I love this song...I loved it when I heard it with tarja in once, but now that I've listened to it sung by anette i think that THIS i singing with the heart. In this song anette makes me cry, tarja was a wonderful singer but she was a bit too a techical singer... Anette put her heart in singin this song. Simply amazing. (I'm sorry for my bad english^^)
I find it amazing that 2 different videos of the same song can get so different comments... This one has almost perfect sound... The other one hasn't even got hardly any sound at all... This one has almost only got comments regarding how good she is actually singing this song... On the other one they say: OMG she can't sing and all those things... I just find it amazing...
I,too, agree with the comments. This version is better than the other one sung by Tarja. I guess this proved the ones that still thought Anette wasn't suited for Nightwish that she CAN sing, and when she does, she does it wonderfully. I liked Tarja better as well for Nightwish, but that doesn't make hate or dislike Anette. I understand that some changes are irreversible, so I can move on. Great performance, can't want to see them in Romania this year (at least it's rumored they'll come)
I know that she does.. This video proves it... But I think that alot of the fans that can't let go of the old NW needs to hear a recorded version of this song or a professionally filmed version of the whole concert..

Yes she actually have. Marcs sister and mom went out shopping with Anette when Nightwish last played in San Diego. Bruelands were also at the sight while shootin´the"Bye bye beautiful" video.
Floor only sung it once and it was only 6 days after she joined NW in the hurry we all know, so it's kinda difficult to judge on her part. Though, Anette totally delivers on this one. Positively and definitely surprised...
It's crazy that they played this great and honorable song live with Anette instead of Tarja who is the original voice. Whereas, other songs with Anette's original voice were never played live with her, such as the great songs Turn Loose the Mermaids and For the Heart I Once Had.
This is your own personal opinion. For the Heart I Once Had and Turn Loose the Mermaids are great songs and underrated!!!! Because Higher than Hope meas a lot for the band, as you say, if means, that's why should have played it live with Tarja before.

Ah, that's it.. I knew there was a term for it but couldn't place it.. My teacher taught me that term when I was learning a jazz piece long ago that's why i related it to jazz as an example..though like u said,other kinds of music use it as well..thanks!
@cibelka101 I started listening to NW with Tarja.Anette was a shock in the beginning yes,because she was so different.But like I said, it's not like Tarja was so great until I cry and wish for her to come back.For those who do, why the hell don't they just go and buy her album and go to her concerts,rather than spewing Tarja-worshipping comments all over the place.I would imagine Tarja wouldn't be very happy being 'pestered' to return to NW either since she's happy going solo a few years now!

I think Anette has brought the band down to an average, normal metal band. It was Tarja's voice that really made the band an extraordinary one.
