Im currently reading Outlander. Were going to Scotland in May, and Id like to get through the first 3 books! Id also really like to get to Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier this October, whether thats reading it audiobook is yet to be determined!
I was a teenage slasher sounds intriguing. I will be diving into An academy for liars next week for the book club. I still need to get to Wisteria book 3 of Belladonna (hopefully next month). I hope you enjoy The book eaters.
Reading An Academy For Liars in October for one of my local book clubs too, so this is perfect. How To Become The Dark Lord… is indeed a ton of self aware fun.
I have finished all the physical books I own, other than 2 preorders I acquired recently, so other than some preorders that come out in October, my focus now is knocking out my Kindle TBR. The physical preorders that come out in Oct are: You Can Have My Back vol 3, Stars of Chaos vol 4, and Peerless vol 1. My other 2 physical reads will be Ballad of Sword & Wine vol 2, Bringer of Dust (carryover from Sept). Other than that, I hope to finish Religion in Daily Life in Japan, and read SOS Hotel: Luxery to Die For, and at least start the Soulbound series.
Congratulations! I have so many books on my physical TBR, but part of it is because I thrift books I want to get to, so I have to get them whenever they pop up.
@@maria5988 lol thanks, it took me a while, as I acquired books faster than I could read them, but I finally learned to restrain myself, other than preorders that I wanted. Once I finish my Kindle TBR I plan on doing a decent book haul.
The Book Eaters was iffy. The MC says outright that people who aren’t mothers will never know true love, which is a choice and makes me hate her. It also leans on the Romanian origins of the Dracula myth but centers it on Christianity and not Judaism, which is another choice.
I'm currently reading The Book Eaters and really enjoying it because it is very creative - but you make a good point. I haven't gotten to that part yet where the MC says that - but even as a mother, I would pick up on that. That bothers me a little, too, because of how that may be taken by people who choose not to be a mother/cannot be a mother. I will reserve judgement on the book as a whole for when I am finished, but I can 100% understand why that would bother a reader. Hoping that is the character's opinion and not necessarily the author's.
I loved Belladonna and Weyward! Weyward just came out at the beginning of this year I think so I’m impressed that you’ve had it on your shelf for years 😂😂 Hope your October reading goes great!! I’m hoping to read The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, Warbreaker, One Dark Window, Vampires of El Norte, and Beartown!
I, too, really enjoyed The Book that Wouldn't Burn and I've been waiting to read the second book until we're closer to the third book coming out, and hoping I can get a copy from interlibrary loan once it drops off the libraries new book status.
Darker By Four by June C.L. Tan (author of Jade Fire Gold, which you put on your radar for 2021 releases) is such a perfect fall book!!! it has elements of the chinese underworld and magic related to death which is just so fitting for spooky season hahahaha. it was released in April and it was so so GOOD!!! loved it so much (especially our main characters)
I loved Belladonna! It has an amazing audiobook narrator too. Unfortunately, Weyward didn't do it for me at all, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts on both!
I just started the ninth rain by Jen Williams. And I am finishing close to death by Anthony Horowitz. I read the year on the witching this summer. I picked it up after I heard you talk about it and it reminder me of a book I read and loved called slewfoot by Brom. So if ever you want to add a fall read add this one. It has the same vibe as the year of the witching.
love this tbr!!! 🥰 i’d love to try your book club (never been in one) but my copy of ‘an academy for liars’ is tied to a subscription box and i have no idea when it will arrive 🤷🏼♀️ another month, then. i’ve started ‘how to become the dark lord..’ yesterday. about 15% in. it’s hilarious! it does, however, come with lots of cursing, brutal smashing, and sexual content. and i’ve also recently tried a bit of the audiobook of ‘i was a teenage slasher’ and definitely want to read and listen to this one. loving the slight drawl of the narrator! hope you’ll love all your october reads! 👻 🎃 💜
I’m a huge Django Wexler fan. Dark Lord was fun but not my favorite of his books. Please, please, please pick up Ashes of the Sun! It’s so fun w great found family. It starts w a sister and brother who end up on opposite sides. Every book in the trilogy is amazing!
I loved Weyward! One SA scene that was not necessary but otherwise strong. I tried How to Become the Dark Lord and didn't make it far. The way he wrote the main character was...odd. it didn't sit right with me. But I'm interested to hear what you think!
Thanks for the list, I picked some as inspo for myself :) Personally, I did not care all too much for Weyward, the writing is really good and I guess it's meant to portray "female resilience" but after reading I swore to myself not to get seduced by beautiful covers anymore. I have to accept I cannot stomach stories about these issues of abuse.
I need a rundown of a joe abercrombie books and what order to read them because you make them sound so fascinating each time
Start with The Blade Itself, read through that trilogy, then read the 3 standalones before reading the last trilogy :)
Google fantastic fiction

Loved Weyward! Recommended it to my physical therapist and my afternoon book club.
I always enjoy watching monthly TBR videos! Can’t wait to hear your run downs on each one!
Starting Ann Cleeves The Long Call along with The Thirteenth Tale. Super excited to be reading again and I really enjoy your vlogs.
absolutely LOVED weyward, so many nuances and moments that brought tears to my eyes

I think you are who I want to be when I grow up (I'm 27 😂) but for real reading every book I own is my literal dream!!!
@@TalkAsSoftAsChalk lol it took me a while lol.

Wow! I’m impressed! I will never accomplish this! Congratulations 🎉😊
I absolutely loved Belladonna! I read it last month and adored it, I’m excited to read foxglove soon
I’m currently reading We Came to Welcome you by Vincent Tirado and the book of phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor for the spooky season
The Five Penalties sounds amazing. Just added it to my October List!

I finished The Ninth Rain yesterday after seeing that you’d read it - it was so good! Really pulled me in and the characters were so engaging 😍

I loved Weyward , this book is one of my new favorites along with The Unmaking of June Farrow.
Good luck with your reading this month!!!

I do really want to read the new Alexis Henderson book, it sounds very good. A bit like Vita Nostra
You really must read Our Share of Night (Marina Enriquez) if you haven’t already. It will stay with you long after you’ve finished it.
I plan to soon!
I loved Belladonna! It has an amazing audiobook narrator too. Unfortunately, Weyward didn't do it for me at all, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts on both!
The Bitter Twins was my favorite of the 3! Hopefully you love it! My priority read for October is The Dollmakers by Lynn Buchanan!
Just finished The Book that Broke the World and loved it!
I hope your business trip went well. Love your vids

Francis Hardinge is a fabulous fall read especially with the Lie Tree and Cuckoo Song. Please look her up.

Thank you for your correct pronunciation of Edinburgh😂🎉
Wait The Book Eaters sounds so good, let me find it ASAP
Enjoy your October reading... 👻
I wanted to say: Didn't you already read The Book Eaters? 🤣

Just so you know I believe Belladonna is pronounced Daa-nuh, not Done-uh. Don as in DONald Duck.
Came here to say this too lol
I'll be curious to hear your review of belladonna because I did not care for that one at all lol
