In this VOD review I'll be focusing on the role of an initiator in general, and focusing more in on Sova and how he differs from some of the other initiators. One of the most important things to remember is that Sova has a more passive playstyle in general due to the range of his abilities and how they are used. This often leads to Sova players feeling like they are not having an impact in their games. The truth is that they most likely are out of position. In this VOD we're going to be talking a lot about poor positioning, map awareness, teamwork, ability usage, and much more. I think this VOD can help anyone learn, enjoy!

Its really hard to have impact in your games when you are never getting involved in fights. If you feel like thats you, then I think you can learn a lot from this video! Remember to leave a LIKE, comment what type of VOD you want to see next, and SUBSCRIBE for more! Coaching videos coming soon! Enjoy!
This guy plays like sentinel. Covering flanks, eventual lurk, prefer information and ability usage over gunfight...
Drop the sova and enter de SenTrain
that’s what I was thinking too! Whole point of an initiator by DEFINITION is to start up the action and give your teammates an opportunity. Also sucks that it looks like they didn’t have the best team coord, I feel like Sova really shines when his team is able to follow up on his drone/recons.
I really love watching your VOD Review, even though it's a lower rank or not the role I'm playing, because I always learn things! You have such good analysis and you're never toxic at all, and the comments you make really helps to improve ! Thank you for posting so often lately, I really like this content ! Keep it up !
Glad you enjoy it!
These vod reviews scare me so often because I hear the knife swinging noise (I assume you're fiddling around in the range while recording the audio) and I keep thinking our vod submitter is getting snuck up on 🤣 Valorant PTSD at its finest
Round 2: drones and clears c, tags raze and forces him to fall back to CT - entire team goes…garage? 😢😳
13:35
hiko was not hurt during the comment.
Gosh, this one is quite hard to watch. On attack, he is definitely not playing an INITIATOR role. He rarely initiate any play to the site with his team. Probably because he was tilted at the first few rounds when none of his teammates following his drone?
19:46 LMAO
Last three rounds, all match point, held onto ult in some clear situations where he could have used it to help teammates win fights or ult the planter. Just cause you aren't guaranteed to get a kill with it doesn't mean you can't use it to assist others
nice video man! keep it up
Hey Dragonmar I have a question. I had always thought that in a disadvantaged situation (here a 2v3), especially when you’re being challenged by the larger group, it was a bad idea to plant because it is essentially a 1v3 while you’re planting. I even heard a different high Elo coach guy recommend holding off the plant until you have man advantage. Is this wrong? Your videos are great btw
Its entirely situational, and no two situations are ever the same. If you can plant safely, and your teammate is able to live without giving up any substantial ground or map control then I see no reason to not plant. If you try to force fights, if the enemy plays passive enough you will never get an advantage, especially if they trade. Planting puts a timer on the round, and now forces the defenders hand and thats why its important. If there is a lot of time left in the round though, you may prefer to wait for a mistake. As you can see, I could go on and on forever but the answer is that it just depends on the situation.
@@Dragonmar I understand what you mean and that makes a ton of sense. Thanks man
It depends, if u know that none of the enemies are near then why not plant? u'll get time advantage
Well since the only place the enemies could attack you from, was garage, means that you can pretty much plant backsite for free since ct is walled, after you plant this forces enemies to rush in due to time and you just play spike
[1-5 Round 7] 7:59 Dragonmar my boy, it's called a fake. They set a viper wall up on C and had defaulted towards mid. The dart spotted Raze, traded for a nade and boomba, skye dog spotted on C, and Reyna in mid was spotted fighting Jett garage all while they had 2 lurking up A. 3 towards C side meaning one's probably B and one's probably A (best case scenario is none on A). Raze gets traded by Viper, Sage picks up the bomb and runs, and now it's a 4v4 retake with little to no util used.
You're right, it does look like they are attempting a fake. While I focus on Sova, remember that he brings the bomb to C long which is what throws me off. Not sure why you'd fake a site and keep bomb over there. Reyna is alt mid, Sage runs back to grab spike and this leaves a 3-2 map split, with the 2 taking A. Very poor split, and you're right I missed that play because the execution was so poor
Been playing a little sova lately he is great! Thanks for the tips!
Nice video :)
He should be on a different agent if he's lurking that much.
it looks like it's another case of low confidence. relying too much on the team to play like radiants because he clearly watches AJ. Golds aren't gonna just know to play around lineups. And our protagonist here isn't confident in their aim so they rely on abilities.
My biggest issue playing sova and using his drone is i always, always, always get pushed from flank and die, even when i specifically ask for my team to watch flank as i drone (1 person obvs) and without fail every god damn time they get impatient and drop watching the flank just right before my drone ends, enemy flank push, then they kill the person watching flank in the back because they turned the fuck away from the angle..........., then me... I can. not. count how many times this exact scenario has happened.
If you reveal where you are and Then drone, the enemy team might be getting a head start on their rotations.
Seems like you may be using drone a bit late in rounds. If you are getting flanked, the enemy has significant map control, this may just be a case of you holding onto drone a bit too long in games. Now, late round drones are great but like you pointed out, not if you are dying
@@Dragonmar I gotcha, appreciate the tip for sure
Great video, is there a chance to send my omen VOD to have it reviewed some time? Any link or smth?
I believe you submit them thru his discord

Lol i played with this sova a while back
did someone pay attention of the trash viper walls
why are G2's aiming better than me and my teammates at D2 lol
because D2 is just better teamwork that's about it. Most people don't train their aim past a certain point.
Most non impactful initiator player I've seen so far. He plays like lurking sentinel. Also he needs to stop baiting whole team.
