I still to this day randomly say Mahogany and laugh to myself. Anyone even mentions Mahogany I think of this and laugh. Do not underestimate how brilliant that was.
And not just any mahogany, but mahogany from the planet Malchior VII, where the trees are 300 feet tall, and breathe FIRE!

You all and Taka have every right to be proud of Nappa. Him and Nail sticking around in Piccolo's head are probably my favorite things you changed from DBZ.
It really helps sell the feeling of it being a forbidden technique, absorbing other Namekians. Because he keeps talking to himself, and making other people frightened/uncomfortable/confused, it's great

No, it was orange. I can see why you might get confused, but they're distinct colors. Gold is the color of gold, while orange is the color of oranges.

@@nateh9764 How are you reaching that conclusion? They're pointing out their own errors and giving us background info on how they decided to put the parody show together. How/When are you feeling mocked and alienated by them?

That first Yamaha death absolutely ruined me as a teenager. I had a anxiety attack because I couldn’t breathe from how hard I was laughing. The quick edit before his scream just cut to my core. You guys are awesome. Made my favorite show as a kid into something more. Thank you.

I think one of the more underrated lines is during Tien's speech, Nappa goes "yeah that chaotzu" as if they were friends

My favorite underappreciated part of the commentary tracks is how the editing over Kaiser and Lani reflect the abridge's editing

That joke would’ve probably landed extra hard if Nappa had punched Gohan after saying it - instead he went after Tien.

Man, I was 13 when I saw DBZ Abridged for the first time during summer break of '09. It's surreal to see just how far you guys have come since then.
I grew up with DBZA :) thank you for taking over of my favorite shows, making it a million times better, and bringing it back for nostalgia commentary.
I literally tell people “no wait, it gets better” when showing them the first episode XD
I usually start them at the season 1 finale or Freiza saga if they have no patience.

I was introduced to this series watching the season 1 finale and I got hooked. Tried getting my friends into it by starting them from the beginning; it really turned them off to the series even though I told it only gets better. Should have started them on the Frezia saga.
@@theq86 Honestly, starting on Frieza Saga is appropriate: I came into DBZ somewhere on Namek, and I'd imagine plenty of folks did, too. There's always Season 1 Kai to get 'em up to speed otherwise.
In 15 years from now we'll get a DBZA Creator Commentary Commentary
Just finished my annual rewatch of everything and it will always hold up as my favorite rehash of anything ever. Love you crew!
DBZA made my childhood and Ive watched it about 2x every year just to support them, wish they will come back
In all honesty. Y'all did an amazing job with these series. To this day I say DBZA is better than the original DBZ. All the filler taken out, adult jokes, clever references, clever script writing, the character development, the voices are done really well, and everything else. This was a masterpiece. Also Hellsing abridged, and attack on Titan abridged were equally well done. I really mean this. Well done fellas.
4:11 There are abilities that can change the type of normal type moves (pixilate, refrigerate, maybe others, I'm not sure), so headbutt actually CAN be super effective.

At the time that video was created/uploaded, it could not. But it really just makes it funnier in hindsight.
Imagine if they made it Head Smash, implying that Raditz is Ice-type.

The bit where they "interact" with Piccolo is the first abridged footage in nearly three years. Still adore the series and the commentaries.
The crab falling is my favorite joke of the entire series, and I'm so sorry.
I loved in episode one, they cut the random crab falling off a tree cut scene to a point that actually made sense.

It's so hard for me to get past the first 10 seconds, hits so hard and is so funny, after being a fan since the beginning and hearing Nick say that kaisers reaction was the perfect response, still can't wait for the future of your guys' channel
Yeah, season 1 was ROUGH.
They said before, while the show was still going, that they'd totally remake it.
BUUUUT after having this account be slammed with copyright flags multiple times; they decided it against it. That's also half the reason why the show ended to begin with, aside from burnout and the Buu Saga sucking.
I still remember first being introduced to the series by a friend through 4th and 5th grade in 2011/2012
Not even sure if the cell saga had began yet, i just remember the first time that i finally found the channel and decided it o subscribe around the first few weeks of middle school was when j was there for the first time a new episode dropped
Forgot the episode but it was around the time 17, and 18 were chilling on the mountain side
My dad was already on my case for not doing well in school on my first weeks in, my sister scolding me for watching abridged instead of studying, and i was just feeling confused and alone due to middle school not being ehat I thought it’d be and most of my friends being in a separate school than me
Watching abridged back then completely new for the first times was one of those anchors that reminded me of a constant that was once in my life, and of the passing of time on how things move on.
It makes it all the more wild that the series later ended when i was in about 11th grade right around the time of my birthday.
I’m 21 now, but its wild to sit back and remember how long of a journey this all was for not just me, but EVERYONE involved in the watching AND making of this amazing series

I was in Jr. High, or Middle School I guess, when I got into DBZA. It’s what got me into DBZ, I missed everything growing up for some reason, but from 8th grade all ‘til the end of the series, I was die hard and even to this day, repeat lines from this series. I can proudly say now “I am an adult”.

It’s amazing to see how they’ve grown, like Lani doing picallo’s voice now compared to then and you can hear the evolution, same with Popo.
Man I couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve rewatched the abridged series, far more than the actual show/manga and I do love that but dbza has a special place in my heart.
I am glad Lani made the comment about the reaction videos though because I was wondering why I was seeing “old reactions” to like episode one and wasn’t till I saw I couple I noticed they were brand new. Hope this renewed interest maybe brings the guys back into the fold for the buu saga, I know they could do it!

Thank you guy's. I have quoted you daily for years now. My lady actually watched abridged before the series and is now a DBZ fan. Someone that never would have watched the actual show love's it now, I thank you guy's with all my heart!
Discovered DBZA in 2017 by a roommate with shared interests. She used the "Best of" character compilations. Been a DBZ fan since 99, so I immediately understood what you guys were doing, and was all about it. Early season awkwardness is to be expected, I had already seen that it would get better.

Wether you laugh or cringe at this, this show is a milestone in its own right! Taking the masterpiece that is Dragonball, Z, Super etc. and remaking it to its own identity is in many ways a nod to the old and intro to the new. This has given me so many laughs - even when I didn’t want to - and has inspired MANY other abridged series of anime and it wouldn’t be here without you!! So thank you Team Four Star for everything you given, it’s great to see you again!

I was in 6th grade when I first found you guys. There were like maybe 4 episodes out at that time .... I've been finished with college for about 3 years now. Time really flies

I’m watching the commentary with them live, but I still get the urge to rewatch the series ever time. Such fond memories, such a fun series! And its great learning even more BTS about the production that despite after all this time offers so much info
I rewatch all of DBZA once or twice a year and still love it. Toriyama writes fan fiction as far as I'm concerned. You guys are the true canon.

Was always wondering what the fuss was about. DBZA didn't disappoint. The whole series except episode 60 were released, so no waiting. Pure awesomeness
I didn’t start watching TFS until like 2012-2013 when I started middle school but I was born in october 2000. I started watching right when they released the Vegeta vs Android 19 episode (47??) but I’ve been watching and loving it all since then XD

I got a Siberian husky in January and couldn’t think of a name before getting him. Spitballing ideas with my friend I had the stroke of genius to name him Nappa, because I knew he would be a hassle and constantly be getting into things he shouldn’t, and i would constantly be saying “Goddamit Nappa” 4 months later and the name is perfect. Thank you for indirectly naming my dog

It is FASCINATING to watch you guys cringe at your old work (totally valid btw) bc so much of DBZA is regularly quoted in my household. The passion was there, even in the rough early episodes. It just needed some time to blossom, and you guys delivered.

I'm going to have to contradict you, because Headbutt CAN be super-effective.
There are a few abilities and attacks that can alter the typing of Normal-type moves.
The ability 'Refrigerate' makes them Ice-type, the ability 'Pixilate' makes them Fairy-type, and the move 'Ion Deluge' makes an opponent's moves become Electric-type, just to name a few.
season 1 jokes really stuck around. my friends and I were there when season 1 debuted and we still use the jokes ALL THE TIME.
Mahogany, NEEEEERD, DODGE, "I'll tell you where they're not.....SAFE", "your'e going back.....BYEEEE", SHUT UP BOJACK, all manner of Nappa lines, etc etc etc. We have all seen these episodes so many times we have entire scenes committed to memory. You guys really were funny as hell, still are.
