Tamiya TT02 Kyosho Killer? Speed Test Shootout Take 2!!!

- Before we start, this run does not affect the standings of out speed test, it's just for fun!
And it's all because of my friend in the USA, Paul Coughlin @Paul__FC who saw Fil @poorboysrc put a bigger, fresher battery in his Kyosho Fazer Mk2 Rally (FZ-02 chassis) on his speed test and beat me by 2kph (about 1.5mph). So Paul sent me an exact same batter via the wonders of the internet and said "Go and give it hell, Mark"!!!
So here we are, back at the car park for another go at trying to beat the speed we tied at, 25mph.
Do you think I can do it? Is my TT02 a Kyosho killer?

Well fellas, it looks like I'm eating a BIG ol' piece of humble pie for breakfast today! I said you were going down, and I got spanked, didn't I? Hahaha! - But hey, I didn't realize this was gonna turn into a "lets all gang up on the Kyosho guy" session! You fellas play for keeps, don't ya? Lol! And Paul, I thought we were pals. Both Bruins fans, enjoy fine IPA's, and now I'm starting to think it was all a lie. Just a clever rouse to get me beat up by Team TT-02. Ok, I see what's goin' on now. I've got to step up my game a little, boys. Look out, team Kyosho is coming back with a vengeance! 😜
Well Fil, I hope that humble pie tasted good! 😅 But seriously, I reckon the speed increase was as much to do with getting a straight run in as it was with the new battery! Every little helps! And I think the TT02 is faster due to the gearing rather than a better motor - I knew it had 29 in it because of my Poor Boys RC Speed Challenge run with this Absima 15T motor which also did 29!
I reckon the Kyosho will hit back hard when we come to off-road challenges, so I need to take it while I can! 😂. Bring it on brother! 🤩👊👍

@@MarkBryanRC maybe try the rear hubs with the toe in? I put them in the speed run car and they really helped with keeping it straight. Might help. Looking forward to the slalom runs of both cars!! Take care Mark.

As for that TTO2, I think it came from the same batch as Moo moos mustang gt4 which we used in last year's speed run..... It drove identical to ours! Didn't want to go straight, and veering off violently all over the place! 😂
How you didn't Kurb it is somewhat of a miracle!
Can't wait to see what Fil comes back with now, theres no way he's going to just sit back and let a TTO2 wipe the floor with the mighty Fazer.

29mph not bad for a TT02 that's for sure, don't know if Phil can beat that with the Fazer but I'm sure he'll give it a try. P.S. My TT02 handles much better since I changed the two screws in my steering pivots much easier to keep in a straight line now but remember to check how free they are by disconnecting the servo first.😊😊😊😊😊

Hiya Carl, too right mate I am having a mare with this one - all my other TT02's go straight as a die! I'll keep tinkering! Yes the LiPo has a lot more punch, I was dubious about them at first but getting used to them now. But if you are happy with your NiMh, stick with them, they still work well! Thanks as always! 😎👊👍

Hiya mate. Hey I like the way you have replicated Fil's in car presenting 😁 Hey so that new battery made quite a difference didn't it? The car did look a bit of a handful though. Don't know if the radio you are using can support receivers with gyros but they certainly help with straight line driving. Anyway always an entertaining video with the dynamic duo. It's a shame that Fil doesn't live a bit closer because you could play with each others (matron 🤣) Isn't it amazing to have some sunny weather at last? Hope you are enjoying it. Best wishes 😁👍👍

He he, yeah, the powerplant is what supplies the engine, gotta have them good Volts in place and Amps flowing to get the Watts going!
Great job clocking 4 extra mph! Might also have helped with the added weight of the big LiPo pack, give a bit of stability.
I watched your videos with this car a few times again recently, I remember it was already very unstable on your first run, it's the one where Alf said it has its own brain, it's the same car, right? I think you need to sort that steering for the slalom, eh?
Oh yes Mads, the Amps were flowing nicely with this new battery! The weight might have helped but this is no way as good as my speed attempt car from last year, goodness knows what's wrong with it but I will get it sorted! Yeah Alf did say that! He was right! My pb with a tt01 is 93 mph rubber o rings on all steering components locked servo saver staggerd foams locked diffs 6900kv on 3s yeah racing motor mount and max gearing plus delta lemans body straight as an arrow
Hi Conrad, that's an impressive speed, thanks for the info! Last year I got my brushed TT02 up to 45mph on a NiMh, and that was straight as an arrow too. Don't know what the hell is up with this one! 😅👍

good run, i do think maybe the 15 turn combined with the offroad tyres on road might have to much power/to little grip for the diff's to put the power down and 1 side just starts slightly spinning knocking it out of course. atleast it seemed similar to when i was testing my BT-01 in front motor / rwd config with a 17T when i start to accelerate a bit to hard it starts to go left or right.
got a oil filled diff to try and mechanically fix it just waiting for some extra oils from china to start experimenting (dirt cheap over there...hard to find though :P) and i recently got a better remote (carson starter > Radiolink RC4GS) which has a gyro built in to the receiver that i didn't use because i didn't really know what it was for....apparanetly it really helps with not flipping it over, keeping it in a strait line under power, and not doing a judo roll when off power turning :P (and i can source it's receiver's with gyro for about half the price of a receiver for a carson starter >.

Nice Mark, but I always thought mAh was capacity, more or less range or how long the run is.. I use those Zeee 5200mAh packs and they are the same voltage as my 4000mAh Gartpot 2S lipos, 7.4 volts, I really don't understand. It use to be, more voltage the faster the car ran.. So, this means, I can put a bigger fuel tank in my SUV and it should go faster...
What you say is correct as long as the motor Amp draw is well within the battery specs I think. There is also the internal resistance of the battery, or at least that used to be the case with Nimh cells.
Thanks Bob, yeah I think you are right but both Fil and I went faster with the new batteries. I'm sure the majority of my speed increase was due to it going in a straight line at full throttle for more than a few feet this time! I was backing off the throttle before! And remember, this exact motor did 29mph in my last years speed challenge TT02, but on a NiMh 7.2v and the same pinion but the high speed spur. 😎👍
EDIT: I checked that new lipo after the run and it's still showing 8.4v!!!! 😮
I had the electrical engineers here scratching there heads at work .Saying it can't be but yet every time the higher the millamp the faster it goes. I think it may have more to due with the capacity to deliver said volts with out heating from internal resistance. The engineers here have a white board up still trying to figure it out. Testing resistance in the esc before thermal soaking and draw of the motor. Everything. I'm like a caveman, "big number go fast!"
@@Paul__FC Still, 7.4 volts is 7.4 volts, more volts, the faster the motor turns, like going from a 7000mAh 7.4 volts lipo pack to a 2200 11.1 volts lipo pack, the 3S is still going to be faster even with a lower mAh.. mAh is capacity I always thought. Again, that's like replacing a 13 gallon fuel tank in a car with a 17 gallon tank and said car now goes faster.... I still don't get it... Don't even ask me about C rating's, I seen a ton of videos on that and it blows my mind, I do know that C ratings are not what they say they are on the packs, I cant confirm or deny that.
@@MarkBryanRC Very nice... Your charger should tell you the battery volts.. 8.4 volts for a 2S is pretty typical I think. You might need to revisit your speed test of NiMh vs Lipo now that you have newer of both...
I have a Ford gt mk 3 with a brushless set up on a stock pinion and stock spur gear. It reaches 34 mph. On a 3s lipo and geared up wheel size.

I locked the front diff on mine to get it to keep in a straight line .not a chance with unlocked front diff on mine .I was running a 10x2 LRP blue motor on a 1080 g2 esc with the adjustable drag brake on the fly ..
Hi Craig, thanks for the info! Yeah I ran that 10x2 LRP motor but in my road TT02 and it went as straight as an arrow. As you can see, I still need to sort this rally chassis out! 😅It's got a mind of it's own! 😂😬👍
