probably to late but you can use low tack tape with a sharp edge and tape off a mm from the non skid onto the smooth surface of your white and press edge of tape down well so no bleed. painting if you use a finer napp roller sleeve and dry roller ahead of you work and then lay off paint with dry roller and no pressure you dont need to lay off with a brush.
The boat is looking great and those koalas and rock wallabies were tooooo cute :) Looking forward to seeing your e propulsion motor next time. Saw it on the back of your boat in this video and thought "that's new!" :)
I've had the same problem with paint leaking under the tape, then I read in some boat maint. book that one should use fine-edge tape rather than masking tape, and that did the trick. It's readily available in the same section of the hardware store. Enjoying your videos !!
I've used this tape before, its not the problem. It was caused first by the rain and then by the fact that it was stuck to the anti skid which is by nature very rough. no problem
It seems that you have a lot of continues maintenance. I get the feeling that you have more maintenance then other sailors. Maybe you could make a video on the state of your boat, the maintenance that has been done and things that need improvement? She looks better everytime though, i can see that too :)
Hi. Yeah tell me about it... After 4 years of constant use and 20k miles its time for me to go over most of the systems. In Indonesia its just not really viable to do this so thats why we are doing it all now while in Australia. Deck painting is one of the last big jobs to complete.
How is the bottom side paint? It looked great but you haven't said how you feel about whether it has held up or not. Just curious and adding to your algorithm. 😊 The anchor fix is "Learning By Doing"!
Australia, as told by most YT sailors nowadays: - 200-pound cangaroos that can put ya in a coma with a single punch! Australia, as shown by Vernon and Marie of Learning by Doing Saling: - Sweet koalas (and cute birds 😉) sleeping, and 17:50 nice little cangaroos that’ll eat from your hands! This video was pretty special, guys. eeel
Nice video
Thanks
Seeing the Magpie "resting" on its back I immediately had visions of Monty Python's 'Dead Parrot' sketch playing in my head.
haha.

Thanks for explaining the paint system. Mine needs doing too, but I was putting it off because I was so unsure about it. Lol. Looks good too mate!
Glad I could help!
Did you prime before you painted? Looks good.
Nope, the paint underneath was strong so I just sanded it lightly to key it up then rolled right onto that.
Hi Vernon and Marie, I hope you are going to use Kiwi Grip as the non-slip. André in Sydney
Something similar but without the added brand name price
Hi Vernon, loving the videos as always. Just wondering what the long-term sail plan is? I fancy Bora Bora :-)
Thanks. Plans at this stage are to sail south as far as Sydney in the new year then over to NZ around April.

The bottom paint to doing great, almost zero growth till now and thats 5 months. Boat is sliding through the water very well.
