The reason the songs are ordered like this - and why "Lazarus" is on this EP at all - is because this is the order the songs appear in the Lazarus musical - "Lazarus" is the opener, "No Plan" shows up about a third of the way in, "Killing a Little Time" is another third into the show, and "When I Met You" is the second-to-last song.
I'm from the future. Ten years from now there will be a David Bowie clone making music but they cloned him wrong so all he is making is music like his first album and his two 80s albums. It's horrible
A starmap would've been cool. I like how you come up with your own ideas for the design and look of the product. I guess most of us are very used to at least get a few things extra with the LP. Download code, lyric sheet, additional artwork etc. Makes me wonder what the future of these physical releases will look like. What will change?
I like what they (Bowie) did with his last album. He had them plain and dark which helps give the image of that darkness that must have been haunting his final days. I feel the melancholy in his latest songs. While it has nothing interesting it definitely gives off a meaning. At least to me.
My Autobiography A Fanfic there will be plenty more releases. There will be so much unreleased material. I am positive it will see the light of day eventually. Last stuff he recorded yes, last release no.
Down Under Vinyl not even late stuff. We still have the stuff he did with Visconti shortly before his death. There are 2-5 tracks that exist. One of them has been heard by some people called “Blaze” and apparently it’s incredibly good.
I saw you other Bowie albums. Ahhh, I'm a Bowie addict. Ever heard of that hormone that makes you basically addicted to something? Yeah, I got that on Bowie. Best drug.
"Classic 80's Bowie". Funny. But will agree Let's Dance is a classic album. Yes the No Plan ep packaging is disapppointing and it would have been nice to get a different version of Lazarus. The other 3 are nice to have.
I love that I can watch you and really see your honest opinions on a record rather than just a dull review of little help. Not to mention the immense production quality which is just the cherry on top of a brilliant channel. Superb stuff
Thank you for this review! To me, it's always a lack of respect to release songs that an artist didn't want to release in the first place! David Bowie was such a perfectionnist, they should respect his choice! I am a big fan of David and I truly respect him (he has been my main inspiration for years) and I won't buy this record on principles!
The clear blue indie edition is only around $20, got it at Amoeba online . It's very pretty. I don't really collect vinyl, have about 10 of them but Black Star was such a cool package that I wanted to pick this up as well. I'm very pleased with it.
I don't know if it matters to anyone, but the constellation shown on the label is Cygnus which depicts a swan. Maybe some of you who like to play albums backwards can derive some subtle meaning from it. I'd be interested in the theories.
I felt the exact same..I knew the track listing going into the buy but I was very disappointed in the cover and no inserts or lyric sheets.. it really should be about 9 bucks honestly.
I’m glad I bought it on iTunes and I’m shocked that the record is 3D the cost of the price on iTunes! Though I bought the 3 tracks and left out Lazarus as I already own the Blackstar LP.
This EP was the same price as Blackstar here, so I didn't buy it. Personally, I think what they should have done with those extra 3 songs is release them with a bunch of other unreleased or rare recordings from Bowie's later years. There's a song called "Safe" from the "Heathen" sessions, so I'd probably start with that, then "Queen Of All The Tarts" and "Fly" from the "Reality" bonus disk, then there's things like "She Can Do That" which was for a soundtrack to a bad movie and a few other things like that, his guest spots with Arcade Fire, Kashmir and others, plus there's bound to be more we don't even know about from that era. The extra songs from The Next Day deluxe edition. There'd be more than enough for a new album essentially. Now that would have been really cool and well worth the cost.
I found black star a bit hit and miss but loved the track Lazarus, so I purchased this EP instead of black star. I think that’s probably the only time to purchase it
Here in the Netherlands this EP goes for 20 euro and even higher prices. It is insane! There is also the new live album "Cracked Actor", a double album containing recordings from the Diamond Dogs Tour, a Record Store Day Release, for the humble price of 56.99 euro(!!) in my nearby record store. I am a fan of David Bowie, and I love to get hold of these records, but I just cant afford it. Prices of new vinyl are getting out of control in my opinion. A sad development... Love your channel by the way!
Yeah, I hate artificial scarcity that RSD breeds. I would rather see the music get in the hands of people who want to hear it instead of flippers. Thanks for stopping by
The super deluxe edition of blackstar sounds like a cool idea, I imagine it could be 45 rpm (maybe even pressed by mobile fidelity...) and the song list could be this Side a 1. Blackstar 2. Tis a pity she was a whore Side b 1. Lazarus 2. Sue (or in a season of crime) 3. Girl loves me Side c 1. Dollar days 2. I can’t give everything away Side d 1. No plan 2. Killing a little time 3. When I met you Oh and the no plan E.p. Is ok I guess but I think it’s a big cash grab.
Nice honest review and I agree with your assessment. This just reeked of a cash grab. It would have been better if they did a one year reflection on The album and his passing.
I bought this on record store day for $30 CAD. I feel the exact same way as you. Thats far too much for what it is, and its a missed opportunity with the packaging. The colour of the vinyl is nice, but whatever. You can barely even see the etching on my copy anyways
Okay.........here we go. Being a Bowie fan for a very long time, and have collected a TON of Bowie music over the years, this looks and feels like a cash-in as well. I mean, come on........4 songs, and 1 is already on Blackstar? That just screams "no enthusiasm whatsoever". I doubt David himself would have greenlit this release as it is. He was always about something special, something different, but this..........this just isn't it! I'm sorry, but yes.........I totally agree with you - this is not worth the money.
The turntable is a Yamaha YP 211 with a Shure M97xE , the receiver is a Yamaha CR-620, the speakers are a pair of Sansui SP-200. However, I listen to most of my records in my office with my Audio Technica LP-120
I agree, it is a disappointment. I went out on RSD and bought this, thought it was the blue vinyl version, but when I took it out it was black. The blue vinyl is no where to find in Norway. Also I have already got the Lazarus 3LP set.
Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come. For Bowie's catalogue to be abused would be atrocious.
I'm sure is gonna happen
Yeah, I think it will happen sadly
Vinyl Rewind Sure, but hopefully they keep it up with the box sets (Five Years, Who Can I Be Now?). Those are beautiful so far.
Good point, those are nice

I think you're being fair. This is the last David Bowie release ever; it's a shame they didn't put in more effort.
My Autobiography A Fanfic there will be plenty more releases. There will be so much unreleased material. I am positive it will see the light of day eventually. Last stuff he recorded yes, last release no.
My Autobiography A Fanfic oh just wait till they find "lost tapes"
My Autobiography A Fanfic lazuras was and he poured his heart and soul into it
Down Under Vinyl not even late stuff. We still have the stuff he did with Visconti shortly before his death. There are 2-5 tracks that exist. One of them has been heard by some people called “Blaze” and apparently it’s incredibly good.
Don't forget we also got the re-imagining of 'Never Let Me Down' - which managed to fix that bloody awful music from the original.
I saw you other Bowie albums. Ahhh, I'm a Bowie addict. Ever heard of that hormone that makes you basically addicted to something? Yeah, I got that on Bowie. Best drug.
Loved the honesty and critical analysis of this. You're a great reviewer!
"Classic 80's Bowie". Funny. But will agree Let's Dance is a classic album. Yes the No Plan ep packaging is disapppointing and it would have been nice to get a different version of Lazarus. The other 3 are nice to have.
Love the passion and honesty in this video. You can see the disappointment and frustration in your eyes
I love that I can watch you and really see your honest opinions on a record rather than just a dull review of little help. Not to mention the immense production quality which is just the cherry on top of a brilliant channel. Superb stuff
David Bowie's voice, travelling through space for all eternity... "I'm up on the eleventh floor, and I'm watching the cruisers below..." :0)

that's good to hear you got a good price for it
Very honest review. Thanks for talking this one out. I'll just give it a listen via RUclips.
I totally agree with you - nice that you are being honest with your opinion.

i should imagine when blackstar gets a reissue the no plan tracks will be included
Great review

I love David i❤️ Bowie
Will you be doing something like this for the Gorillaz album on Friday ?
Not on Friday unfortunately because that's when I'm getting it and I need a little bit of time to listen to it and shoot something
I'm so jealous man, I wanted to pick one up on RSD, glad you were able to get one. Did you do RSD?
I got my copy via Amazon pre-order. I did not do RSD
You are great, fair and unbalanced, and I appreciate your input! Glad you say what you say!

The super deluxe edition of blackstar sounds like a cool idea, I imagine it could be 45 rpm (maybe even pressed by mobile fidelity...) and the song list could be this
Side a
1. Blackstar
2. Tis a pity she was a whore
Side b
1. Lazarus
2. Sue (or in a season of crime)
3. Girl loves me
Side c
1. Dollar days
2. I can’t give everything away
Side d
1. No plan
2. Killing a little time
3. When I met you
Oh and the no plan E.p. Is ok I guess but I think it’s a big cash grab.
Thank you sir. I enjoyed that as usual. Did you get out on Record Store Day?
I did not, I like to avoid crowds when I dig
Agreed man, I felt the same way.
Nice honest review and I agree with your assessment. This just reeked of a cash grab. It would have been better if they did a one year reflection on The album and his passing.
They did a cutout on the white vinyl edition like blackstar with a last David Bowie photo
nope, just a basic sleeve
you are very good looking for a geek - nice review though i still haven't bought this might do one day - no plan is a beautiful song though!
The one that they put out on RSD was going for $30 in store. I was like wtf...
But Im so loyal to him that I still bought it. Fuck. haha X
I considered getting the rsd version of this but ultimately went with Blackstar instead. Glad I resisted the lure of limited editions, really.
Yeah, good choice

Yeah I was wondering that when I saw the color on Discogs, seems like an odd color choice anyway
Okay.........here we go.

New to the channel so forgive me if you've answered this before but what's your set up? Thanks in advance

Hell I just downloaded both of the last two releases from David Bowie much better than buying them.
Very honest observation, this release is strictly for the die-hard Bowie fans that are completists.
Totally a cash in!
sadly
What Turntable are you using?
YP 211
They totally cashed in on his name.
Fuck death...
Just look t what they are doing to Prince.
yup
I agree, it is a disappointment. I went out on RSD and bought this, thought it was the blue vinyl version, but when I took it out it was black. The blue vinyl is no where to find in Norway. Also I have already got the Lazarus 3LP set.
Man, that's not cool
1st yo
TURBO KUNT congrats
anyone else think when i met you kinda sounds like the x men theme
