- This is the NOTAKLÖN DIY Overdrive kit, which utilizes the unique “Shamrock” modification that JHS performed on the *Klon KTR for several years. With easy-to-understand instructions (no soldering required), this kit is for anyone who wants a particularly mythical overdrive and the experience of easily building their own pedal. They’ve even included "goop" so that you can conceal the "magical" diodes.
It’s NOTAKLÖN 'til you build it.

not initially interested by a klone but to be honest the marketing is genius for this one!
The most iconic bass sounds on albums were made with guitar amps/pedals mixed in with bass gear, or even just a DI signal.
That bass sounded so much better with the Klon on. It's almost like it's high definition with it on 😅
That pedal sounds really good and very easy to put together. Good job buddy.🤘
This is a review done right. Splicing the build with demos. Subbed!
So pumped to get mine😤
Man, i cant wait to get mine, its been ordered since day 1 but i missed out on the first batch, so lets see if the 2nd batch comes in soon! :D
I’m really considering buying this pedal. It sounds really good to me, and playing the examples with it on and off has been very clarifying (I think the sound was much better with the pedal on in most cases).
Anyways, I’m pretty sure most people who blame pedals for losing low end say this because they heard someone saying that before, not because they have really experienced it. Keep in mind that on live shows, most sound engineers tend to filter the low end to get a clean mix of bass drum and bass guitar. Of course we all like sub-bass frequencies, but they’re not essential for most bass players when we want to cut through the mix.
I've not used it, but I'd add the TC Electronic Zeus to your deliberations. It's Fat mode might be useful. I built myself a klone years ago and added a similar bassier mode, and always preferred it. I think the JHS + mode has more gain, but that's not necessarily what bassists want in an od. I ended up giving it to a friend because I preferred other drives.
I see that you played with the goop. Honestly, I don't blame you.
Gotta have the magic diode goop! Otherwise why are we even alive?!?!
my favorite klone is from anasounds, the "savage mk2"
that sounds great on bass, Ive heard that the low end completely drops out, but that sounded pretty darn good. Wondering if I put it on the board with an EQ after would do the trick...
or put it with a clean blender like Damnation dirtfixer or Boss LS2..
@@RadityoPramAdiSwapping the Gain dual potentiometer with a dual concentric potentiometer would allow separate control of the clean blend. A single component mod to replace an entire pedal seems like a good trade to me.
whats the LOVE KLON song???? EDIT: nvm.... I was going to say it sounded like Kiss... "Love Gun" by Kiss
Unless I'm misunderstanding the light indicator on the pedal, (and I am colorblind) it looked like most of the clips spent much more time demonstrating the bypassed tone. Is the brighter color the bypassed or the engaged sound?
The effect is enabled most of the time. Just a few seconds each song are bypassed.
What is the song in the beginning starting from 0:12?
Love Gun
One word for you…”doh-eth!”
YES!!!!
Ikeas first stomp box
What's the reason/purpose of it not being put together? Shouldn't it just arrive already put together and ready to play?
It's fun to build pedals, and if you can't solder, then a solderless kit is the next best thing.
@@sparella also, building it yourself fits the Ikea theme. :)
The Simpson’s Bart breaks a leg…
Yes!!!!!!

Notaklon but also notabasspedal
Lemmie guess, if the pedal doesn't have the word "Bass" on it, you won't use it?
I use a LS-2 to keep my low end on “bass” and “non-bass” pedals. Even the “bass” labeled pedals seem to suck my low signal. But, you do you.
@@Suthrnfried An LS2 requires 4 cables and a shit ton of extra pedalboard space to set up. Plus I've had 2 of them fail on me out of nowhere
@@SuthrnfriedYep, I'm an LS2 fan too. EHX has a comparable product now, but I'm unreasonably partial to the Boss buffer.
@@sparellaI tried both EHX tri parallel and the switchblade pro…they just didn’t do it for me.
It would have been 1,000% perfect if you disavowed the Bon Jovi joke, then cut to Josh "rockin'" the Bon Jovi song.
If I had that clip, I would have
Dammit that’s a good idea…
bASS
you no like? Man, I think Klons sound great on bass, just need a bit of low end support.
@@davedixon2167LS-2 all day!
the only pedal you need is a boss eq 200.
Very true.
No.
And a tuner pedal that doubles as a kill switch ;)
No, you can't get one, it's already sold out. 😂
Yes, you CAN get one, as long as you don't require instant gratification. They'll be back in stock next year.
