  • Jerry Dipoto, Justin Hollander and Scott Servais all have expiring contracts at the end of 2024. Why have they not been extended yet? How big of an issue is this? We debate.

They probably didn’t get this extension done because the team is playing how the team is currently playing

After jerrys 54% comment, he does deserve some retribution because it's something that M's fans won't let rest, and i just hope that they'll let it rest when we do bettwr than 54%

If the ownership group genuinely thinks someone can do better than Jerry in the situation they're forcing on the Mariners front office, they are delusional to levels I did not think possible. Please remember the Mariners are the most profitable team in the league and Dipoto has something to do with that.

Jerry led the M's out of the darkness that were the Jack Z and Bill Bavasi regimes, and he mostly pulled the M's out of that pit of hell by 2019.
If anything, John Stanton needs to sell the team to an owner who actually wants to win. This isn't a Jerry problem, it's a John Stanton problem. He's one of the remaining fixtures from the Jack Z days and he needs to be gone yesterday.

I would think most of the fan base would realize that without Jerry there wouldn’t be a top farm system. Would not be an elite draft and development group. Most MLB GMs lean on this farm system and prospects from Jerry’s farm during the offseason. At the end of the day the ultimate goal is to go after a World Series but in order to do that you have to be in contention. Jerry and his staff has made that a reality as of late . Would be a poor decision for Stanton and his shareholder group to recourse and believe they would recreate that with a different front office regime. It’s best ownership write the check. Make it out to ‘Jer’. Then on the bottom half make it for the 54% club. Sign it and get the heck out of Mr Chills way.

People don't care to understand the roles in the front office. They associate the team not spending to be Jerry Dipoto's fault. They don't understand the office politics that go on. In short, it's casuals that aren't very into baseball that blame Jerry.

Look at teams that have great farm systems…most are teams that have been horrible for many years. Baltimore is a perfect example. Difference is Baltimore has turned the farm system into a MLB contender.

Agree drafts have been very good and young pitching development has been excellent. Trades have been disastrous. Dipoto should be let go if this offseason trades turn out to be as poor as I think they will.

Which trades do you think will end poorly? The only trade that is a little questionable is the Haniger trade, but even then they shed a ton of payroll for the next few years

Kelenic….although that wasn’t really a trade as the Mariners got nothing in return

@@craigmartin1727 it was another salary dump that let them do all the great moves that followed, in a vacuum it sucks but that move is what gave them the breathing room to get Polanco, raley, etc

We challenge you to suggest who would be a better fit that could make this team significantly better with ownership's payroll restraints (which aren't changing no matter who the GM/President of Baseball Ops is)
