- Concert in San Diego. Octobert 6th 2012. Audio distorts with the drums. I was too close to the stage. Floor sounds 500% better live than in these YT vids. This will be up until someone uploads a clearer vid.
Wow, I just realized that she performed this song so admirably while all the time reading the lyrics taped to front monitors !
Because this song is only performed when a Brueland family member is in the audience, she obviously had no time to learn the lyrics, yet she managed everything like a true pro.

She has a hypnotic presence. I really hope they release all the different live songs one day in official form (the ones they don't play in concert disc setlists). The camera mic distorted with the drum amps so I want to really hear a clean version one day.

@@Delibro 2012, It was a 720p Canon Camera, everything was going well until the drums and amps hit. They were too much for the little mic.

Her persona is quality as well
Man with her talent it would be so easy to sing this and reach the high notes with her operatic voice but instead she's using her chest voice. That's extremely hard to do. Pure power. Shows how talented she really is...
IMO this is combination of the best features of the two previous singers. Perfection.

I don't think anyone who has seen her perform live can complain. If I had the resources I would follow them all over. This was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

+Will Balogh Yes, I keep telling people there is a difference between AOR bands and pop. Nettie was also faster, Storytime is one of the more difficult songs, even people who cover it on RUclips slow it down or sing it on a different register. Floor sang it similar to Anette at first then decided to do her own take by the end of the tour.
Too bad about the audio because this is a lovely clear visual.
haleskiss I was severely dissapointed when I played it back after the show and as soon as the drums hit, the cam mic filter couldn't handle the amplifiers and distortion came out. I believe someone else had this song from Marco's side, with less noise.
mofrakker hey appreciate the attempt, technology loves to mess up the good stuff, but found one that had clean audio, felt a little bad for you, that had to have been danged disappointing. But at least you were there, cheers!
haleskiss There is a 'clean' version of this (less distortion) and the Marco version one that has no distortion. You can probably edit them.

I love Nightwish so much and Floor has always been my favorite female singer. I used to imagine how it would sound with her voice... And now, a dream came true!
She has such a power in her voice and such a presence! She really enjoy being in the stage and have fun with the guys!

Tuomas has evolved as a songwriter. When Tarja left I think they took advantage of not having to do the same type of songs. Dark Passion Play showed Anette's versatility. Imaginaerum is a full on concept album. Very ambitious. It was a risky move, the easiest thing would've been to get another opera singer, but I must say, musically they have done well so far. :)

I am amazed by her beauty. She is not only absolutely stunning physically, but she has an incredible soul to sing as she does.
I was in a local Chicago band that was lucky enough to play with After Forever when they were support for Overkill and got to meet Floor and talk to her for a few minutes. She's honestly the nicest person you could imagine. So down to earth.
This song sounds amazing live. It's very difficult to capture Floor's emotion and the way her voice resonates on the building's acoustics. Plus. that bass drum made my mic cam distort. If Nightwish comes your way with Floor. Don't hesitate.
I just discovered After Forever 3 years ago and Floor jumped to #1 of favorite vocalists, Nightwish is my favorite band, so this was so surreal to experience.
Nightcrawl6 , I heard Tarja live back in 2004 with Nightwish, and as a solo artist in 2012 (in a concert as part of her "What Lies Beneath" Tour), and I must say that She sounded much better in 2012 than in 2004, BUT, both times she sounded amazing... There's no need to tell Lies about Tarja professional work, even if you prefer Floor's style...
Every music lover who cares more about the music than about the stupid fans fights, knows that Tarja was always a great live singer, and a lot of times she sounds even better Live than on the albuns... And of course Floor is an amazing singer too (I follow her work since After Forever days...), plus it seems they are both long time friends.
Nightwish's strength has been to make the best use of the talent it has. Tarja's amazing lyrical style helped shaped their sound. Nettie's theater background and mid range vocals (and speed) allowed them to branch out into other styles. Floor's incredible diversity will allow Tuomas more creative space to write material with the knowledge that either heavy or lyrical it can be interpreted properly onstage. Metal is such an underdog right now, that fan bickering does very little. The fact that as you say, Floor and Tarja remain friends says a lot about their quality. :)
Tarja has no problem with anyone in the band, except Tuomas and Evo (the manager) and Jukka, but Emppu, Marko and FLoor are okay with her.
Because the masterminds of the open letter were Tuomas, who may be a great composer, but a detestable man, and Evo is anyway almost universally hated by even die-hard fans, as he is known for flirting with and wanting all girl fans, and Jukka also loved money immensely, and was greedy.
@@mofrakkerHer versatility allows Toumas to be more creative and explore more options? The last three albums all sound the same. I’m including their new one that hasn’t came out yet. It’s not about the singer, it’s about the songwriter and composer. Tarja, nor Annette, held Toumas back in any way.
If I had the time and money, I would see them like 15 times before Floor leaves. Your gonna love the show!

Tuomas said in an interview in Sweden Rock Magazine that he encourage the other member to write music for the band. But, he want´s to write the lyrics by himself.

Absolutely. The resonance in her voice. Shifting between clean singing and belting. Most people who complain haven't seen her live. I was disappointed at the sound quality of the recordings I got. There are a few decent sounding vids of her. But I would love to re-live seeing them onstage again.

I really don't see Nightwish as a band with one singer, more like multiple of them and it's fun to see how much the band has developed with different vocalists, still love them! :D
I agree with you. It depends really on the type of sound some fans prefer. People acustomed to hearing Tarja's lyrical voice will reject whomever they choose to replace. I love all their stuff, and the last two albums have been among their best, and adventurous. Floor has brought her passion and versatility, Nettie had the warmth, the strong timbre for belting and her voice was clear on the faster songs. Tarja was the epic voice that established the band. They all rocked.
HOW I MISSED NIGHTWISH. This was my favorite band, but after Tarja left, they were like dead to me, finally I can feel the spirit that made me fall in love with them before.

Although Tarja is a full soprano and has an extraordinary voice which has identified the Nightwish sound for a decade. Floor is one of the most versatile singers in the industry, she can sing soprano, rock, metal, jazz, can scream and even growl if need be. Has been in 3 bands, numerous collaborations, done vocals for a Final Fantasy video game, all within 13 years prior to joining the Nightwish tour. Certainly not an overnight sensation, but a respected veteran.
She makes me proud of being Dutch!

Yep, this is from an actual show. She was recovering from a cold, so she wasn't a 100%. But still gave an epic performance.
She prolly is, but like you it doesn't matter too me.. The fact she can sing them as good as she does without knowing them yet is simply amazeing.

Anette did her, too - and of course some difficulties singing the songs made for Tarjas voice! - But great on the songs made for her!
Floor is somewhere in between - now they need some new songs made for her voice ;-)
She learned most of the songs on the plane ride, there are about 13 to 14 songs. As I mentioned I don't think she was actually reading lyrics. Lighting does not help. She have to have them really close to make them out. It was her stage movements and vocal style. She looks at the audience, at the family of the dedicated fan, upwards and downwards. :)
Yes, I agree. If anything Floor was feeling the water on the first shows, she did a bit of opera on the classics and held back on the new one's. Now she's simply doing them her own way and doing an excellent job.
people hated it when Anette sang "Tarja"'s songs, now people are hating Floor for doing "Anette" songs...These songs are TUOMAS's songs...they just have a new spin on them...the magic is still there, just give her a chance :)

i really hope that nightwish keeps her permanently. i believe that if given the opportunity, floor would be more than happy to stay. my biggest fear about this situation is that she doesnt become the permanent singer. Floor is doing such a great job that getting a better singer than floor to fill in the shoes will be extremely difficult. at this point, it would be such a heart breaker if floor does not become the permanent.
You know what sucks? I'm from Austria, and Nightwish won't come to Austria next year, and only once to Germany, at Wacken in August 2013. But Wacken is already sold out, so i have pretty much no chance to see them perform live anytime soon...

Yes, I heard that too (although more vaguely). Floor did write it was a very emotional moment. Everyone that night was on Cloud 9! Didn't even mind having to be on my feet since 5pm.
Yes, ReVamp is her main focus. She is accustomed to writing her own lyrics and having a creative input. That would be difficult in Nightwish. Unless she stays in both bands (like Marco). But being lead singer, it's far more demanding. Although NW albums come out every 4 years aprox. Hope they find a way to make it work. She has spoiled us Nightwish fans with her amazing voice.

I agree and pretty much the people who bitch about Floor, haven't even seen her live. She's not a newbie and her career spans 13 years of well earned recognition. So the crowd has been more welcoming towards her. Should the line up continue on the next album, it will be pure AWESOMENESS.
Well, she was in RV after AF broke-up. She has had side projects such as collaborations with different artists. She writes and tours for ReVamp. The logo is on her page, in the Nightwish page she is listed as guest musician and Tuomas has not made any announcements of keeping her as official (though that would be awesome). Any official decisions would be made during 2014, when NW goes back to rehearsals.

It's her style. 2:20 she's extending a note as she's looking down. She does it rythmically, ups and downs on the verses. She also looks from time to time.
I always wanted a fancy mobile camera. Actually this is a lower end Canon Sx-150, has 720p HD with 12x (hence the spiffy video), but unfortunately the stereo mic cannot handle all those db's coming from Jukka's bass drum. As I stated in the description, I was wiling to take the vid down if someone else had a cleaner version and GUESS WHAT?! I don't blame you though, There are only 2 versions of Rest Calm live, and they have horrible sound. More people should film. :(
She is not the permanent singer. Nor is she meant to sound like either like T or A. They urgently needed a replacement and they were damn lucky to get a vocalist as versatile and driven as Floor. The only other option was to cancel the tour in the west. It's not confusing at all to anyone who has actually seen them recently. Live, not on youtube vids that is. :)

Sorry about that, Floor was the closest to me and I must admit being entranced, another fellow youtuber uploaded this from Marco's side (and you can even hear him louder on that position). I did film the rest of the guys, but I hated the sound (even more distorted than here), but there are still lots of decent YT vids of the band out there. Peace.

She sounds much better live. My friend didn't know Floor before the show either, in the end she had tears in her eyes because it was so emotional. Everybody who saw the show that night was not dissapointed.
I can fully understand why many say Tarja was the best. She was in the band since it's conception and there for 9 years. The music was based around her singing style, so it was identified by her beautiful lyrical voice. Since her departure, the band has evolved, which is not necessarily bad. Their sound has rotated between really melodical and the really heavy. In the end Nightwish has always been a hybrid of different elements and always exciting. :)
Agreed. For some reason some people have issues with strong featured women, but I think she looks like a goddess.

Will do! I've missed too many great concerts this year to miss the opportunity to see Nightwish. So far I've missed Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, Flyleaf and Paramore all in the last 6 months :/ I was SO bummed about missing Lacuna Coil, but it was on a schoolnight so I couldn't go :'(
Finally that classical voice again in the band as it should be with this band.

Her tecnique is great. You can see her wide open throat in the high notes. Maybe that's why somebody said she was struggling. The did it really good.
