      Hi, Richard! Atlas Trainman, Athearn Ready-To-Roll, and Walthers Trainline all have some very nice affordable locomotives to start out with. The good things with this hobby is- you can start out basic and then grow out and up from there. I always recommend starting with something simple like those I mentioned- to make sure the hobby is for you. Then, it’s easy to expand as your knowledge and experience levels increase. If anyone is even remotely interested about 8 years ago I scored 4 Lionel engines 2 of which were South Pacific Santa Fe N gauge engines and two steam locomotives new in their boxes. I am thinking the stuff was made early 90s the boxes also seemed to say to me the stuff was in a house the burnt or was on fire. I paid eighty bucks and don't even have a track set up period it was the blue & yellow Santa Fe engine is why I even bought the sheet and it sits on an office shelf behind my deck chair here and I still wonder why I bought the things. The detail on the thing is awesome really is. I thought Lionel was out of business and I was thinking it was stuff from the 60s or 70s but the dates on the boxes are 1990 and 1991. I would like some history on the stuff I can't find anything on google but that is nothing unusual

    When I watch a video like this, I wonder about the realization of indutrial-complexes in the model scale. For me it seem´s like nobody is looking for your real old and nice buildings you have got in your country without a doubt. But in most of the cases there are modern and ugly buildings shown. If I had the money to realize a minature dreamworld, my dreams wouln´t be ugly in any way. That´s for shure.
    You ask about what your watcher prefere: I prefere european model railways, because there is a much greater romantic spirit in most of the installations. Sometimes, if for example an old big wooden railway-bridge is built, taken out of the "western" landscape in US, it becomes very close to that "spirit" I wrote about. You also have got a unbelieveable great amount of landscapes and natural wonders in your country. That is what I miss very often in american model railways. I give you an example, what I´m talking about - and this very well built in the US: ruclips.net/video/kRLbS226dqA/видео.html

    • @MainTrack
      @MainTrack  Год назад

      Hello! Thanks for watching! There are definitely a lot of differences between U.S. and European railroads in that sense. I have long wanted to go on a trip to Europe and tour the country by rail- both to see the sights and the railroads! I agree with you about western American railroads and I certainly lean toward those in my interests. Some may find the western landscapes bland, but I find a lot of beauty in that part of our country. -Mike
