulpix was actually called Keokeo in this game the Rfakes will probably be called like that with a completely different number and dex entry imagine a Sneasler with the same design as Weavile but called Sneasler; i imagine something like that for Scarlet and Violet now what remains is if they will evolve the same way
the RFake thing actually happens in nature where things are pretty much the exact same. Happens a lot with crabs, things very frequently evolve into crabs. A lot of crabs we call crabs are not actually crabs they're like irl rfakes
Ttube is great as always. I feel that most people will hate Rfakes, if they look really similar to the original designs. I also believe that we miss information in order to explain/understand Rfakes. It won't be as difficult to understand when it's revealed. Remember, this is a game for children, and they need to understand it easily. Regional mons were pretty easy to grasp for example.
If we have approximately 130 new Pokémon including forms Khu says there’s 5 new cross gen evos Kaka said there’s 8-9 ancient forms, should be the same for future, so let’s say 18 total And regional fakes we don’t know, I’m going to guess around 15 That’s approx 30-35 new forms/evolutions, which is pretty insane. And still 95-100+ brand new Pokémon including new evolutions That sounds more than good to me
I think a better example of Rfakes is the Girafarig leak. It looks like they redesigned Girafarig; no type changes, no behaviour changes. Just a different Girafarig
I wonder if RFs will be visible in the overworld or if there will be Amoongus in the overworld and when you run into them they'll then appear in the battle as their true form. "A wild Amoongus attacks. Wait, it's actually a Suspaka". Something like that, similarly how shiny pokemon appear in Sword & Shield

Been watching you for a while now, I absolutely love your humor and personality. You just exude positivity and chill vibes and I love that. You make Pokémon so much better.
In essence, regional variants are divergent evolution (species sharing the same common ancestor but evolved different traits), whereas regional "fakes" are convergent evolution (species with different ancestors but evolving similar traits)
Now that I understand this gimmick better I'm super interested to see it in action :D
I get so hyped over every single video! The consistency has been crazy man thanks for the content!
I been appreciating all your riddle breakdowns man. This is excellent lol.
Khu always confuses me lol
The complaints that regional fakes are “lazy” are so false.
They’re literally regional forms, exactly the same. But with a new name, rather than “alolan____” it just has its own name. Like alolan sandslash being called Snowslash
It’s not lazy. It’s no different to regional forms.
I always hated they kept the sandslash name on the alolan form.
What I´m going with this, is that the existence of these RFakes (if they work as convergent evolutions in real life) probably means that the "original versions" (like regular kanto diglett for example) are de-confirmed to be in the game.
i cannot fathom the amount of times ttar has had to wake up to tweets in a single day
Dude, SUPER props on the convergent species connection! That would/will be SO cool and another awesome way Pokemon mimics our nature.
At this point I'm more hyped about the riddles and leaks than the actual games xD
You are my favorite youtuber in the entire world tysm for ur constant coverage it literally makes my day when i see u uploaded a new video
So regional forms have common ancestors while convergent species have no common ancestors but evolved into similar looking creatures.
In real life we see this in things like Koalas and Bears. Koalas are not bears but have simply evolved to appear and act like a small bear because of similar environmental factors.
Wrong. Koalas evolved to look and act like demon gremlins and no sane human would ever mistake one for a bear, which is a perfectly normal and reasonable fellow.
damn hopefully we finally get a quadrupedal wooper looking like an axolotl; would be hype
ANOTHER UPLOAD TODAY?!?! Smashing it man!!!
That whole past and future variant talked about at the end of the video I feel could be how the two box legends are connected
If Convergent evolution is a thing then I hope there’s one relating Dragonite, Charizard, and possibly Aerodactyl. I know Charizard forms are redundant but this is one concept I’d be cool with.
As an evolutionary biologist, you have your stuff right on 😂 great vid as always mate
This would also explain why there are no Fossils in this game, no need if we have ancient and future forms. The ancient forms pretty much cover that bit.
My dude rolling out content like crazy keep up the grind
Absolutely HYPED for this video
I like your explanation about convergent species. Makes sense
Btw guys when man’s talking about STAB, it means Same Type Attack Boost.
Youre a legend Ttar. Thanks for covering all the rumours & riddles.
This is such a quality video explaining the riddles. Thanks Ttar
TTar doesn't realize that he IS the Khu-ology professor. We are the students. These are his lectures.
I think the deal with the Lileep/Cradily new form is that poison symbol is actually the "base" of them and its a wild mon sticking to a wall.
This is a game freak game I refuse to believe we’ll get so many awesome concepts
I hope you read this. This has been the highlight of my summer sharing this with you Ty. Keep up the good work 🙌
they could do a thing where in violet the future pokemon become special attackers/ defenders (like plasma guns) and in scarlet they become physical attackers/defenders (like primal or pure strength to survive)
Smoothest sound Mike on the interwebs!
I still have my steel type eevee card from that set.
respect for the number of uploads recently :D
I think a better example of convergent species are tigers and lions, in terms of internal biology are VERY similar (if not exactly the same) (even can cross bread). However, due to environmental differences they evolved to be different on the outside.
That would be divergent evo
Man I LOVE all this content. Its literally a treat for me!
Man, all these complex concepts, I sure hope that we just don’t get trolled by all this speculation. Because this is sounding like the greatest Pokémon game ever…..
to me it sounds like RF is akin to the pikachu clones i.e pachirisu, dedenne, plusle, minum etc. they basically are pikachu but not
God damn, I watch the previous video when it came out, took a nap, and woke up to a new one. Love u ttar keep it up
Crown Tundra connected a lot through its legendary pokemon.
Who needs trailers? We got TTar and Khu 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
And Kaka
I think that our man ttar is a Pokemon genius and would totally be a professor in the Pokemon world.
"Professor Thammy"
@@tinystar3010 😂 Noice
Regional variations is one of the best ideas they ever had. Coming up with new concepts has to be so taxing. Just take an old one and tweak it. Natural evolution will explain it. Hopefully this one has a new meowth. And we get a new cat pokemon every time.
Didn't even finish watching the last one and this man drops another. 👏
Using the Idea of Convergent evolution is very smart
Like The idea even in real life is very cool
you know now that i see in this video explaining convergent evolutions, galarian moltres zapdos articuno might have hinted a convergent. they do things similar to what a kantonian version do but in sword pokedex says that they are given that name because they look and do things somewhat similar. resemble without being identical.
Wake up everybody, ttar just uploaded 👀
IM UP 😭😭
That actually is a great explanation for Regional Fakes if that is indeed the meaning.
the biggest issue I have with the gimmick image being a lileep is that leakers say no fossil Pokémon are in the game
You always post the video I’m looking for right as I have just enough free time to actually watch it and I will always appreciate you for that
The consistency is insane. Thanks Ttar:)
I wonder if they're gonna retcon Alomomola and Bouffalant into being RFs
The RF Bouffalant will have a cleanly-shaven head. 💀
Ready for TTar to pull the ultimate plot twist and reveal he is Khu, let's gooo!
I like the idea on what direction Pokemon are taking. Convergent Evo and Time Warped Pokemons are brilliant ideas. I am excited to play this game!
Bro you can't sleep with all the riddles
To sum up regional fakes. They’re identical to regional forms, just with original names.
It’s just as if Alolan Sandslash was named Snowslash
The convergent evolution theory you said is also seen with the Galarian legendary birds cause the pokedex just says they look similar and that they're not the birds.
I need to see khu and kaka man in a boxing match 🙏
Scarlet and Violet doing the game specific Pokemon but with the past and future theme sounds so cool, but i feel like GameFreak wouldnt think to do that
That bird bat thing just gives me proof against evolution
remember how Alolan Vulpix was actually called Keokeo
in this game the Rfakes will probably be called like that with a completely different number and dex entry
imagine a Sneasler with the same design as Weavile but called Sneasler; i imagine something like that for Scarlet and Violet
now what remains is if they will evolve the same way
Love the content and that you try not to click bait with the title and thumbnails, but damn I never know which riddle video is which
Brother are you telling me Carcinisation is now Pokémon canon? All things eventually evolve into crabs? 🦀
A fellow PBS Eons watcher? 🧐🔍
all things eventually evolve into krabby...
That thing looks more like a gossifleur than a Lilleep to me
the RFake thing actually happens in nature where things are pretty much the exact same.
If tauros gets a new form (whether it’s a new evo or rf), I’m guessing miltank would probably get one too
If we have approximately 130 new Pokémon including forms
Khu says there’s 5 new cross gen evos
Kaka said there’s 8-9 ancient forms, should be the same for future, so let’s say 18 total
And regional fakes we don’t know, I’m going to guess around 15
That’s approx 30-35 new forms/evolutions, which is pretty insane. And still 95-100+ brand new Pokémon including new evolutions
That sounds more than good to me
3:34 The homie glimmora
I think a better example of Rfakes is the Girafarig leak. It looks like they redesigned Girafarig; no type changes, no behaviour changes. Just a different Girafarig
Convergent evolution is the perfect explanation for this new form of pokemon!
This video blew my mind, and I really like these ideas!
