If you’re headed west of Phoenix, check out Quartzsite Arizona. It’s a RV Winter Haven, but has many isolated places to camp off of I10. North of Quartzsite is Parker and Lake Havasu. Havasu has the old London Bridge there at the Colorado River. Whichever way you go, choose warm desert areas for the Winter.
I have a friend who is an accomplished, published horticultural illustrator. Exactingly accurate drawings of plants and flowers, but she finds all these subtle and beautiful ways to insert her sense of whimsy and wonder. Which is a roundabout way of offering you encouragement to keep at your practice drawings! Your way of reflecting on the details around you and embracing that natural beauty I think will serve your artistic ambitions well. Safe travels!
I've camped in my van in that area years ago. I live in the Ca. High desert and I've enjoyed it immensely. I'll be having to move soon and I'll miss the coyotes howling at the moon at night. The winds and the storms. Mist of all I'll miss the quiet of the nights.

Hi Maddy. Sometimes I cheat with my art work. I can screenshot anything on my tablet, tape a piece of tracing paper on it, and lightly sketch it out with a pencil. 🌹

Little America in Flagstaff has nice showers. Hwy 87 between Phoenix and Winslow is a beautiful scenic drive. I'm sure you've been through Page,AZ. Snowflake,AZ had a movie made about it called Fire in the Sky, I believe.
When i was watching Mariah Alice's channel I noted how her thoughts came to life in the deserts and now so do yours. That scenery really is something else. You are brave to clamber over these rocky landscapes full of cacti because if you'd hurt yourself there'd be no one around to help. It seems such a pain to set up that table despite how beautiful it is. Such an effort. Not sure I'd bother. 10:00. There's something so serene relaxing and satisfying about seeing you and Eliza walking through that red ravine which to my way of thinking was formed by erosion yet flora has recolonized it. The whole scene evokes a sense of renewal and revitalization.
Nice video Maddie. You have a knack for finding beautiful panoramas and landscapes. I so enjoy the still and quiet with only birds sounds in the background. You also seem to have an artistic eye as well. I think I would enjoy the desert. I would spend my time hunting critters!

Welcome to my state. I love the vast wilderness. There is a State Park across from Windsor AZ on I-40 that has the best hot showers anywhere. Homolovi State Park. Endless hot shower is a requirement in our house build in the wilderness. (Priuslife Nomads Off Grid Community)

I just bought a Canon M50 as well. (I’m assuming based on the class that’s what you bought.) A bit of a learning curve but I’m confident I’ll be up to speed soon and imagine you will too. One big tip I’ve learned from watching several tech videos; don’t worry about color grading. The M50 is very good at getting it great automatically. For most of us it’s just not worth the time. Be careful with lenses. You can quickly go down rabbit holes and spend a lifesavings. 🤣 I have the 15-45 kit lens, a Canon EF-M 22 and after lots of research a Helios that I’m waiting on an adapter for but super excited for the possible vintage look it can create. I’m guessing the kit lens will be great for you but the 22 is really nice for low light shots.
Hey congrats on getting an M50 yourself! I appreciate you sharing what you've picked up. :) I'm already a little bit down a rabbit whole with lenses XD... I went for the Sigma 16mm and it's been a lifesaver for low light conditions!

Also I'm retired, 64 and love seeing you young females take to the road in a much more healthy Jack Kerouac way. I recommend the "The Dharma Bums" by him and the obvious "On the Road." The main reason for my post is: after your journey have you considered publishing your sketch journal? Your drawing are so well done. I'd purchase a copy. Has anyone mentioned how nice you look? While living in you van with limited access to clothes and showers you always look so beautiful! NOT BEING CREEPY, I'm a woman and live on the other side of the world but just wanted to let you know. Also, please don't say you bought that camera for better videos for us! Hannah has been filming on an iPhone for years and her shots are amazing. Spend you money on what you like❤️ so if that's a camera than it's a camera but don't think we wouldn't watch if you don't have an expensive camera 😘

Hello Maddie-I very much enjoy your, Mariah and Anna's videos. Now, absolutely no, it's not for me but I love the hygge vib I get from them. Also I'm retired, 64 and love seeing you young females take to the road in a much more healthy Jack Kerouac way. I recommend the "The Dharma Bums" by him and the obvious "On the Road." The main reason for my post is: after your journey have you considered publishing your sketch journal? Your drawing are so well done. I'd purchase a copy. Has anyone mentioned how nice you look? While living in you van with limited access to clothes and showers you always look so beautiful! NOT BEING CREEPY, I'm a woman and live on the other side of the world but just wanted to let you know. Also, please don't say you bought that camera for better videos for us! Hannah has been filming on an iPhone for years and her shots are amazing. Spend you money on what you like❤️ so if that's a camera than it's a camera but don't think we wouldn't watch if you don't have an expensive camera 😘
