- We all love Valve.. Heck, we love ‘em so much we made a channel devoted to them. But oh man, have they frustrated their CSGO players with some controversial updates.Welcome to Valve Guides. Now, I know the topic of some of these updates are controversial. So again, I will do my best to remain neutral when discussing the topic. However these 7 updates really shook up and frustrated the CSGO community. So without further delay, let's get into it

I miss it too. At half time someone would win the last round and then the VOIP would erupt with people screaming and just this big bit of chatter and stuff. It was pretty interesting

Things valve must add
1. MP5
2. Unranked 5v5
3. Being able to sell items back in competitive if you accidentally bought something
c0rrupt3d mp5 WAS added but they replaced it with the mp7 so it isn't too much of a replicated CS source
The option to sell weapons in comp can't be added otherwise people can just sell stuff to get op stuff quickly and pros deal with what they have
c0rrupt3d and unranked 5v5 PROBALY can be added but new players may not know all about the game and might end up leaving and getting a ban which will mean -1 player

Rank system update is a really good update the elo stayed the same but the physical rank changed and you know something is really wrong when there are more players in Global than in all of silver

I'm playing w/ and against LE's on faceit and my MM rank is MG1. I just top frag and win 4 games out of 5 but can't rank up. Don't say it is good, maybe some peoples didn't deserve their ranks but now it's the same :)
***** Exactly, and all anyone did was coplain about it. I was LEM before the rank update, and got knocked down all the way to MG2 after inactivity. Instead of complaining, I grinded my way back up and now I'm close to getting supreme.

D1vide! But Negev update didn't really change anything. People still use it rarely. I've seen more players dying because they used Negev improperly than those who knew how to use it. One Negev guy even accused me of wallhacking because he was spraying through smoke and I killed him.

I hated the rank update the most. And when I say, 'hate', don't take that lightly. I was Gold Nova 3, and I got deranked, all the way down to SILVER. ONE. Yes. And now, I'm still there, not being able to rank up at all. I'm in games filled with smurfs and hackers because silver one is the easiest rank to get to.

Global, think I went down to LEM. Valve just doesn't care about us anymore. It's so sad but yet also so true. When did they last time listen to us? Several pros begged them not to add skins to the game, as it would make Valve focus more on the whole market about, and look where CS:GO stands today. "Is CS:GO dead?" "Why'd Valve ruin csgo?" and the list goes on... And on... And on. . .
z0m as a tf2 player who migrated to csgo I can say for a fact csgo is treated incredibly well, at least as well as valve can treat any game

I was a gold nova 3 during the deranking update. I went all the way down to silver 2. Now I still can't get out of silver 2 due to how hard it is to rank up, especially as a solo player. Your rank is judged by how much your team wins, not by how good of a player you are. I stopped playing ranked after I went 31-14 with the rest of my team doing absolutely horrible and losing the game with me deranking from silver 3 to silver 2 because of it. Completely ruined the ranked gameplay for me. I'm done playing ranked.
Okay, but at silver 2 any decent player can easily carry the team. If you are massively underranked you will always rank up fast. The derank update simply shifted the rank names relative to the ELO, the ELO values remained relatively unchanged.
tom merchant No man. The problem is that I'm a "decent" player, but most of the scrubs I get matched with are literally people who just bought the game, while the other team is full of smurfs. It's ridiculous. This ranking system sucks. It's done nothing but get people to pay global elites to boost their accounts. I loved the old one.
Never played with the old system personally, but I have been at silver level with the new one and it didn't take long to rank back up.

I was silver elite master and had many dereanks and upranks. I was close to gold nova after being stuck in silver for a very long time (won4 matches all of them top mpv and top fragging.) Well that's what I thought anyway. Then the rank system change happens and I went all the way down to silver 1 and it was harder than solve elite master was before xD. Any way I am gold nova 2 now and I have had csgo for well over a year.

+Sonikku Yoshi the reason you derank is because the elos required for each rank changed and your current elo is in a lower skill group so if you lose one game, you will derank to that rank. That doesnt mean you suck because everyone in your rank deranks along with you but the ones who are better keep their ranks or even rank up
Im a noob too. Before the update I was Gold Nova 3; then the day of the update I lost 1 a close match. It reset my whole account with no rank. Then I swept my next match top fragging, and got a new rank...................................... Silver 1. I got back up to silver elite but the system is too broken so I just don't bother playing in the competitive scene anymore.
Before the R8 Update, a friend wanted a revolver ingame but thought Valve don't add this. To be fair he thought about big revolvers. I loved the bug that you can make your revolver ready and have one shot that you can shot without delay and with best accuracy.
The Rank balancing update was shit. Balancing is a good thing but not this way. Every lose was a safe derank until you reached the correct rank. But you also get frustrated and plays bad and get some more deranks. I hate the complete rank system. You need kills and only kills. You need tactics and teamplay and not only aim. When you play as CT the wrong spot for kills, you probably get no uprank. When your team suck at playing there spot, you can't carry them with no/bad info.
Today I played solo, 3 players were totally toxic. You missed one shot = noob and silver. Best is also yelling at me where the enemy is. In this situation I can't understand what they are saying and can't here steps.
I hare players that can't make clear calls. Don't tell me where to watch. Tell me where you aming or my other teammate ist aming or give me short info.
In this game I was an headshot ramp on dust 2 and was fully exposed to long and was watching short and long. They yelled at me that I should watch only short. My other teammate was on CT and I can't see if he aims mid, b or long. Also if they hear that someone is short, he can tell me that someone is short. Also he can tell me where my mate is aming, so I can choose a better position.
But my team mates got some reports for abusing text chat and also WH. Why WH you might ask? Well one mate had one strange behavior. First it looked if he had turned the spin bot on. He suddenly aimed on the ground in the buy round. Maybe he turned on the wrong cheat. Also he knew a lot after this. As enemy you don't will notice this but when you watch this and also knew the info that was given, he can't knew some enemy's.

The matchmaking update destroyed my friendbase. I have over 217 steamfriends. 180 of them are csgo players. Before mm update allways 100+ online playing csgo. Now, just around 10 online.

I have to agree that the old sounds were better, for a good two weeks after I was struggling with how different the sounds were, it would have been better to gradually change it over a few updates rather than all at once

I played with my cousin on his account (s4), we werent playing seriously, i said "Lets play like silvers!" i took mp9 (it was cobblestone on ct side) and i rushed to mid as fast as i could and i killed 4 enemys... RUNNING AND GUNNING IS FUN

I HATE the rank shift update. I happened to lose 9 games in a row since the game became so unbalanced with players from every rank playing in the wrong skill groups. I went from nova master to silver 4. Almost every game I lost was a de rank. And now since silver has so many more players that are either too shit to play with or smurfs that make the game extremely unfair, it makes it extremely hard to rank back up. I'm only se right now because every time I get back up to sem I go on a bad losing streak and get the worst players as team mates. And then if I try to que up with friends, there's always smurfs on the other team. Silver is such a terrible skill group and near impossible to get out of. I stopped playing the game for over a month because of that update. They should of just added more ranks instead of lowering everybody's.

Karl My Suitcase the players aren't better. Silver is terrible and hard to get out of. Even if you do good in your games, there will always be too many smurfs that make the games impossible to play. Or your team mates will lose all hope after losing the first round and not want to play anymore. Then there's the people who "aren't trying" and the people that are throwing. It's terrible.

Yeah, that's cause EVERYONE got deranked but the game won't show it to you untill you actually lose a game. In reality every player was around 3-4 ranks lower than before the update, and unless they won 30 games in a row, as soon as they lost they were gonna derank.

This is exactly what happens when small companies that did exactly what the gamers wanted to get popular become big; they become solely about achieving as much money as possible by any means necessary and essentially "sell-out" their fans.
Its video game company moves like this which have turned me away from gaming all together. There are so many things that fans want out of the video game series they love, but companies refuse to listen and end up screwing themselves over by making pointless/unbalancing updates or just releasing more micro-transaction/DLC content.
This is why Call of Duty is close to dying. This is why Valve is focusing all its efforts on Steam and making cases for CS: GO instead of actually making good games or adding content to the games they already have. This is why Blizzard is going downhill as a video game company as they continue to disappoint with their over-hyped and incomplete new IP's.
Thankfully the gaming community is getting tired of DLC and micro-transactions overshadowing the actual quality of the game itself. We're getting tired of companies over-hyping every game they make, even going as far as featuring gameplay with amazing graphics and features but having them down-graded or removed all together in the final product (I'm talking to you Ubisoft and "No Man's Sky").
4Tifier srry dude but COD is no where close of dying. With its support from commercials and youtubers and casuals, it would take a very big screw up on Activision's part to kill the franchise.

i won 28 games in a row after the derank wave and the loss after gave me a derank
i deranked 6 times during the derank wave i would only rank up once every 2 to 3 months

I think the smgs ruin it.
Most annoying updates:
- you can‘t voice chat with enemys in halftime anymore
- you can‘t open the console while playing anymore
- there is no way to mass buy starter pistols and make a fun explosion with a HE grande
- 7 freaking days of waiting for every trade
- and betting of cause I mean even though not everyone likes it stuff like this keeps the game alive
Everything which is fun gets taken out of the game for no reason.

The new ranking system at first pissed me off so much, I was on a 7 game winning streak while Nova 3, this is when I first began playing CS:GO and they implemented the new system, I won another 3 games, lost 1 and got de-ranked.

that just means you did not have enough elo to keep your rank. But it does mean you are close to your old rank if you won so many games
Not anymore because inactivity makes you lose elo. I have a Silver 4 friend who can keep up with our group (mg1-dmg) just fine. But he plays very rarely.

It's funny. I remember getting the beta for CSGO and there seemed to be two camps of people. "hurr durr we want new weapons and new game" and then people who wanted classic CS. Did you not think about adding in the tagging and movement nerfs? They weren't really controversial when they came out, but it completely changed the game respectively. (Before anyone talks about AWP movement being mentioned, I was referring to an overall change).

Like the R8 update, playing Casual Office with that thing when it first came out was so funny and fun.
The worst update was probably the ranking system because it shook the whole counter strike community. Things such as the revolver people got used to it quickly but that took time because it took me a whole 2 months to get back to my original rank.
With the new ranking system I deranked from mg2 to silver 4, hurts man
The revolver update was the reason I fell all the way from SUPREME to MG2...
Not to mention I felt like shit because I simply could not shoot at anyone while holding a spray pattern of any kind...

I was mge before the update, then after the update I went on a 7 game win spree without a rank up, then I lost 2 games and de-ranked!
I was already a complete noob when the r8 revolver update came and it made things so much worse, but at the time I didn't realize it and thought that was usual.

the revolver had so much potential they should have added something like the 500 s&w magnum as a bigger version of the Deagle more accuracy on range higher damage (only 1 shooting mode like the deagle 1 hit point blank against unarmored opponents in the belly, higher recoil when tryin to spray 5 shots in the mag and 10 in your pockets better armor penetration slower reloading lower damage drop off.....)

I did a game with over 80 points and my other 4 teammates had 20 or less and I didn't rank up because the rest of my team dragged me down, and I often find myself having this problem but occasionally I get a good team

The "Deranking" update was needed. A large vac wave went off causing lower ranked players to go up in rankings due to it being easier. You would see people who belonged in nova 2 go up to MGE/DMG/LE. For those of you who deranked, if you weren't able to get your rank back, you went to exactly where you belonged.
