    I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase one from a private seller that was cared for and fully documented. Not a chance from a dealer, unless you like getting screwed.

    Love your instructive vids. Excellent, down to earth presentation. I wonder what you do as you clearly have excellent mechanical skills. Currently own an 02 but was considering a used C8. Your conversation brings up a lot of points I did not consider. I think I'm just going to hang on to the C5 for now. Keep up the great work.

      Well I was a Submarine mechanic while active duty in the Navy working on the diesel backup generator, all refrigeration systems, atmosphere systems & misc hydraulics & plumbing. Then I crossed over to aviation briefly before I got out. Now I work as a site lead for a Navy rag squadron (civilian side). Thanks for watching! Yeah, my biggest apprehension about an out of warranty C8 is the uniqueness of parts and associated tools to maintain them.

    Mark, I posted this on one of your previous videos (Z51 vs non-Z51)...
    I've been enjoying your videos for a long time . Anyway, I used to have a C4 and then bought a C5 '01 from the factory with the Z51 Package (6 spd) which I recently traded in this 23yr old C5 (with only 31K miles on her) for a new C8 1LT Torch Red (non Z51) at a local dealership in Chesapeake about a few weeks ago. Just loving it. Well, I hated doing it, but I had them put the front license plate bracket on and I really believes it screws up the front appearance of the C8. I used to run my C5 withouth a front plate...but I got stopped twice by VA Beach (where I live) police years ago for no front plate...so I caved in and put the front plate on it. Well, I've noticed that you and your friend from Williamsburg on that video run your C8's without the front plate. Have you had any problems?
    BTW, I'm retired Navy (and retired Defense Contractor). I know you're moving to NC in the near future and you won't be running front plates legally.
    I also know that Virginia passed legislation making some traffic violations from primay offenses to secondary offenses (i.e. tinting, expired plates, expired inspections, broken lights, etc.)...but they doesn't include missing front plate.
    Shipmate, your thoughts about the front plate? Thanks, Mark S.
    Oh, and as far the warranty is concerned, I purchased an extended warranty 10 yr/60K miles bumper to bumper for about $2K...I plan on keeping this one...my wife said that at my age, this is my last sportscar! :)

      Like you stated a front plate ruins the front aesthetics of any Corvette. I've been running my Vettes in Virginia without plates and luckily I have never been pulled over.. yet. I always keep the plate behind my seat just in case. My thought process has been if I get pulled over and show I have the plate to just get off with a warning (wishful thinking). You could always say you normally have it on the dash and remove it for track days and forgot to put it back. Like you stated I will be moving to NC soon where the DMV has some sense not to require a front plate luckily.

      @@VetOnVettes , Mark thanks for your info...I have used the (I was at a show last week in MD or wherever and I forgot to put it back on...and in those two instances (in my C5) I was told to put it on...with a warning. The second time it happened, the officer let me off with a warning, but said that my plate was now in the system, and that should I get caught without it, this time I would receive a fine and points on my license... oh well...I guess i don't need the hassle. But I do see a lot of Vettes out there without their front plate. Keep up the good work!

      I went years in VA without a front plate and then got two tickets in one year and called it quits. The worst one was right outside my house while parked on the street... I still can't believe I got a ticket there. Overall, its just not worth the hassle imo.

    I’ve been looking for a car for three years now. Dealers still think it’s 2022 and gouging is everywhere. Finding a car that’s had the DCT filter changed according to the manual at 7500 is non existent. People buy these cars and never crack open the manual and buying one can cost you 20k

      I didn’t purchase the extended warranty because of the cost that and I don’t trust the dealership to honor it. And if you’re lucky enough and the dealership will actually honor the warranty the next problem you’re going to run into is there are no parts available. They’re all being used to build the new ones I’ve waited months for parts on my C8 because they just weren’t available.
      I love my C8 but I don’t like the experience of the dealership and hoping that it doesn’t break because they are in no hurry to fix it or honor the warranty

    This is the exact issue I have with Corvettes moving forward. It's too complex. The C8 is no longer for the home gamer in his garage. Take all your "out of warranty" comments and now apply it to an E-ray, lol.

      @VetOnVettes  3 месяца назад +1
