I have heard Amaldev live when he visited our college He is not only a great musician ,but also a gentleman and cultured person. His English is impeccable.
I have heard Jesudas singing both popular and classical concerts. My father was an old friend of Augustine Joseph, gentleman and actor-singer at a time when stage drama was not a career worth following if you wanted to make a living. I have briefly stayed next door to Jesudas in Abhiramapuram Madras,and heard his saadhakam too. Talked to him once visiting my hometown not far from his wife's house..However he was not the saint that he could have been. He is a celebrity, an industry and a cultural icon to boot .But not known to be tolerant and charitable. No judgement here. He should acknowledge that he is what he is because of many many men and women who were his angels- film-makers, music directors,fellow singers and such.I know some people who said that his pronunciation itself would be corrected by knowledgeable directors to whom he owes something. Celebrities are not born ,they are made by circumstances combined with the help and support of other humans, plus the hardwork and the God given talents of the person.

Whereas the songs of MSV, Ilayaraja, Devarajan, MK Arjunan, Dakshinamoorthy, Madan Mohan, Ravi, RDB, Naushad etc still sound modern and are all time classics. ARR was just a passing fancy whose time has come and gone. His father, RK Shekar, by the way, was much more talented and original than the son.

@@RatesReviewtimes-ie1rl Yes, but those are the earlier ones I spoke about. ARR’s music is exhausted, and it didn’t last long. But the way even those earlier better songs now sound somewhat dated.
