I just bought one used here in my area. This is the same thing that is happening to mine but I noticed it has to do with a memory card. It works fine without the card but I need a card to take more than a dozen pictures, right? I have tried 2 microSD cards with a full size adapters....one wouldn't even read (just said "card not usable" on the screen & won't let u do anything); that one the card adapter is not working right. The 32GB one with new card adapter makes the camera do the same thing when it is inserted. I have to remove card & battery to get it to turn off. Will turn on just fine with no card in it but can't store much on internal memory. Am still working on it. I know this post is almost 2 years old & have probably repaired or just bought a new camera, but I thought I would put the info out there for anyone who is still having issues.
Mine opens and retract immediately. I had enough with Nikon Coolpix. S200 stupid lens unit and bad focus, S210, S2700, S3000 they are all bad. I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS80 it is the best. Easy to take apart and fix.
Solution is not to buy Nikon. I have a Nikon Coolpix. 1 SD used tried new battery new SD it still says Lens Err. There is a reset? Where is it. Nikon says replace SD? Thats why everyone is using the cameras on their phones. These camera makers are clueless to making reliable cameras. My old Sony Cyber still works and new Sony. Sony made cameras for Canon & Nikon. Get a Sony! These two camera makers should go bankrupt!
Pretty much. Back when I used to use Nikon I always had problems. Now I just use my phone. Quality has gotten so good that it's hard to justify a point and shoot camera.
Firstly plug the camera on charger for half an hour. After that do the same procedure shown in the video. Make sure when camera lens goes off . Charge it immediately.
