Beautiful song. It's been years since I've heard it and as soon as I heard her voice along with the 80s synth, I was transported into my memories in a healthier way than 'alcohol can take you (me) there'.🤩💗🎤 Loving that bass line.🎸😊
I never got to see either the old, seedy, vice-ridden Times Square; or the new Disney-fied TS. It's great that we have this beautifully-done time capsule. "A Child's Adventure was my favourite early-80s Marianne Faithfull album. To me, she's one of the originals.
Wish I would never have heard this song. I listen to it three times a day and every time it makes me cry. I dream of it and see her walking round Times Square all the time. It kills me and I cannot get it off my mind.
I am a recovering addict- and still yearn for my substances--Marianne is SO correct in her analysis of the RAGE- and now I am chubby and for some undiagnosed reason most of my hair fell out. I write tnis 2 days after poor sweet and bloody right about the atrocities committed by the priesthood - in Ontario we just unearthed another mass grave of Indigenous kids- under a church- I adore Marianne- one of her oldest fans! My male "idol" remains Leonard Cohen a very cool cat whom she has covered admirably...Namaste Peace Be Upon You ( listen to her discussions against drugs etc, please, not the answer) ❤
In a car taking a back seat, staring out the window, thinkin about danger. This reminds me of being in a strange vehicle going to get drugs with my friend Alex. We didn't really know where we were going or who the guys were driving.
Michael McLoughlin This is the Times Square I remember. Marianne Faithful has it perfectly. I left N.Y.C. in '96. This song brings back that whole scene & feeling.
What's one to say in regards to Marianne Faithfull but simply stunning to look at and that voice has so much emotion you will be swept up with it love love love ❤ thanks for your contribution to firstly my record collection then cds then online thanks Marianne
i was a liitle kid, of 10 & 11, in late '60's, when ALL THIS 'WHIRLWIND,' 'brit-invasion,' or 'euro-invasion,' was 'on-going'... i didn't even LIKE 'the Stones,' except later, for their tune 'Hang-Fire,' which i always thot, was 'Hang Five,' surfer-teeny-bop, that i was, lol... & much later, 'Steel Wheels,' LP, that was my-car-they-were-stealing !!! )...long-story...( fgs, lol... but this is a very nice song from Ms. Faithful... in my life, i avoided 'drug-addiction,' like the plague, & had no trouble with that, really... i had no idea she was such a pretty girl, in the '60's... Then, something astounding 'happened.' in 1981, January, i moved back to LA, where my co-worker, roomate, of long-standing, had rented Ms. Faithful's previously-owned canyon house... It was really quite a wonderful place, with huge windows, & gorgeous view, if, cold, in the winter... :) i feel very priviledged, to have gotten to live at that house, for a year & a half. ty, marianne, for your 'generation,' of women, who did all they could do, for mine... it helped. :) 💜✨💖✨💝💫
love what you've done putting together the images, perfect for the track,.. and especially the inclusion of the intro interview excerpt.. I'd never seen that and it gave me a better insight on her recording of the song that makes me love it so much more
Not sure why or what made me think of the 60s, not a teen yet, and I recall seeing the lost look in the high school kids, the Hippie generation was roaring thru the country town I lived in in Canada, the high schooler were having fun, us younger ones were watching, mouths open in horror, getting reports of a car wreck, 2 killed, empty school bus seats, another took his life, parent splitting up, kids moving, wreckage, but pot plants growing in corn patches, on and on. I'm not sure why this song took me back, so glad I missed out on the fun, looking back, I didn't miss much. The song somehow reminded me of my reaction, mouth open wondering. Sadly looking at our school year book, gone gone gone. Terrible experiment, freedom isn't always free like Janis Joplin sang
So insightful, we've lost so much knowledge by not studying addiction in a more enlightened way, along w/ Rock, knowledge lost, one chance in history. History lost
Somehow this song makes me cry. Not that I've been there, but because its so honest. And paintfull. Love Marianne F.
I haven't been there, but I could see it from where I was. Makes me cry too.
It's about a human thing, not only an addict thing.
Be well.

Loving that bass line.🎸😊
One of the greatest songs in the last 50years
Still 1 of my favourite albums. Any song that you can feel the emotion of the artist just listening to it ROCKS!
I have always loved Marianne and her artistry. This is such a hauntingly beautiful song.

40 years later, and I still see the razor blade hovering over the mirror.
And I wish for it still
Never getting my fill
And still have time to kill...

Perfect combination of Barry Reynolds’ composition and Marianne’s delivery

The hell with "addictions". "To study them"?! For what?
SILENT BLUE DELIVERY: that's a nice title - does it mean anything?
Her final Goodbye
Worst thing about being an addict, is the lying to friends and yourself.
Condenado Jagger tenía como novia a una bellísima mujer y a la mejor cantante Inglesa.
But still not a alcoholic
That cam later
..Is that Marianne walking in black leather?
Bumped a button dragging the little left finger over sorry
