This REALLY resonates with me at the moment, so thank you. Same sort of background, I'm almost 32 coming from the corporate world, and engaged the OSO in December. I'm :30 off the 3mi qual time, ok on plank, but I can't do a pull-up to save my life. Never have been able to. But I'm beating myself into the ground every day trying to max before the end of this summer. Long story short, this is timely, and thank you for making me feel like less of an outsider than I did 10mins ago.

I am happy to hear this. Exactly why I made the video because I felt the same way when I started training and I found no videos on the topic. You can do it. If you want it bad enough. It will be hard and painful at times. But you can. Shoot me an email if you ever want to talk more: elimaok@gmail.com

Hey @Qb7deepsea, Im officially an application for OCS. A year ago, I couldnt do a single pull up. Doing the Armstrong program really helped me. Starting off, do it with rubber bands to assist you in doing them. Repetition is key. Good luck!

Hey bro, I been following you since back in the Decred podcast you did, i remember you talking about ICP I think, you still have good feelings about that project?
Sorry this has nothing to do with this video, which by the way is fantastic, I found it very helpful as I’m on mega health journey for the first time ever as a 41 year old.

Great Video sir! I have one question, I hope you are able to answer it but if not, I understand being that you are a brand new lieutenant. Can officers become MCMAP Instructors or Instructors Trainers. In other words earn a gold or red tab on the green, brown, or black MCMAP belts??

I believe the answer is yes

Hey 2LT Lima, when you were about to ship to OCS, did you feel like you were absolutely prepared physically for the physical rigor of OCS? The only thing holding me back is a good enough PFT for OCS. I'm currently at ~220 PFT. Would you recommend aim for 280 or higher before shipping to OCS or would something like a 250 be good enough to survive the ten weeks? Obviously, its different for everyone but what are your thoughts on this. Also, how were the daily PTs like at OCS? Do you automatically get sent home if you fall out of a daily PT or something like a Farlek run?

great question. I shipped with a 260 PFT. My PHT improved while I was at OCS. Some candidates had lower PFTs than me. If you do not get a first class PFT, you get dropped upon arrival. If you are in the bottom percentile of PFTs when you arrive, you make yourself an easy target upon arrival. You do not immediately get dropped for falling out of daily PTs. Daily PTs were difficult for me, but also the best part of every day. They are manageable in my opinion because you know that they will only last 1 hour at most. You can suck it up for an hour. If you fall out of a daily PT, you get a chit (negative counseling). I only received one of these for PT during OCS. They are pretty irrelevant by themselves, but if you are failing in any of the categories, and you go up on the board, then they will become meaningful. Especially if there are a lot of them.
in conclusion: it is possible to get through OCS with a 250 PFT going in. But you must know that others will be performing much higher. You will improve while you are there. If you are mentally tough, you will make it through. You better have a very strong "why" and don't forget it while at OCS
