If you listen to this out of context instead of just watching it, some of the other screams sounds badass to me. It feels like Kurama's (Yu Yu Hakusho) rage, revealing his true power or whatever. (Its the same va) Shinji's scream could fit for a metal band. What do you think?

I’ve started reading the manga. Shinji is much more calm in the face of danger. The only times he screams in utter terror is when he thinks Asuka is about to flash her boobs and when Asuka mentions she’s having her periods. Which are totally appropriate reactions. And yes the manga is wonderfully weird. "It’s really weird hearing a 14-year-old girl mentioning semen and sperm" - An actual line from the manga
The Red Army treated conscript cannon fodder more humanely than NERV treated Shinji, at least they had the honesty to tell them that they were disposable, the compassionate gesture to give them tobacco and vodka before sending them to be slaughtered and at least they had a couple of weeks or more to familiarize themselves with the handling of weapons. Shinji is given zero training and is even sent to fight in civilian clothes in his first battle. It's surprising that the poor boy lasted so long, instead of running away after the first battle, which would have been completely justifiable and beneficial to him. Go back to living alone with that apathetic sensei? Well, at least he wouldn't have to do a job for which he is not qualified and he would get rid of that fake hypocritical tutor Misato. Let that strange Rei be in charge and then Asuka, who is the one who has trained for that shit and wants to show off with it! And if NERV screws up along the way, let them be the ones who bear the consequences, not him! Oh and by the way, good luck to Gendo and SEELE starting Third Impact without a pilot for their precious unit 01! If only Shinji had resisted those jerks, if he had had the courage to say no, if he hadn't been so hesitant. He honestly deserved everything that happened to him afterwards.
Shinji for some reason reminds me of well, me - cause we both are wussies, but unlike Shinji, I can handle (*some*) traumatic stuff, though I can get scared, even when i’m brave, and we both get emotional over some of the littlest things, so, if you are like Shinji, then congratulations. (I feel kinda scared)
