Speckled Trout Blues?! Try These…

- I recently pool tested some lures that target Speckled Trout and now it is time to take them out and see what the Trout think about them In Bayou Bienvenue. My objective on this trip wasn't to fill an ice chest, but to catch some bigger sized Trout on these lures. Two of the lures I have used and caught fish on before, and two I have never used except for the pool test. It's very difficult to get a good read on a lure in one trip because conditions and variables are always changing, but I did catch fish on all four lures. When it comes to fishing, I tend to fall into the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" category, but it's easy to forget that your favorite lure now had to be tried for the first time by you as well.
Lures used in this video:
- Pure Flats "The Slick" w/ Owner "Beast" weightless 4/0 hook @pureflatsllc157
- Paul Brown's "Fat Boy"
- Yo-Zuri "3d Inshore Twitch" @YoZuri
- Rapala X-Rap @Rapala

It's not the bait....it's the fishermen! Take me out there with the same bait and I'll skunk! LOL. It is all in the wrist! And Jar....you da man with right action plan! Making me want to buy all these lures....if I was the lure company...I would surely put you on an ad! Great job Jar....again and again...
Much appreciated
Great video! I liked the cut in to the pool test. That adds a lot of information.
Like the video JAR! I think I liked the (1) slick lure, looks like the old storm minnows we used to catch and use for bait. Can't beat the Rapala X-Rap.....
Awesome video Jar, very interesting using different baits and the pool test
Nice! Cool to see you putting that slick to work. Trout have been tough here in Bama lately
I don’t know why it took me so long to try it. They smash that thing man.
Nice the twitchin mullet is my favorite in the same color as your xrap
Love those Slick Baits
Your gamble paid of big time, nice catch, beautiful looking trout, Thanks for sharing !
Awesome info!
Great video putting the pool test lures to a real world test!! Those are some really nice trout..
You’re killing me throwing those monsters back
lol. I hear ya. My dad says the same thing. I’m blessed to be able to fish every couple of weeks and I catch plenty of smaller fish off camera that I keep. We eat fish all the time. Most people only get to fish a couple of times a year so I don’t judge anyone for keeping all the legal fish they catch. I would probably do the same thing if I was in that boat.
Nice work
Nice ! I love the slicks with belly weight or beast hook, they catch beast! And doesn’t hang up, fat boys too! Great video
Wanted to drop back in and let you know I smoked the trout when I went. Thanks for the heads up 🤝🏿
Nice! I’m aching to get back out there. Hopefully soon
Great video as always man! Appreciate the detail of your videos. I see you leaned on your favorite lure to get the job complete.)
Yeah I had to cheat a little bit lol
Great video man. Keep on keeping on
Alright JAR Save Me Some Trout! Great Video Jar!
You are the man, great video.
Love the videos man 🤟🏻
The slick closely resembles the Paul Brown devil
True
@@Jar_Fishing but probably a heck of a lot cheaper than the Devil
One of the things about the devil is that you get A LOT of the treble hook in the gill rakers. Not a great thing for catch and release.
@@eagleeye551I’ve replaced the treble with a single in-line hook, considering how much damage the treble does when they take it in so deep
You make it look easy lol
Thanks Brother. I don’t know about easy, but I always have fun. I could stay out there all day lol
Great video.. any technique to picking a section or rocks to fish?
Luck is certainly a factor. Beyond that, I try my best to establish a pattern. It’s starts with a blank slate and the first fish is a clue. I’m always paying attention to what type of feature I caught a fish on. Some days it’s the down current side of a point and sometimes it’s in a big cove etc… once I think I have a pattern, I go looking for similar features. Tip: don’t ignore the Loons. If you see one hanging out and diving, it’s probably for the same reason a big trout would be there.
Ok, thanks, I appreciate it. I fish those rocks all the time..
Right On👊👍 what rod are you using for the Yo Zuri, looking for a extra rod to my arsenal
I used my medium light for the yo zuri. Same rod I use for the xrap
@@Jar_Fishing I don’t know what they are, Sorry newbi
@@donsisco7118 I’m still experimenting with it for sure. Any treble hook lure that’s light enough, I use the medium light. The fat boy is a little too heavy so I go up to Medium. The Slick has that big hook so I used a medium heavy for the hook set power and it felt right to me.
@@donsisco7118i know one of his rods is a Falcon.
@@johnfontenot7861it is a sweet 6’7” Falcon that is currently unavailable best I can tell. JAR showed me which one, they’d sell a bunch if they’d bring that model back, at least one to me.😂
Why don’t you give each lure 10 casts to see how much each catches? It should be more scientific. Keep up the good work.
