- I previously uploaded the dance scene, but it was when I first started, so the quality is pretty bad. But now that I have matured in my video making quality, I hope this will be more satisfying. Thanks

this movie has one of the best soundtracks
Yes!!😍🎶
I will never grow bored watching my favourite Movie ever
Same here. This movie is always worthy of repeated viewings.
Awesome - you had very good taste at a young age!! I was about 16 myself and have loved this movie and its soundtrack every since!!
0:58 the brilliance of Jeff Goldblum's awkward dad dance.
I laughed so hard at this! Especially because I have been accused of dancing like this!
As the saying goes "Dance As If Nobody's Watching!" This was a pivotal scene in Cinema because it showed the impact that Motown had on White Folks as well as African American Folks. The Anthology Album that Harold has in his Hands would be worth a "Mint" on Ebay by today's standards. Sadly enough Four Of The Fellows who were on The Album Cover are dead. Damon Harris who replaced Eddie Kendricks, Richard Street who replaced Paul Williams who killed himself, Dennis Edwards who replaced David Ruffin, and Melvin Franklin who was next to Otis Williams The Longest Running Temptation. The most notable are all dead. A Real Shame.
The awkwardness really is (purposefully) Meg Tilly's. As William Hurt's much-younger girlfriend, she's not part of that group or generation that knew and loved that music so passionately.
David Long You mean Alex’s girlfriend. She wasn’t involved with William Hurt’s character at that point.
One of my favorite scenes from The Big Chill :)
I won't say that my frat brothers (Duke, Class of 1977), their wives and I do either kitchen dances or play air guitar when we have reunions, because we don't. (Thank God, because my dancing makes Elaine Benes look like Cyd Charisse). But this charming moment from "The Big Chill" EXACTLY captures the mood and spirit of our times together. Within a few minutes, we slip back effortlessly into the patterns and rhythms of our old times from forty-plus years ago: nicknames, reminiscences, catching up, toasting our deceased brothers and sisters, the works. Thomas Wolfe was right -- You Can't Go Home Again -- but you CAN both remember and reenact what made that home so sweet. As Vladimir Nabokov said: "Speak, Memory."
Kevin Kline met his wife Phoebe Cates when she auditioned for the role Meg Tilly ultimately won. There's some trivia for you!
That sure is news to me!
And I bet Kevin spins Phoebe around the kitchen just his character did with his wife.
Kevin Kline is the only actor who I've ever heard that can actually sound like a low country South Carolinian without having lived there.
Did you know when they did the Dance Scene, they had to "Pretend" that they were listening to The Music, then they put the music in afterwards.
His farcical French is good too.
Love Kevin Klines dance moves :) especialy the one putting on the record.
Love that movie and the soundtrack.
Haozuxi
We truly needed a movie like The Big Chill.
Great movie and greater music🎶🎶🎶
The best scene of all!
😮ok
Rest in peace William Hurt 🙏💔
I saw thiss in 1983 the week after I turned 33. Now seeing this clip, and remembering the decade, and knowing what's coming, I'm ready to go.
you okay buddy?
Love this movie.
I saw this movie when I was about 11 or 12, I was never quite a normal child persay. I would dare someone of that age to actually understand and love this movie. I love it to this day!
Me too!!!
Thank you for posting this!!!! You've made my night.
You can't not get down to this!
GREATEST FLICK OF 80'S
Rest In Peace Mr William Hurt
You know what would be something, they did a Black Version but a group of folks get together and they play some Old School like Flashlight By Parliament.
1:13 "Look at the ceiling!"
1:14 "I... can't... breathe!"
My favourite scene in this movie
Look how young and skinny they are here.
This is Phil Dunphy's favorite movie, obviously.
Rest in peace William Hurt
OMG I am oficially one of those loosers who can say, "I saw it 20X" It's the anthem of my life LOL. Anyone second that emotion?
You ain't no loser.
jodi Muse I watch all movies that are excellent many times...😃
@jodi Muse, You're no loser. I've seen this film at least as many times as you! :)
aaand Meg Tilly is from my home town!
I never really thought about the words to this song in context of the movie, but its obvious you're supposed to, especially that first line.
So much History. The Anthology Album had in my opinion the "Last Best" Temptations Lineup four of which are now dead. Melvin Franklin (The Deep Voiced Singer) Richard Street who replaced Paul Williams 1939-1973, Dennis Edwards who replaced David Ruffin who sang lead on Ain't Too Proud To Beg, who was part of their Psychedelic Soul Era, Damon Harris who replaced Eddie Kendricks whose most successful work was on Papa Was A Rolling Stone (That George Michael Would Later Sample For "Killer/Papa Was A Rolling Stone"). Another funny story as you know by now was that they weren't listening to The Temptations when they were Dancing, it was added afterwards. Now when I listen to a Temptations Song, or any Motown Song I try to figure out which Funk Brothers played on it. Eddie Bongo Brown (Bongos), Benny "Papa Zita" Benjamin (Drums), Ivory Joe Hunter (Piano) and Jack Ashford (Percussion) as well as James Jamerson (Bass). In The UK and Australia they are still revered.
A triple LP
He made the scene! :)
Get down big chilldren!
Meg tilly doing the workout in those tights wowww!!!

Point taken.....I am much happier these days.
Ain't Too Proud to Beg

💞
bahahaha Jeff Goldblum dancing!
Great
It's a great movie and that scene was fun but now looks a little goofy.
The phrase is, "per se " (from the Latin, meaning "by itself "; which is a translation of the Greek kath auto.) If you're going to claim to be "special" in a good way, get your spelling right.
@Hamgammy
thanks!
My last brain cell :
It's ok but I prefer the sequel!!
Did anyone in the group liked Jeff Goldblum's character at all? He even strikes out with the Meg Tilly.
Michael’s the most fascinating of them, in a way. He’s clearly got a shallow streak, he’s happy to try cheating on his girlfriend, but he’s also the funny one of the group. He always makes them laugh, even when it seems like they don’t approve of his behaviour. And if you look hard enough you can sense that he struggles with a bit of self loathing and lost focus, which he covers up by being glib and witty. I think we all have had or been a friend like that at least once in our lives.
I think they all do. Michael was the goopy, dopey, nerdy friend we all had growing up.
I just don't think Brittany Spears will hold up.
You might like it more when you get older.
@acciomalfoy Haha, I thought of that too!
I just watched this again, and became even whiter and less coordinated. then i thought i was in a commercial from 1982 for Ragu tomato sauce. THen glenn close's butt woke me up. then i died from inoperable white man's overbite.
Badmolar "white man's overbite" -- very funny! (Although I wonder whether most people get the reference...)
I have never thought that 1:28 seconds would feel like an entire weekend with a bunch of whining hippes waxing for the nostalgic. They are having a mid life crisis and the audiences are suffering for it. Scenes like this make me cringe at the thought that I am lumped in with the baby boomers....man.
Never seen this movie. Don't think I ever will.
I love this movie, but a I a hopeless prig if I disapprove of its morals? Violating SEC rules by giving a friend illegal inside information about stocks isn't a beautiful act of loyalty. It'a a crime.
Well, U have to remember this is the 80s. Greed was good.
How embarassing.
Oh for you, maybe!
Gayest movie ever
Your gay for saying that
He's right it's pretty gay
Gay AF
So many typical and pretensious boomer comments here, a bit cringy.
are all jewish?
Garbage...this movie by hasn't age well.
Contrived and sappy. I wonder if these boomers are wearing MAGA hats now .
