    Hi there, I’m just starting out in this kind of thing and I really enjoyed this video and off the back of this I’ve been able to develop this using cobra knots which is really great and said to mention if we would like to see different knots etc and yes I really would. Many thanks Steve.

    I was wonder if you can make another one but with maybe a quick release and snake knot toward the top so it’s round around the neck and then turning into cobra knot and the other side like a single strand to offset bulkyness then both going into the cobra knot buckle at the bottom? Lol possible or no? Thanks man I watch all your videos

    Love this piece. Looks great!
    Question, is there another weave that may be slightly thinner than the cobra to go around the neck? The one featured in the video seems awfully thick to be worn for me. :(

  • @Kaylubdee
    @Kaylubdee 3 года назад +19

    USER BEWARE: The measurements at the beginning of the video are wrong! Two 14’ strands CANNOT make 16” of lanyard. You need one foot of paracord for each inch of braid. I wasted 28’ of paracord following these instructions. Don’t make my mistake.

    • @denzelnuke1

      I followed along exactly as he did. Yet ran short as well. And I see you commented this 3 YEARS ago. Multiple other people commented the same thing. However, the video has not been updated in any way to rectify that issue. So I too just wasted a bunch of cord. Feelin' a bit annoyed, and wish I had read your comment before starting.

  • @mariefunken7965
    @mariefunken7965 6 месяцев назад +1

    I would strongly recommend to measure the material much more generously than stated in the tutorial. That way you avoid running short, like it happened to me.
    It’s approximately 20 foot (5,5 to 6 m) for each of the long pieces, depending on how narrow you are pushing the knots together.

    • @ashleykristina2964
      @ashleykristina2964 3 месяца назад

      Agreed! I followed along doing exactly as he did. I didn't stray from the measurements whatsoever. Yet I still ran short. So I'm unsure how he managed to have enough cord to finish his. When I literally followed along, copying everything he did. It made me wonder if he added a few extra inches to be safe, but never stated he did so. My knots looked to be the same size/ width as his as well. I'm confused, and now have to start over.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  6 лет назад

      You could do that, but having a break away point is a good idea as a safety. If the neck lanyard were to get caught on anything it would be best to have a break away point. If you wanted to do one piece though, I'd just make a cow's hitch on one half of the 3/4" buckle, then put the ends of the cord through the other half and just start doing cobra knots back towards the end that you did the cow's hitch on.

    I think you need to update this video to include the proper measurements/length of cord actually required to complete this lanyard. I followed along doing exactly what you did. Yet I ran out of cord towards the end. Wasted a bunch of cord, and my time..and now have to start from scratch. Multiple people have commented the exact same thing, only years ago. Had you fixed the length of cord that was actually needed for this project. This wouldn't have occured.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  Год назад

      Just use one continuous strand for the neck lanyard part.
      -Combine the lengths needed, make a cow hitch on one half of the buckle that connects to the carabiner and size your needed length
      -Then run the working ends through the other half of the buckle next to the cow hitch
      -Start tying cobra knots going back the way you came over the core strands
      I hope that helps and makes sense!

    • @KISSTHECLOWN1

      @@cawalkabout probably would if i made these types of videos. If you are wanting to pull your knots simply place an additional hoop at the last 2-3 knots at the end. Then place the 2 cords you would normally cut inside the hoop. Hold the end tight and pull the 2 cords back through. Finally cut off the remaining material.

    I hate to be this person but the reason he hasn't changed the measurements is because they aren't incorrect. If you are pulling your cobra knots nice and tight, this length is sufficient. So yes I understand a disclaimer, but only that if you don't draw the knots nice and tight-the length MAY be short. I feel like his measurements are usually pretty spot on-and this one is no different. Just maybe a little too spot on. I had no issue with 14 on each side.. had hardly anything left though

      I know this wasn’t a video just about a cobra knot... I was using that part as an example of how fast it went. I’m saying as a beginner this did not go slow enough with good visual perspective. It was obviously a main part of the lanyard so it’s important to show newcomers how it’s incorporated.
