A perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Housing prices, Inflation, bank collapse, severe drought in the agricultural belt, recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages, baby formula shortages, available automobile shortages and prices, the price of living place. It's all coming together and it could lead to a real disaster towards the end of this year (or sooner). With inflation currently at about 6%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

Indeed, you are correct! But on the advantageous aspect, economic downturns offer numerous prospects for ordinary individuals to create wealth from the ground up. Nevertheless, seeking guidance from an investment planner might be necessary if you desire a more assertive return.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

I been growing my own vegetables. Celery you take the heart and put it in water. I keep it inside at a window because I live in Florida. It grows roots and I wait till it is a small pony tail root then I put it in soil. Needs watering every day. If a tomato doesn't look good I cut it and put it in soil . My God I get beautiful tomatoes from that bad tomato. Green beans grow fast. Got bushes of them. When it gets colder in Florida I cut the eyes on the potatoes and plant them. I get the smaller potatoes from those. Food is food. I always use the seeds from what I eat. Fun to watch it all grow

My local Walmart recently changed their checkout area to a guided, one-way-only system with a blocked-in cattle corral exit. They have also greatly reduced the checkout counter space at the non-self-checkout registers, making it difficult to get items out of your basket. They're either preparing for people to buy much less or are trying to push people to online ordering. Either way it's irritating and I refuse to use self-checkout as it's a hassle when you have a full basket and the only reason I shop at Walmart is to stock up on certain things for the month, much of which isn't available at my local rural market. So irritating!

The actual values of things are still the same as they were. The difference in prices from then to now are only indicative of the lack of value of our currency in the eyes of the world. Up here in RI and MA, it's one for the "as a general rule" department in terms of finding what you want.
As a general rule, you can take your pick of what you want to stock up on, and you'll be able to back stock a case of it. Canned soup, canned tuna, canned vegetables, rice, beans, or anything else you can think of. You're probably better off hitting a few stores to cobble a case together rather than loading up caseloads of product into your cart (for purposes of not telegraphing).
    The exceptions:
    >Canned meat at Wal-Mart on my last visit was on the thin side. You're going to be buying the stuff in ones, twos and threes because that's the extent of what stock levels will allow you to do. In other words, forget about buying a case (12 cans) of GV canned beef unless you want everyone in the store see you clean out the facing.
    >Food banks and food pantries, based on what I've observed on my last round of pest control services, are blown out of canned tuna. Facilities that have canned salmon are fairly well stocked because they backed up the truck when it was available.

(maybe cause of supply shortages for various reasons such as they aren't allowing farmers to grow it.)

Make your own chocolate syrup, it's super easy and tastes so much better, and it's healthier! 1.5 cups of water, 1.5 cups of sugar, 1 cup cocoa, pinch of salt, and a splash of vanilla, bring to a boil then simmer for about 20 minutes or somewhere around there, to get to the desired syrupiness!😊

I have a crap pocket knife in my glovebox and dont care if something happens to it thru abuse... yet a friend of mine has this fancy $100 multi crome one... they gonna be pretty sad if they have to use/abuse it (agree have to replace from time to time but can buy a dozen of em for 20 bucks.)

Update: East TN-Our local Walmart has sectioned off about 1/4 of the parking lot. Inside the barricades are a ton of storage containers and tractor trailers. Inside the Walmart they are completely rearranging everything. There part of the store that holds food is being consolidated and there’s less options. For example they have pancake syrup but a lot less options. They had no molasses at all. The other day the freezers were all broken and you weren’t allowed to go in that area because the melting food wasn’t “safe”. Two days later they are fixed and fully stocked. I’m pretty confident they didn’t throw out the food and get a bunch of trucks in to restock everything.

They were also told the aisles were being widened to carry less stock/varieties in grocery and most other areas. He also said all Walmarts will have the same layout as well. We’ll see on that. Update... Prices here in the middle of Colorado are higher than a mad cat's back but they fluctuate with such rapidity that I believe that many of the perceived shortages on the shelves are due to folks stocking up their own shelves. It has been nearly impossible to get dried cherries at my Walmart for years due to one fella who comes in the day they are re-stocked and wipes out the whole bunch as soon as the store opens. I can't get around much, so I can't say about the other stores. However, there is a bank being finished just now as an add-on to the Wal mart. I don't know of the significance of that, but it has the odor of aquatic lifeforms. Our fruits and veggies appear adequate, although pricey. Chili is ridiculous and a 28oz. can of Keystone beef was almost $10.00. Some folks can't express their fear without seeming to be mean. It is rough on all of us, without the former certainty (however right or wrong), of a bright tomorrow. Be at peace. What you share is of tremendous value to us.

I've come to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter which store is short on what or what Cisco reports on a weekly basis. In the end we all can buy just about anything we want at one store or another...or a few days later when an order comes in. Size and brand name may not be what we'd like but rarely is it that we cannot get what we want. I no longer act on short-term shortages or empty shelves on a given day or rush out to stock anything in particular - I just keep buying a few extra cans a week and meat when it's on markdown. More important is when we get broad knowledge of things like a chocolate or olive shortage and resulting price spikes - this helps us plan ahead and save $ by stocking up before the spike.

      Stay alert havoc..
These daily observation reports are not entirely useless as you point out.
True enough there are misleading price swings and supply breaks at various stores.
      But.
Report like this can be like a road map, if you follow poplar
All items are clues,so just looking only for price or only for supply interrupt. Or only for if I can get what I'm looking for,,,,
all , all info has a bearing on: staffing , lower hours, etc etc c, so thank you..
