Can I use this process to take a leather grain imprint? I'm going to refurb car leathers and want it to look as genuine as possible with grain patterns. Thanks!
not a big deal.. before I actually googled it I was thinking of spraying a ton of silicone on the surface, than applying 2 component glue on it.. I still think that would also work, but imma try his method first anyway
There was a plastic Blessed Mother statue on my dash from the previous owner. Someone ripped it off before I bought the car, my 1975 Mercedes 450SEL, so super expensive to replace. There is a quarter sized hole there. You know that’s all you see when you look into the car. I can’t wait to use this method to fix it. This is a genius idea! Thank you

your channel is freaking awesome👌, tons of information without talking doodoo about how much of an ninja skilled expert you need to be, it gives the average joe plenty confidence to make their own repairs.Thank you guys for keeping everything short n sweet👍
Damn, thats one hell of a good trade secret. I always find myself wondering about the small tedious detail stuff, such as this, and how to repair it. Kudos and thanks for sharing
That's the coolest hack I've seen thanks for that now I just have to go find where I put all of those damn extra dent puller tabs I bought last year... lol
Awesome video. I figured I could use something adhere to the surface to match the existing texture, by my idea was more complicated. Yours is brilliant ! Thanks.
I have a 66 cadillac, and some genius drove 2 screws into the door armrest plastic trim and drilled a big hole in the plastic trim in which the wiper controls are in, to put a switch in to bypass the AC controls. This is great, i hope it’ll work for me !
It'll work simon, just follow the instruction and make sure you use the exact same products/tools we use. What a shame someone did that to a beautiful 66 Cadi :( Glad you are putting some love back into it! Thanks for watching, have a fantastic weekend and all the best on your project my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Glad you liked it Levi, we've used this method for years and years, it works great! Thank you for watching, have a fantastic day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
This is simply awesome. I need to re-texture an area of approx. 3” by 3” of my rear bumper lower cover and I didn’t know how to go about it. I tried to remove a scratch with one of those magic erasers and ended up flattening the texture. It bothers the hell out of me to the point I was considering buying a new one which is quite expensive. I just hope this works for exterior trim.
Ray, if you follow and use the exact same products/tools shown, you will have great success with your exterior trim doing this process. Thank you for watching and sharing, have a great rest of your week and all the best on your project my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
@@SweetProjectCars I’d appreciate if you tell me what kind of paint would you recommend instead of the filler putty. You see the texture on my bumper extension is very shallow and I feel that the putty will be too thick and leave sort of a noticeable map once I treat the area.
This is such a great idea! I'm looking to repaint some panels in my panda and the amount of texture is INSANE, was dreading trying to make it look normal again
Awesome video! I've always thought about how someone could duplicate the texture. I've wanted to build a console to graft onto the top of my dash above the stereo to mount a tablet in but wanted to be able to replicate the texture of the rest of the dash so it looked OEM
You're so welcome! Thank you for watching and sharing, we really appreciate it. Hope you have a great week, all the best with your endeavor my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Having worked in a car plant this is the same idea that they used to repair damaged plastics that came off the line. They were sent to the plant body shop and they would repair the interior damaged plastics with heat and while it was still warm, stamp it with similar device that you are demonstrating. You would never know that the interior plastics had been damaged. It was then shipped to the dealership.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing, that's very interesting, we really appreciate it wade! Hope you have a great week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Greg it is usually fellow car channels that feel better by slamming others with a thumbs down..but we will keep going to help good people like you my friend...mike
Hey Mike. Just an idea... Should make a video about plastic welding on cracked plastic pieces. I have used this technic in my bumper cracks and in some plastic pieces in the engine bay like the air filter reservoir and works perfect with some small wires with crazy shapes melted in the plastic for reinforcement and a little sand paper after to smooth it out. Have a nice new year Mike! God bless u man!
Thank you for all the hard work you put into your channel in 2018. It's really been an awesome year - so many top notch videos. This one really shares a true trade secret. We have a detail shop down our street and I always wondered how they were able to match the original texture when they are repairing dashes... Wishing you all the best for 2019.
