- This thunderbolt will be going up for sale on ebay. It is completely functional. The top rotor box has some sheet metal damage but no internal damage. Right now it is setup for 208 3 phase. The only part that needs 3 phase is the 7.5hp blower motor. You could change the motor to a 240vac version or just get rid of it all together and use a leaf blower. It doesn't take that much air to make it loud but the more air the louder it is.
This setup is only temporary and is not meant to use regularly this way. Proper wiring will need to be done. It is only put together this way to be able to ship it and let the buyer do all the customizing.
I own one of these and had it installed for 10 years. A recording does not do this thing justice. The best way I can describe this thing is BONE RATTLING loud. It really is quite an experience and will leave you with an ear-to-ear grin time and time again.

You really can't tell how loud it is. The last one I sold I tried making a video that the horn would swing and aim at the camcorder. It was so loud that the camcorder would lockup. I couldn't even do it over 150' away and it was a good sony camcorder. You could play the file back and as soon at the horn was just about to aim at the camcorder it just ended!

By chance, could you post the parts or plans you use to build the control box? I have a feeling that when I get a Thunderbolt in the near future, it will be lacking a control panel
There is really not much to it. A single pole contactor for the rotation motor and chopper and a 3 pole contactor for the blower. All have a 24vac coil so add a 24vac transformer and some switches. The chopper is actually a variable speed motor based on what voltage you supply to it which will make the tone higher or lower. The original panels have a lot more stuff in them then you need to just run it plus some crazy over sized contactors that could run something much larger.

Chopper is what powers the thunderbolt, which is located near the horn
The blower is what powers it up to sound like this: 1:15 instead of 1:02
