"It's another gloomy day at Bootleg Zone. Pokémon master Old Man being wacked by the envious Nine Tails. While Pidgeotto has a shocked look when faced with Wabuu & his shotgun."
Alternative: Squirtle uses water gun. Old Man's Ivysaur doesn't care. Old Man: "oh no! My Pokémon is completely useless now." Phelous: "actually, water gun isn't really effective against your Pokémon. Ivysaur still can fight. And win!" Old Man: "no, unfortunately, it's completely useless now." Old Man gives up.
In order to get the deformations out (like on the Staryu) you might try to put the figure in hot water for a short time and then streighten out the deformation before it cools. It's not guaranteed to work, but many cheaper plastics are quite succeptible to temperature changes and can be 'improved' (I'm hesitant to say "fixed", that would take a miracle) that way...
The officially licensed Suicune figure also looks flattened like that though. At least this bootleg version looks like it's able to stand. My official one never did.
Hello, actually packing a minifigure and a card together is kind of a staple here in Europe, it's the standard format of many succesful (and gorgeous) toylines like Gormiti, Dinofroz, Xenox, Megantik, Bumega, Kronox and many many others.
I figure they're not just smushed together like this though? Both myself and Phelan are Canadian, and I know that we have toys here that come packaged with cards, but usually the card is more protected than this.
They do that all the time with Japanese toys I got a set of Naruto mini figures and all of them came with a trading card as well as a piece of candy Thing is the figures were from like 2005 so that's like almost 19 year old candy there
My first thought when recalling a toyline that did the whole "minifigure and card" thing is Bakugan. But those were all magnetic so the cards are actually pretty stable.
I don't think this bootleg came out during generation 4. While there is a lot of generation 4 pokemon on it, the package also shows Zorua which is a 5th generation Pokemon which was first revealed in February of 2010
There's a poster for the Zoroark movie too which I think came out in mid to late 2010 in Japan (before the Gen V games did at least) but I could be mistaken on the date.
@@CoffeeFlavoredMilk You'd think that they'd put some Gen 4 minifigs in if it was released that late into it's lifespan... Maybe they were just getting rid of old stock?
Not criticizing at all but it's always been interesting to me that you're a Pokemon fan, like of all the things we know you follow and are a reasonably big fan of Pokemon has always seemed like the biggest outlier, like it doesn't quite seem to fit with your other fandoms, but variety and the spice of life and all that, I get it. Not complaining at all, it's brought us the joy of things like this set, the Prodigy Pets and all those unbearably cheap but wonderful 90s VHS tapes. Honestly though I think my favorite part on a lot of these is what your phone thinks the Chinese is saying. That's a friggin' gold mine.
The Takara Tomy monster collection figures are like my favorite things to collect. some of the boot leg figures are actually smaller than they are supposed to be. Lugia for instance is a bit shorter than the real thing (which I own). Even in the actual figure line the figure scale was off btw but here it looks even worse because some of the figures seem slightly scaled down. The actual staryu figure has a much better base than that.
From where I'm from when I was very young, things like these were a thing - at least not Pokemon. Some of them were classic Super Sentais like Google V, Dynaman, Daidenjin and Sun Vulcan. These were sold in stores in which you get to buy one. It's either a toy but mostly trading cards - most of them were bootleg. Recently I saw this thing except with bootleg Minicons.
Still neat to finally see you review a bootleg Armored Mewtwo figure since I had a decent version when Mewtwo Returns originally came out (not sure why it’s still not on Blu-Ray yet) which I wish I didn’t get rid of since they’re now pretty hard to find.
Some or most of those also turned up in gum ball machines at stores and bowling alleys. Same or copied molds, not sure, but the sizes are off in the same way and the variations or lacking of in copyrights on them is very similar.
Steffy is me at the end of a long shift at work dealing with a customer coming in the store at the last second xD "You know what, SHUT UP" Interesting showcase and very funny bit at the end, awesome job as always! I do wonder what you do with all the bootlegs you have, I doubt you burn them or you'd get a bad case of toxic fumes lol
I really enjoy how slow and methodical he is, showing all the little text and riffing on the bizarre packaging, front to back. It allows the veiwer to fully take in the strangeness and poor quality of the product. I love these toy reviews. 🔥
That Absol figure is actually from the Pokemon Trading Figure Game, which was a very short-lived Pokemon tabletop game released in the 2000's, so the figure could be legit, just missing the base and repackaged
I know. It's a shame Dingo Pictures never made a movie called "Ground lying AND THE king" With an armored yellow Mew Mew (nasally voice) a nasally stupid surprised bird And of course SCENE INTERRUPTING Ursaring
I've actually got that Pidgeotto! It came inside a surprise Pokéball, which itself came from one of those "Lootcrate" things It also came with candy that literally tasted like toxic waste
Very cool, but I’m still very, very curious to see you review bootleg figures of Xenochu and Bulbamorph, aka Xenomorph version figures of both Pikachu & Bulbasaur.
Huh, I never knew the armored Mewtwo didn't have an official figure. That explains why they usually don't have a tail, just a nub. Interesting that this one has a tail and fully modeled back armor!
What the hell, RUclips?! Phelous added to the beloved Bootleg Zone and you once again fail to notify me?! For shame, RUclips - for shame! Anyway, I apologize for my tardiness! Nice to see Bat Hero died as he lived: berated by Steffi and all else in the immediate proximity! Got to love Stone Cold as a Pokemon trainer, though - I'd love to see pro wrestling do a crossover with Pokemon someday, but only if you get to be the announcer, Phelous! I loved this video and am so sorry I didn't see it sooner. Hopefully I'll get notifications for your channel like I'm supposed to in the future! Late or not, I had an awesome time watching your latest Bootleg Zone, and I can't wait to see what oddities you conjure up next time. Keep on being amazing! ♥
Honestly, packaging trading cards with tiny figurines DOES sound like something The Pokemon Company would do, even if it'd only be for a promotion or something.
Has bathero finally met his fate? Prey for peckish pokemon? Masticated by miniature monsters? Tune in next time, same phail time, same phail channel! ❤
3:00 the double happy faces represent the reaction of Phelous' fans when he uploads a new video 🙂🙂
I think it's a warning to make sure your child hasn't been replaced by a changling or skinwalker before handing them this toy.
"It's another gloomy day at Bootleg Zone. Pokémon master Old Man being wacked by the envious Nine Tails. While Pidgeotto has a shocked look when faced with Wabuu & his shotgun."
Squirtle uses water gun. It's super effective. Old Man's completely useless now.
Alternative: Squirtle uses water gun. Old Man's Ivysaur doesn't care.
Old Man: "oh no! My Pokémon is completely useless now."
Phelous: "actually, water gun isn't really effective against your Pokémon. Ivysaur still can fight. And win!"
Old Man: "no, unfortunately, it's completely useless now."
Old Man gives up.
I'm always happy to see Pokemon bootlegs. Brings back good memories of buying stuff every Sunday from the local flea market.
6:07 Now, we need Dingo's Pokémon ripoff: Ground lying and the king
I heard about trainers having their pokemon disobey, but outright leaving ? that's a new low only Bathero could ever achieve.
Whats about snivy? She left her original trainer
@@reptile1687 And Froakie left several Trainers before he met Ash.
@@TheEmeraldWeirdo he did? i thought he just liked training his fighting skills alot
And in a battle against Victoria, TX gym leader Stone Cold Steve Austin, to boot!
Who doesn't love a Pokemon Parody with Bat Hero and Steffi?😆Pure comedy gold!👌💛
That skit at the end was so damn bizarre, I love it.
The coloring on armored Mewtwo makes me wonder if the bootlegger thought they were painting a Digimon.
The return of the stupid surprised bit made me laugh 😂 Pidgeotto is my favorite!
5:49 the diamond eyed spirit! MAGAWD!
I'm honestly a little impressed by how good the Absol looks.
The officially licensed Suicune figure also looks flattened like that though. At least this bootleg version looks like it's able to stand. My official one never did.
Wick: "I've developed a potion that will shrink all the Pokemon in the world."
Dragonlord: "You idiot! The spell made them look hideous."
I’m surprised some of these actually look passable at the very least.
Hello, actually packing a minifigure and a card together is kind of a staple here in Europe, it's the standard format of many succesful (and gorgeous) toylines like Gormiti, Dinofroz, Xenox, Megantik, Bumega, Kronox and many many others.
Yep, Huntik too. Surprising these are not more common in the US too.
I figure they're not just smushed together like this though? Both myself and Phelan are Canadian, and I know that we have toys here that come packaged with cards, but usually the card is more protected than this.

25 years later and the 35 year old 10 year old Ash Ketchum has achieved his life long goal.
Still didn't give Misty a new bike, as far as I know.
Well, she got her bike in Episode 273 (Gotta Catch Ya Later!). A Nurse Joy fixed it.
He did in the episode she left
I don't think this bootleg came out during generation 4. While there is a lot of generation 4 pokemon on it, the package also shows Zorua which is a 5th generation Pokemon which was first revealed in February of 2010

Well the picture of Zorua is from the movie which came out before Gen 5 games. But that is a good observation
That mutated Kyogre makes a strong argument for cleaning up our oceans.
That pigeon Pokémon is pure HORROR 🤣
Too bad it wasn’t GOLLECT🤣 always love the insane translations
8:30 Better Colored Bootlegs sounds like a good name for an early-10s indie rock band that had one crossover hit and were never heard from again
Watching videos of a grown adult playing with terrible bootleg toys like he was a kid again never fails to amuse me.
the stunner has become one of the key things from this series
Bat Princess never gets old... "I guess" (in Phelous voice)
Double happy face means "infinite happiness" and "welcome to the children".
4:32 Nice to know the set is "Tender" and doesn't Whomp. I'm sure the bootleggers are huge Recess fans.
Not criticizing at all but it's always been interesting to me that you're a Pokemon fan, like of all the things we know you follow and are a reasonably big fan of Pokemon has always seemed like the biggest outlier, like it doesn't quite seem to fit with your other fandoms, but variety and the spice of life and all that, I get it. my favourite piplup catchphrase always was ‘TERROR’
1:40 to add another gen, you have Zorua (the dark fox) to the left which is generation 5
black eyed entei could feature in a creepypasta
Needs more hyperrealistic Ekans
Love the skit at the end always funny.
lol the ending, the sound levels going of the scale! lol
2:52
Naught to three, sad onions
9:59 that's the reason why you shouldn't do the fusion dance with a smurf
7:41 it has not just Tomy marked, but also Nintendo there as well.
Nintendo is written here in it’s Japanese Kanji as 任天堂
Still being able to reference “stupid surprised” after all these years shows Phelous has more consistency than Pokemon
Hey, great Bootleg Zones episode, as always.
The return of Steffi Love and Bathero. I love it.
i looooove bootleg pokemon figures! i wish i encountered them in the wild
thank you for showcasing them! some wild stuff in there...

Well I guess Piplup is the second most popular pokemon ever, at least according to this package.
Steffie is obviously more of a Digimon fan.
"Most of these Pokemon bootlegs are Sooooo Stuupiiid ! He He He !" - Wabuu
I'm sure everyone's pointed it out already but in the top left there's also Zorua which is generation 5 so this package is all over the place
Oh god i actually have some of these figurines
I always knew Voltorb looked familiar, after all his breakdown role was James Bond Thunderball
I thought it's a Jigglypuff seen from above

7:41 the three Japanese kanji characters above tomy are Nintendo 任天堂
If you take off all the bags, does it show a picture of a naked Pokemon underneath, or does that only work for packages of bar nuts?
Kyogre has a lucky fin!
i had one of those Suicune figures growing up, wish I still had it.
I’ve gotten a few of these figures before. Bootleg Chimchar’s head falls off.
Have you heard of the Jamaican bootleg line:
🇯🇲 *Pokémon, mon* 🇯🇲
*SOS*
Wait, that weird blue lion thing is called Reiko??? Does it also want to wear Shao Khan's helmet? :P

Deformed Stone Cold Beve Austin killed me... WUT?
Oh boy..! Where have I seen THOSE cards before? /s
Honestly, packaging trading cards with tiny figurines DOES sound like something The Pokemon Company would do, even if it'd only be for a promotion or something.
Wait... so the bootleg company predicted the gibberish word salad names for the paradox Pokemon?
Phelan could TOTALLY play Manny from Ice Age~ >w
Dude I could actually find use in these, we're playing a boardgame homebrew Heroes of Might and Magic with Pokemon.
Piplup is my nephews favorite. I did a painting for him
I think a friend from my DND group has some of these.
takin 25 years to master something? that tracks
This video made me hungry for some Pidgeotto legs. Maybe I'll get some slowpoke tail on the side.
I had bootlegs pokemon cards as a kid lol
Personally, I think that Lapras looks kind of evil, like it's plotting my death. Also, now I want Pidgeotto for dinner.
I feel like there's a cheaper and more simple way to package these figures and cards. Maybe in a lunchbox?
And then there’s Zoura hiding in the corner which was Gen 5!
Has bathero finally met his fate? Prey for peckish pokemon? Masticated by miniature monsters? Tune in next time, same phail time, same phail channel! ❤
Aliexpress? Dang he’s bold. I can smell the led paint from here
If they made something like this officially it'd be super neat
They did,
Back in the day, there was a game called the Pokemon Trading Figure Game, and you would get the figures, and they came with a card pack
Ngl I actually want some of these. I’ll gladly take the Jirachi as he’s my favorite legendary.
CALL ME ELF MONSTER
With this cards I can become a Pokemen Master.
ash's mustache in season 1 never made any sense to me
Wow, this product is cursed and bootleg!!!
That Steve Austin thing is a riot. Is that a knockoff too? Was it done by Spitting Image?
Nah, it's legit, just silly. I've had it for a long while, heh.
This Pidgeotto has seen some shit that would turn you white.
That also explains its missing feather colours.
Mew 2 has got jaundice
bootleggy mon gotta catch em all in a plastic bag.
omg! it's an advent caledar! 24! and the last one is the shiny!
If I'd be into poo-key-nom-nom-nom, I'd love to have these.
Dont know nothing about Pokemon so I got to ask could you use these cards for the actual game?
These cards do not at all play like the actual Pokemon card game, so no they would not work as actual Pokemon cards.
some of these minifigures look like they're on drugs. Kids, please don't do drugs!
