- You can hear this conversation near the end of Half Life 2: Episode 2, but I was too lazy to record it myself, so I took the audio from this video: • Half-Life 2 Episode 2:... . Anyway, I tought it was a good idea to animate it.

The guy with the AR2 really doesn’t sound like the radio operator/the guy that did most of the voices for the rebel/the guy that made the sniper from TF2
That just makes the whole scene better.
The actor for male citizens in HL2 and HL2: EP1 is John Patrick Lawrie. Many rebels in EP2 are also voiced by him, but some are voiced by Adam Baldwin.

In the older times the hunters were weak, they were like the stalkers having no armor and all skin. Well at the time they were prototypes, they were so fragile that this guy managed to kill 20 of them.

I love how expressive they are through body language. Quite underrated.
Fun fact: unless I was blatantly lied to, there was a cut line from Episode 2 that implied this guy wasn’t lying and it’s really funny.

The ar3 is not the emplacement gun. You wouldn't usually carry your assault rifle like a chainsaw. In mmod its heavy, so its hmg.

How funny. They call OSIPRs as AR2s, when AR2 simply stands for second (because ar1 was an ak47, and earlier ar2 was an OICW XM29 rifle) rifle (rifle as a type of gun in the game's files).
I guess the codename really stuck

I feel there should be an SFM where AR3 Guy actually goes and pulls out an AR3... And it turns out to be a Combine Machinegun that were used by Combine Suppressors.
I used to imagine an AR3 is just his fists, it’s actually a type of radio which is why he says he’s a radio operator

After some thinking, this actually a foreshadowing created by valve that hl3/hl2ep3/any 3rd series of valve games will never be created same as ar3 which is not exist

What if they add the AR3 in Episode 3?
No,the AR3 conversation was about some of the rebel citizens didn't know what exactly were the hunters,like when he said that the city was "lousy with AR3s" or he killed hunters with punch.
I know that but what I'm saying is it would be funny for the player to come across the AR3 in Episode 3 (presuming the game will come out eventually) because the player and the other rebel assume that he's lying and to find the AR3 would be ironic.

Could be a prototype. I highly doubt the combine military forces would maintain their same weaponry over the 20 year occupation period. It could be the equivilant of the gluon gun or tau cannon from the first game.

Fun fact: If you equip the fists and look at the author stuff you can see the refugee's line about killing hunters with fists (only possible in Gmod)

AR3 is also exist as Combine emplacement gun or mounted gun, can be seen on Assault on nova prospekt.
And the canals a few times and many other places
That's an MMOD thing, the mounted guns are just an AR2 with a bipod

The Emplacement Gun is just called the Emplacement Gun or called as func_tank in its entity name and is not referred as the AR3 unless you are playing the MMod which is a fanmade mod

Fast explonasion. The AR-3 is the Emplacement Gun. AR-2 is the Standard Issue Rifle used by the Overwatch Transhuman Arm. If anyone thinks that Emplacement gun is called "Pulse Machine Gun" then you're wrong beacuse, Suppressors in Half-Life: Alyx use Pulse Machine Guns and they look alot diffrent than the classic AR-3.
Emplacement Gun is not an AR3. It's only ever called the Emplacement Gun, and seems to function as more of an LMG than an AR. Also calling it a Pulse Machine Gun, while not the official name, wouldn't be wrong, because it literally is a pulse weapon and a machine gun. The machine gun wielded by Suppressors that we see in Half Life Alyx is never given an official name. In code, it is simply referred to as "weapon_heavymg".
