Notice how the arm scene shows Shanks being in the water, which pretty much confirms he's not a Devil Fruit user at this point. But the LA changed this scene into him sitting inside a boat for some goddamn stupid reason. Which also made Shanks look stupid too. The LA only follows the general narrative loosely but completely throws away some of the nuance and detail Oda careful put in.
Two reasons they don't show the actual fight, at least in this case: - this was animated in 1999 and had a weekly schedule instead of being seasonal like modern anime, so it was hard for them to animate everything. This improves greatly over time. - Shanks as a character is a mystery. One Piece likes to keep things from you, or keep things vague, until the time is right 💪🙂
Also worth noting is that showing the fight implies that they are on the same level. Oda doesn't show the fights but just the results because it is an immensely unbalanced fight, which is best shown by an instant loss. The anime doesn't have much choice in adapting that, although they do screw up on that later on in the series for the sake of padding where some very one-sided battles were made to look far more equal than they actually were.
@@Aviertje Agree, LA viewers think the anime skipped fights when in reality Shank's crew is just too strong, it takes one person to quickly knock out all, not showing these battles until way later into the series (still waiting...) whereas LA kinda nerfs everyone except Mihawk which might go awkward later.... then again if they ever reach a point where they have to showcase Shank group fighting again lol X'D
The difference between the anime and manga here, is what Zoro meant if Luffy can't let him continue to pursue his dream of being the greatest swordsman, he will have to commit Seppuku ( aka a samurai method of suicide via stabbing your stomach to disembowel yourself)
There is no other show that influenced my life more than OP. All main characters have admirable character traits, so it's stuffed with amazing role models. I'm 35 years old and follow the show since 20 years now. OP reactions got so popular since the life action. It's just amazing and I'm in for all of them ☺️
kinda the same 😊 i'm 38, watching since '99, using my little spare money to buy the manga and i have only one other manga/anime that influenced me more (Great Teacher Onizuka - led to me beeing a social worker/educator). but one piece helped me through some really tough times and saved me from giving up. i really enjoy rewatching it and now with all the reactions i enjoy it even more ☺
Anime Zoro & Luffy's bond is like Men nodding to each other.. LA took the long route of having Zoro not warm up instantly..vowing to protect Luffy's dream, only after Luffy defended Zoro's...and both options are great for their own mediums. Here, Zoro is literally playing pirates with Luffy...it just solidifies with time.
tf you mean playing pirates? he defied the Navy and was branded a pirate almost instantly. It also only takes a couple episodes before Zoro finally calls himself a pirate.
@@keithgraham8588 He can defy the navy and be a criminal..not necessary a pirate. He just agreed to join Luffy, calling him Captain..its written in a way for young boys..Main character meets another, go together from here..with roleplay of captain n crewmate. Not that much of a substance..so..playing pirates. The bond solidified with time..but not here.
just a fyi one piece episode titles tend to spoil the episode sometimes the title says a lot and sometimes it doesn't. I recommend if you don't want to get spoiled by the title to not read it lol you can always read the title after the episode and judge yourself if it was a big spoiler or not
Luffy in LA during at the bar: "Maybe I can get inside flying. I could grab on a bird or something." Luffy here in anime: Literally got stuck on the bird's beak
Showing Luffy planning things in the LA on how to enter a location is already ruining Luffy's character so much. He would never plan anything and would just fly in because acting without thinking is his trait. This is still true even with up to date chapters.
you should watch The breath taking world of One Piece there's no spoilers at all but it will show you what to expect a lot of people watch it before starting the show.
I agree new fans should watch it, Also One Piece is known for their vibrant bright colours but I guess LA have to tone a lot of it down due to CGI stuff ( I just noticed the trend of all Live Actions having a dark grey hue and night time instead of daylight setting based on original source material... kinda miss more saturated colours )
It's funny, in the live action when Luffy and Coby are talking about how to enter the marine base Luffy suggests entering by flying on a bird is a nod to this and next episode
Devil Fruits are rumored in the four seas but since the four seas are relatively peaceful their is slim to no chance of meeting someone with the abilities or the fruit itself. However if you go to the Grand Line than the chance is higher but you will find more who ate a fruit than the actual fruits .
Not many serious questions were asked this session.. but whenever u "think outloud", gotta mention to Not Spoil..or someone deep in the series might answer.
to answer your question about different devil fruits, there are many different kinds, but there is only one of each fruit. so luffy ate the "gum gum fruit" and that means there is no other gum gum fruit in the world, so he is only one with rubber powers. if someone else eats a devil fruit, it will be a fruit with another name (like buggy's chop chop fruit that you saw in the live action). every devil fruit user is unique in that regard, no two are the same.
so technically every devil-fruit is one of a kind, but a few of them have similarities with each other or are just variations of the same power/concept. This can sometimes cause a "relationship of subordination" between particular fruits where one is objectively better than the other.
for ages, luffy and usopp are 17, koby is 15 or 16, zoro and sanji are 19, and nami is 18! theres a couple different reasons why they cut away from fights. for one, animating fight scenes takes time and money, and early one piece isnt given much of either lol. so when the fight itself isnt the interesting bit, or you already know whos gonna win, theyll often cut away for easier production. youll see as one piece gets more popular over time, the production team will be given more resources, and the animation will reflect that. another reason could be that its a secret! if a fights gonna give away something important about a character before the big reveal, theyll often cut away or make things intentionally vague to keep the mystery
Tips on watching One Piece Anime, you can skip the recap which is anything showed before the Title screen, and watch in multiple chunks, some 3 episodes would be better and skip filler ( usually some viewers will mention to skip once you are near it, for now the anime does not have any filler until ep 50+ but yeah only around 10% of the episodes are filler, the rest are mostly cannon / slight filler mixed in that does not change how the manga went)
Yeah the filler thing is an issue that splits the fanbase, many people will suggest to skip all of them, but some are really good stories, especially the early ones ike Warship Island Arc or G8.
There can be multiple reasons why they do not show fights: - budget: Its difficult to animate actual interesting fight scenes, so especially in the early days they didn't bother and cut to the end result (Game of thrones season 1 did a similar thing, when Tyrion was knocked out right before the battle was about to begin) - The fight isn't important: if the fight is inconsequential to the story a lot of manga/anime do not bother to show you the fight, because its clear who is going to win and it doesn't further the story or the characters. - a secret: sometimes characters show secret techniques etc.. that the reader/viewer is not meant to know yet, so they cut away. this usually is indicated by the reaction of the enemy once you cut to the result of the battle. they will say something like "I didn't know, that you are...."
A government may label anyone who oppose their authority as pirates or terrorists. It's legal technicality, sometimes not related to ethics or morals at all
live action is cool, but one piece anime is much cooler and detailed in each story... and we see Luffy's character here, ridiculous, hilarious, entertaining...hee Continue the reaction, you will be addicted and like it
HONESTLY SPEAKING, You should do 5 episodes per reaction. 5 Episodes is almost an arc which 1/3 of the entire saga. This way you will enjoy the story while being in the flow of the anime. The anime is more fun the Live Action but also slower and has builds up and proper fight scenes.
It's nice to see that many people are watching One Piece, you won't regret it, it's a masterpiece, have fun watching it.

Good to know! Thank you for answering my question!🙂
I was waiting for this! Love ur videos~ and to answer ur question Luffy is 17, Zoro is 19, and I believe Nami is 18

Its a shounen anime, fighting is what the genre is all about!
It is _much more_ thannjust a generic shounen, have some respect. @@SuperSky9

Luffy and zoro are more comedic in the anime luffy and zoro are more matured in live action but both good in different versions
Ohh so you want to know more about the power Shanks uses to make the Sea King go away...
No problem, just watch about 500 more episodes :D
shanks has a strong crew but they haven't shown how they fight even in the latest episode, just enjoy watching one piece
Yeah
You will like next eps, a dog side story that cut from the live action
live action is cool, but one piece anime is much cooler and detailed in each story... and we see Luffy's character here, ridiculous, hilarious, entertaining...hee
Continue the reaction, you will be addicted and like it
Shanks power isn't devil fruit power as he was able to swim
