We traded away BOTH our left handed starters in the last month (which I'm ok with). I doubt we'll do it, but we need to make a run at Snell now. He's a Seattle Native who just happens to be a lefty starter. It's a perfect fit.
6:50 No ones gonna comment on the clip of Raley taking George Kirby deep at home? Made me realize Raley is a pretty solid bat if he flipped a biscuit in the butter basket off Kirby AT Tmobile
I am still mad at ownership as daddy Stanton is making it VERY hard for Dipoto to do his job. However I'm very impressed with what we've done in the last few weeks with Garver, Haniger and Raley. Now without a lefty in the rotation and Snell wants to be in Seattle it's time to bring Snell home!!!!! I think I'd give the off-season a solid B grade if we go out and get Snell
I'll believe this front office is redeeming there self when they actually start making moves that are actually going to help this team win and be willing to spend the money it will take to do that none of theses moves have me convinced that we are any better than what we where last year still pretenders trying to be contenders
@@golfmaniac007 Gotta score runs to win. Whether you ground out, fly out, line out, or strike out, its an out. But runs scored and batted in wins games.
This trade looks great in January and welcome back Mitch. But we got a DH and a right fielder with major health issues. Plus our starting 3rd baseman is coming off injury. It will be a miracle if they stay healthy and we finish the season with them. This could go down as a disaster but time will tell
So just over a year ago the Mariners front office wouldn't/didn't re-sign Haniger because we were told as he would be too expensive for an injury prone 31 year old free agent. Now the front office re-signs an injury prone 33 yr old Haniger with his new free agent contract. Now I love Haniger and welcome him back back but I just shake my head at some of the decisions from the yo-yo's in the M's front office/ownership.
"Now it's just finding the way that you can get better. Is it a fun addition in the bullpen? Is it an upgrade somewhere on the field that we don't really have? Sometimes things just appear and you didn't anticipate that it was possible until it shows up. And we're open to that happening, but I don't feel like we have to do anything. If we do something, it's because we wanted to get like one or two more guys.” If Jerry really thinks this team is set as is, we’re fucked…
It’s a solid move. I have heard others say we would have won the division with Ray. I agree; however if we trade a starting or a good depth pitcher we would have been in worse shape this year if Ray did not come back as soon as expected or was less effective.
Last year with a healthy Robbie Ray giving the team 30 starts I 100% agree the Mariners would have won the division. Ray coming back to form is a huge question mark that the Giants are willing to take the risk on
Prediction: mariners offseason is done. Just a few scrub FA pick ups like last year to say we spent money. Only hope is players stay healthy (miracle) or this is a 500 win team
I do think the team overall is worse I feel like our pitching bare minimum has to be top 3 in mlb for us to be a playoff time given the offense on paper is going to be very poor hopefully it can be league average but we will see
Yoshida and Story to Mariners for Desclafani, France, and Crawford. Then, Yoshida to Padres for Kim. Then, Castillo to Angels for prospects (Moniac, Neto, Schanuel). Then, Mariners sign Snell.
Yes these are smart trades, but the additions they've made still fall short of overcoming the subtractions they've gotten rid of. Still need 2 bats to be improved over last year's lineup
I actually like the trades. We get Mitch back and long relief in DeSclafuckit. We get rid of Robbie who is great on paper and that is it. We robbed the Rays on Raley with Jose but hes going to flourish playing in ALE East parks. Would have liked us to try for B Crawford from SF.
Love these two trades in a vacuum. But would've rather they kept Geno instead, and re signed Tom Murphy for 4M/season and I think our team would be all set. We'll see what they do with the remaining cash tho
3rd was 1 game from a playoff spot last year. If the Angels somehow pull their head out of their ass good for them but 3rd in this division is the floor for this team in our opinion
@MarinerMojoOfficial alot of good talent left. The Angels unlike the Mariners aren't afraid to spend. They could snag some pieces and be right there with Seattle.
As it stands right now Rojas is the starting 2nd basemen and Urias is the starting 3rd basemen. Would not be surprised if the rest of the offseason is dedicated to upgrading either spot to put those two together into a platoon
@@MarinerMojoOfficialI am really uninterested in platoons. I can't think of one platoon M's have used that has been successful. They've tried at DH, Of, and 2nd and all have turned out horrible. Kelenic and Pollack seem to be the best one, and that's because kelenic just took the job and was ok.

Would have been smarter to let Ray come back. If he shows good things then he would have had way more value. We got a bag of chips for him. Haniger, love him by the way, will most likely not provide much and we got a long reliever who can spot start.

Yea the Mitch being a full time outfielder is confusing given his injury concern. A 2021-esque season would absolutely be the "1" in that equation but it is a big if. For Raley and Canzone, agreed. Unless this is a precurson to Ty being gone and Raley is actually our 1B. A decent amount of time left before spring training for everything to sort itself out
Dipoto is done. This is a precursor to nothing. I wish it was, but I think you said in another comment, that they're done unless something falls in their lap. Personally, I see them doing one year flyers on bargain bin bounce back players like usual. Off-season done 😢
What a joke. We're not better than last year so not good. Are we better than the Rangers... NO... Are we better than the Astros... No. So what are you talking about? We will lead the league in injuries and strikeouts.
I don't know how you can call this a smart trade! Now I love Hanniger. But when was he ever healthy? He is consistently injury prone and very fragile that I'd rather gamble on Robie Ray having a great comeback year!!!
I'm glad that Haniger is back but we have to recognize that this is just another salary dump. Sure, the money in 2024 is even, but we shed $50 million from the 2025-2026 payrolls. We did not need to trade Roobie Ray.
Most certainly didn't need to but banking on Robbie to return in August and be a $23 million dollar pitcher is a big what if. Same with Mitch and same with DeSclafani. I think at the end of it the Mariners will come away with the better side of this deal but it wasn't a necessity this offseason by any means. The FA classes those years are honestly a lot better than this one and by retaining the young pitching staff it could set us up well then and allows the Mariners to have raised the floor of this team without spending a dime

Especially if we can get him on a hometown discount. Like 5 yr, 75M would be fantastic for us.
Id rather get an impact bat but the options are limited
Not happening fellas.
This is our team unless something falls in our lap.
I think a discount for an ace pitcher is more like 120 for 4 years, 75 for 5 would be ridiculously low!
