It's true we were ruled by Portuguese and converted. But we are original natives of Goa for millenniums. And please dont bring religion and our love for Portuguese to provoke us. Respect our ideologies and culture and you are welcome. We love Portuguese culture bcoz it is what gives us a unique identity from rest of india 🇮🇳 (as it was ruled by british). Don't racialize the native goan from their own state. Don't forget how modern day india became a nation.

The 'Goan' Hindus ARE mostly 'Marathi manoos'. Check out Goa's population statistics in 1909 - over 80% was Catholic. This statistic changes to 95% for Velhas Conquistas Goans and 99% for Saxtticars.
Bandodkar's family immigrated to Goa from Maharashtra in 1911. (1910 Communist Revolution in Portugal meant 'Open Borders' for Goa.) Same for many other prominent 'Goan' Hindu politicians. Harish Zantye is from Ratnagiri (Zantye family keeps lying that the cashew factory was started by themselves when they were only cheap labour there, Zantye family got the factory from the European widow owner only after Liberation in 1961). What you wrote isn't supported by contemporary records. The Portuguese made sure that no Goans were killed in the 1510 conquest, they teamed up with the local Hindus and killed only the Bijapur Muslims. Read the English translation of Afonso de Albuquerque's letters online. Also, less than 60 persons in total were actually executed by the Goa Inquisition. Again, this is from their own records.
It was very easy for the Portuguese to convert Goans. The first thing they did after conquest of Goa in 1510 was to ban sati. A lot of Hindu widows converted and married Portuguese soldiers. The Portuguese also introduced their laws where Christian women can inherit property. So Hindu families without sons also converted, and their daughters also married Portuguese soldiers. There were also lower-caste Hindus (Kshatriyas and downwards) who didn't like the existing Brahmin leadership and so they also converted. Thus when temple demolitions began in the 1560s, only the Brahmin gotras left the villages and none of the other villagers left with them.

(The Parrikar government tried to have it shown in Goan schools and colleges, but nobody was interested.) The English translation of Alfonso de Albuquerque's letters are available online. In 2015 a British historian also wrote a book based on contemporary eyewitness accounts. You can buy it on Amazon and read it yourself:
