One thing I love about finding videos like this that are almost a decade old is that you know AI wasn't around to have a hand in it. Some fan (or fans) took time out of their lives to redraw and reanimate all this footage out of pure love and passion for a series they liked. That's beautiful. it's really interesting because of how much the series focuses on male/female relationships (not always romantic, just the relationships in general) as well as mother/daughter, father/son and father/daughter or mother/son

Fun fact: Shinji was originally designed to be a girl early in development of the show. The character designer for the show who went on to write and illustrate the manga adaptation even joked about the similarity of Shinji's design compared to Anno's previous anime protagonist, Nadia.

I'm blown away by the quality of this, this is on par with the original, a LOT of talent and effort clearly went into this obscure piece, man I really want to know the backstory behind this, like who made this and how did they do it, did they edit each frame by hand, how long did it take, what are their other creations? So many questions.
look at the description. its a Japanese artist, they probably learned art from their own asian counterpart which is why it looks eerily similar
@@badmeow2312 it’s literally just traced over/edited. Not that deep, which is why it looks 1:1 and a bit choppy. Pretty good though and is still indicative of their artistic skills that they managed to keep the style the same quality as the original.
