I agree 100%. People will laugh at me or give me a weird look when they ask what I do with all the fish I catch and I tell them I let them all go. I tell them catching them is fun but watching that fish swim away and not go belly up is more rewarding, at least to me, than catching it.
You nailed it , I try to do the same thing . We all want to catch The One , but once you do , you have the option to try and do it again and get as much if not more satisfaction out of doing it as you did the first time . Kudos
Releasing fish isn't always the best decision. You should cull the size of fish that is over abundant in that lake. If everyone catches 1 or 2 pound bass 90% of the time, then you should cull some of those smaller bass to reduce the competition for food and promote faster and larger growth per fish.
I agree completely with respectful treatment of the fish and resources. Great advice on how important it is to take care of the fish correctly if you're going to release them.
It's subjective! Just because you see it the way you do doesn't make it the only way or the right way! Some people only use live bait, some don't,some people only use cane poles! Some people don't fish at all, some do! Some people completely disagree with any kind of fishing! It's crazy how you have come to be on this high horse and throw insults at anyone who does anything you disagree with!
I think you missed the boat bud. You aren't wrong but the Old Bastards know their stuff. Never under estimate them. Ffs is a disgrace to the fish and fishing.
Never had a livescope and only use the depth map on my phone from my kayak. Before that it was watching the water and how it flowed to determine depth. Caught many fish in my lifetime so far and feel so much more accomplished that none of them came from cheater screens.
This is one of your best videos and education ever!! I want more, I’m an Oregonian transplant that fishes the Texas Gulf Coast relentlessly and I try to share this message to my fellow South Texas fishermen!! Thank you 🙏 🙏🙏
Man, I used to think you were crazier than a bedbug, but listening and watching your videos for a couple of years. I realize you’re spot on with most everything when I catch a bass I treat it like a baby because I’m not going to eat it I don’t let it mark all the slime off on the carpet of my boat gently put it back in the late so I can catch it again sometime also totally off subject one fishing rod with me the other day I just finished one Luer like you said, and try to prove one skill at a time even after fishing for 30 years, the funny thing is, I haven’t caught a bass in two weeks on my home lake, and that evening I caught to bass both keepers on my home lake, concentrating and slowing down fishing a buzz bait
I watched that movie with my dad a few times , my dad got me up one morning right before it started when I was very young and told me come watch this with me you will enjoy it
I’m a big proponent of catch and release. I once caught the same fish 20 minutes apart. The first time he broke off and the second time I caught him with the same bait as the first. I knew it because the first bait and hook was still in his lip!
When I was a kid we had a Harry & Charlie record album. They met up with Wilbur C Cratchpole to fish a secret hole. Wilbur’s preferred bait was possum tails😆. Man I’d love to hear that story again. Had it memorized as a kid.
The biggest event since Mohamad Ali and George Forman, "The Rumble in the Jungle" It's a tournament season without spotlighting. Just Randy and Ben fishing against each other, just those two fishing against each other for an entire tournament schedule. That would be the biggest event in bass fishing. Bring it on.
I caught 9 today. Catch / release. No FFS. Used depth reading + contour map off a bow mounted Lowrance unit. Fished based mostly on water depth (10-25 feet off bank) in a single huge cove for just over 6 hours. Had a blast ! Got a few on top water early. BIggest about 4 pounds. Most of the others in the 1 lb zone. I'd have stayed longer but the sun ran me out when it hit 96 deg at 2 pm.
So, do you have any respect for the fish you've caught using electronics? Do you respect the fish while you carry it around in your live well? You're not the saint you seemingly proclaim to be Randy.
Randy, I doubt you read this as you have never responded to any of my comments over the years but I want to tell you what happened on 7/23/24. It was a full moon and quiet all night with a calm in the air. One of the hottest nights of the year. Well, that morning my wife said lets get up early and go catch a bass. I said okay but warned her that the fish had fed all night that don't expect a good trip. Sure enough, early we headed out to her favorite fishing hole and you couldn't buy a bite. I told her, knowing this lake that we needed to go out to a deep area where I knew was some lily pads. She agreed some here we go. We fished there ten minutes and I thought my Texas rig was caught on a deep root of a lily pad. Then my 14 pound test mono started moving. I took up the slack line and gently set the hook. To my surprise and hers, my 7 foot medium action rod bent double. I slowly let her play out and lipped her with my left hand. She was a giant. I quickly weighed her and took a picture. 10pounds. She was beautiful and the hook was just at the edge of her mouth. The thrill of watching her swim off was just as much thrill as catching her. We love the sport and love the bass. We respect nature as these bass are a part of it. That God for bass. We loaded up our Ranger boat and went home smiling ear to ear. What a trip. We both went to bed that night still talking about that catch and how beautiful the bass was. Just wanted to share that true story.
This logic literally ONLY works if you’re fishing to feed your family. Outside of that it’s hypocritical. I mean keep it real bro, we’re essentially physically harming another creature for fun. Don’t fool yourself with twisted logic that we’re doing anything else besides that.
You talk all about respect and all but is that why your attitude towards co-angelers All you do is complaining about them and not including them or teaching them
I always use a rubber net, take hook out carefully and make sure the bass is recovered before letting them go. Also carry ginger ale to stop any bleeding. Just trying to bring good Karma to my boat! ✌🙌
Almost forgot to tell you. No FFS or any electronics were used on this date. Just having an idea of the habitat of the fish this time of the year with decades of knowledge.
Randy you recently commented about the lack of respect guys have with the legends one such Hank Parker. That dude has zero respect for bass as well. Watch his shows how he treats the fish tossing them back while the bass is doing a back flip
If it's not about how many fish you catch, then why tournament fish? It's all about how many you catch. If not, why not stop at the first five you may catch. No culling. This is so hypocritical, because this is exactly what you do. But hey, you got me to click on the subject, so I guess you win
I'm not as much a fan of MLF as I am B.A.S.S. but I do admire their rules of caring for the fish. There are B.A.S.S. anglers I lost respect for simply because of the way they disrespect the fish.
Agree with the handling of fish, but there's not a single biologist alive that would not recommend selective harvesting as part of a responsible management strategy. Harvesting bass helps bass populations. Look at South Africa and the fish being caught there. Up until recently it was forbidden to release bass in SA. Same for Japan. If what you're saying is true you would expect these countries to exhibit terrible health in their bass populations but the opposite is true. We see teeners being caught what seems like regularly in SA. Good chance the next world class fish will be caught in a place like SA or Japan. Catch and release was a BASS marketing strategy and nothing more. It has no basis in biology.
I will catch some flack for this, but it wouldn’t bother me if when bass fishing we were allowed only one single hook per lure. No more treble hooks. It bothers me to see bass gut hooked and hooked all in the gills and eyes. The worst lures are the multi-hook Alabama rig and those deadly three treble jerk baits. You might as well go ahead and gaff the bass when he comes up beside the boat.
Explain to me how it's respectful to the fish to haul them into a weigh in, parade them in front of an audience for self glorification, then release them with no real evidence that they will survive. Sorry Randy, l call BS.
About 80 % percent make it after weigh ins , people that just fish and release is about the same percent ,not all fish make it swallow hook to far down dropped held by gills I have seen it all in 46 years not only in bass but other species also
This is so true no one even really cares about the dumb weigh in anyway. Before social media and live coverage yea that was one thing now we already know who won before the whole stupid weigh in so why even have one. As much as mlf sucks they do it right catch and release on the spot
Short of radio tracking every released bass, how do we determine long term survival of released fish? Delayed mortality is a real concern. It would be interesting to know how the 80 percent survival figure is arrived at. Also, many pros probably favor catch, weigh and release- but would they boycott circuits that don't use this policy?
So if some young kid, let’s say 10 years old catches a nice bass from a pond or small lake and puts it on a stringer and drags it back to the house or camp, you would be the Karen that would go cus him out. You know sometimes you should probably keep your thoughts to yourself.. A fish is a fish
Randy please go back to talking about fishing ! That’s why I subscribed to your channel so I could learn from your experience. I didn’t subscribe to listen to the topics as of late !
There is only a few true sportsman in any fishing or hunting anymore todays high technology has ruiined all outdoor activities. SORRY BUT IM OLD SCHOOL NO FISH FINDER WHEN I WAS A KID WE JUST FOUND THEM WITH OUT ELECTRONICS AND NOW I HAVE A SMALL GARMIN FOR JUST TEMP AND DEPTH
Is selling toxic Lead fishing tackle (when safer and more environmentally friendly alternatives have existed for a long time) the right way to go about bass fishing?
That's Like All Those Rookies, Especially Trey Mckinney and Tompkins, their Century Belt, A JOKE, That Shouldn't Be Allowed To Be Put In The Record Book, THOSE KID'S SHOULDN'T BE THERE!!! PERIOD!!!
That's not a fishing lesson , That's a LIFE LESSON! You're the man. Ty
I agree 100%. People will laugh at me or give me a weird look when they ask what I do with all the fish I catch and I tell them I let them all go. I tell them catching them is fun but watching that fish swim away and not go belly up is more rewarding, at least to me, than catching it.

You’re why whatever water you fish is full of dinks
Your dead on with that and even the biologists are saying take the small ones out and that will produce bigger quality fish
@corvette_jake7225 good luck w that😊
I agree completely with respectful treatment of the fish and resources. Great advice on how important it is to take care of the fish correctly if you're going to release them.
The message in this video and your thoughts are spot on Randy. In a word it all comes down to “Honor”.

If they’re bastards, then where did they learn it? If no father, must have learned from some gay wad uncle or something.
It's his show, where he voices his own opinion. That's what people tune in to hear along with fishing tips.
You nailed this one , I agree with you completely
Man I miss old Harry and Charlie
I think the 80s and 90s were the best of BASS and BASSMASTER
Wish B.A.S.S. would bring back a Harry and Charlie cartoon or something like it! I really enjoyed it!

I agree Randy. I only use 6-12lb mono and floro. No swinging bass into the boat for me. LOL
I watched that movie with my dad a few times , my dad got me up one morning right before it started when I was very young and told me come watch this with me you will enjoy it

Hilarious 😂 I haven't thought about Harry and Charlie for 35 years. Thanks for the memories Randy 💯🎣🤙

Last week, I went caught about 25, the biggest about 3p to very small.
I've never used any electronics and just a small boat with a trolling motor.
Sir Randall its always good listening to your opinions
Always look forward to reading Harry and Charlie
I always enjoy showing a fish the world above the water,...
Totally agree. Keep it simple. Finesse. Practice. Respect.
So, do you have any respect for the fish you've caught using electronics? Do you respect the fish while you carry it around in your live well? You're not the saint you seemingly proclaim to be Randy.

@mjsbowl300 So you want me to abuse the bass? Thanks Goober!
@@guyfoscone3193- As long as you are not giving them CPR 😂
@@mjsbowl300 OMG Too funny, I didn't realize how witty you are. I better stop now or you surely will school me. 😉

👌 spot on
I see what you did there.
You keep fish in live wells. You don’t respect the fish.
Buddha said "Everything has a soul". Beautiful really

Never say never.
The guy that spotlight's a 50 lb bag, could care less if you don't respect him.
If your a fisherman you Have to take care of the fish period

You should not put other people down because they don’t align with your opinion. It bothers me terribly how our bass fishing community has divided.
He doesn’t like boat flipping. You’re not supposed to like boat flipping, a lot of those fish die
I don’t have a problem with boat flipping but the problem why is when you let them flop on the carpet
Respecting life and revering the planet??.. c’mon Randy give it up.. just kidding thank you for all that you do.

When they quit showing that in the magazine I quit subscribing to the magazine.
Have you ever boat flipped a bass
Ole iron jaw!!!! Son !!!:)
Randy, you use several different types of electronics.
So are you going to give them all up. I do not use any at all.
