- Shigmo is Goa's post-harvest festival. When the Portuguese took over the control of Goa in the 16th century, they banned all the Indian festivals and only the Portuguese introduced Carnival was allowed. This is a little story of how the converted Christians literally tricked the Portuguese rulers to celebrate this festival by changing its name to Intruz.

Shree Jagadamba Shasthi Shantadurga Mata Ki jai.......🙏🏻🙏🏻
YOU are awesome man .💪
Nomoskar love from Assam ♥️
To know about various cultures and their history is my favourite subject, but honestly I'd never heard about Shigmo or Intruz, since Goa was always in my bucket list and Ethereal is my favourite channel it is not possible for me to skip this video. In my layman's mind, I always pictured Goa as a land of beaches, churches and laid back life, but you helped me see a little bit more than that... for that I want to thank you.
Regards #Ashishchandrana
This is very beautifully potreyed!
The flow of your storytelling! Man you got something special for sure. ❤

Thank you for this 🙏🙏. You are in of those people who inspired me to experience and make stories of bharath
Thank you for this video 😢
From where you got this Information that Portuguese stopped this festival? Even if this kind of celebration happened, it was not stopped by the Portuguese but people got converted to Roman catholicism an stopped this kind of celebrations. This people who are celebrating this festival don't belong to that villages but migrated there from other villages of goa during Portuguese rule.
You capture beautifull scenery 👏👏
Beautiful as ever 😍

Goan were not allowed to practiced religion under Portuguese
These videos should have millions of views.. sadly our youth is more focussed on reel, tik tok clickbaits and body revealings..
If shigmotsav was coup in Portuguese point of view than what how will you describe carnival ? Full of vulgarity, alcoholic atmosphere, foreigners drug parties.
Thank you! Beautiful. Can really appreciate it as I am originally from Goa.
Jai hindu dharma
Great job thanks for showing our village haritage and culture of Dongarim thanks bro love from Dongarim Goa🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Bhavesh. I had a great time getting to know more about Intruz. Do share with friends and family.
my mother grew up here and i am proud of this culture
Not only shigmotsav, Portuguese restricted many Hindus rituals. Even they restricted Hindus from taking bath in early morning. Portuguese made life of Hindus miserable for 450 years, only those Hindus used to get privilege who were ready to convert their religion to Christianity.
Few kilometres from Dongrim there is basilica bom Jesus church which was built by demolishing Shiva temple. Unknowingly some Hindu brothers and sisters go to pray near Francis Xavier who was mass murderer of Hindus and founder of court of inquisition barbaric in goa, where those Hindus were tortured who were not ready to convert.
History of goa is kept hidden for some political and religious issue but truth prevails.
How old are you ??
Tu goenkar nhi re baba! ... Tu kitem ulai naka ..
@@Dr_Analise what's wrong in accepting the atrocities on your ancestors? Of course there was caste system and Hindus come clean with it, it's not like Goans went to Portugal seeking salvation and you won't be excommunicated from the Roman catholic church, because of accepting the truth. Both the groups along with Muslims did wrong. Do you also shy away when you hear cases of numerous priests ra*ing nuns or Killin the indigenous, which is basically a norm? Of course, they gave you a new identity but almost killed your language.
@ Dr. Truth- tv5ch do you know that dongrim village is in tiswadi taluka? An by 1530 entire tiswadi taluka got converted to Roman catholicism an there was not a single person belonging to other faiths in tiswadi taluka for the next almost 200yrs? Now can you tell me in which year this celebration started in dongrim village?
From where you got this Information that there existed Shiva temple in old goa? Are you a gaunkar of old goa?
Proud to be a dongrekar ♥️
This one's lovely Ayush, crisp, to the point and loved the narration. You made it a point to relate everything abstract with culture, happiness, life. This was a very meaningful video.
Amazing as always. 🤗 But I was expecting to see more glimpse of the festival too.
India is really beautiful and diverse.
How old are you Dr. Truth ???

Nice Documentary Bro
It's in Bardez taluka?
No its in tiswadi
It is sad to see Gomantak people to have suffered it for such a long time yet came out as winner. Inquisition is the worst thing ever happened to mankind and to non believers. Even Hitler had some spine and limited attrocitise as compared to Portuguese inquisition. A lot of sad stories of inquisition, lights fire of love and respect for Gomantak people. Your last win and tough one is Susegad - Portuguese inserted this to make people lazy and useless drinking all the time. Please follow Karma, as per Bhagwad Gita, no body can defeat you friends. Need to promote Gomantak more for temples, culture and rituals rather than Sun, Sand and susegad.
U should come to Ponda/Fonnyea, Mulgao, Shirgao etc to see Native Goan Hindu culture
It was under Maratha and Sultanate with minimal interference from Portuguese and came under Portuguese Goa only in late 1880s after temple protection treaty between Marathas and Portuguese
But u north indian tourists only like land of drugs and daaru even yesterday one Northie asked me if I could speak Portuguese 🤦🏻♀️
@@snaik9141 True. Because there are abrahmic and jihadi conspiracy to divide us as north, east ,west ,south etc. This is taught in missionary schools, so that we hate or make fun of our own people. Goa is promoted as place for sun, sand, beaches and churches only, it's a big conspiracy to cover the gomantaks culture and atrocities on them. Someday some where the truth will erupt .Susegad was a Portuguese abrahmic propaganda to make the people lazy and addicted to wine against the Hindus strong belief in Karma. That's why it's not a Goamantak language word.
@@AmSha-cb2pn
Goan Hindus don't drink atleast I was taught that it's not in our dharm bcoz once u drink u get addicted to it and become Bebdad(Bewada) but I can assure u that Goan Christians only drink for Weddings Special occasions etc that too in limited quantities
@@AmSha-cb2pn it's actually u guys who drink north Indian tourists only drink drink and drink I was surprised when they drink so openly and think that it's cool to do so
You can fool the dumb goans, not Christians that stand on the living word of God , the Lord Jesus Christ, creator of the heavens and the earth, by your earthly traditions. Unity in diversity, in love, mercy, forgiveness, faithfulness, righteousness, peace, justice, humility and endurance is God’s kingdom.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Bro😂 Portuguese fooled you already 🤡. when your ancestor (coword) get converted to christian in the name of fake virgin jew lady and son of god who doesn't even exist in history.
Boring
