Most of my steam engines are IHC Premier series Camelback and Conslidation types and i have some older Rivorossi steamers (Mallets and various others). My IHC's are super quiet and run incredibly smooth. My riv locomotives are also quiet as heck and i love em. Now my loudest locomotive is my MDC 3-truck Shay....so grindy, lol.
The weird coupler behind the tender was originally an AHM product marketed as a hybrid coupler that could work with knuckle and horn-hook couplers. I tried it with horn-hook couplers and it worked well for what it is. I no longer use horn-hooks so the hybrid coupler has lost its appeal.
Hi I’m a beginner and could use your help. I bought a HO Bachmann Spectrum Western Maryland 2-8-0 Consolidation # 763 . I’m not sure what transformer to use and also how to get the sound to work. Please any help ? Thanks Dave
Is your locomotive dcc with sound? My power packs are MRC tec 6. You can run dc or dcc with it. I purchased mine from modeltrainstuff.com. To turn on the sound is typically command #8 on the power pack, #0 is lights, #1 is bell, #2 whistle. I hope this helps some!
The Mehano Mogul, Atlantic and Consolidation all use the same drive. Some of the most reliable RTR under $100 locomotives ever offered. Good cast on and applied detail too. They were about $50 in the 90s when IHC offered them. The later light USRA Pacific after they upgraded the details is an excellent choice for B&O thru traffic on your layout. I had a Mogul stored in an hot attic unrun for over a decade. Cleaned the wheels, dropped some oil on the drivetrain....didn't even open the shell. Runs well like magic. Rivorassi and Mantuas with Pitman motors need a breakdown, lube and rebuild if sitting idle for just a couple years.
Cool layout

I have an ihc 2-8-0 consolidation very similar to this but the Boston and Maine version.
Watched your ho scale model trains #6. Got to see your loco in that. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine!

@@themillrunandwesternmaryland11 thanks
IHC never built anything, they were an importer of mostly Rivarossi.
Wow, don't I feel dumb! I did some research after I read your comment and see what you mean. Thanks for sharing! :)
