In this episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, we'll be using Recruit with an Omen focused strategy! Recruit is a very powerful skull whose power is generated by getting as many summons on the field as possible and also maximizing your value with his skills. Getting a low skill cooldown is important so when you're swapping into your Recruit he is always able to cast them, but really the name of the game with Recruit IS swapping. At legendary whenever he swaps in he summons multiple random recruits that he'd summon normally via his skills, and this makes for the vast majority of his value. So, Recruit is a character who gets to generate value without directly involving himself in combat, and that's quite important for the other aspect of today's run: Omens! Omens are a powerful but dangerous subsect of items that all have the Omen inscription attached to them, and the more Omen inscriptions you have the more dangerous the run becomes. When you stack to Omen 3, you die if you take any direct damage to your HP. This is of course extremely dangerous and will absolutely lose you the run, but you can overcome in a few ways. Way one is, well, just don't get hit 4Head, but the other ways are actually reasonable. First you can get shield, and if you take damage to your shield you don't die, although stacking shield is a little difficult to pull off. Second, you can take the Dark Ability Mercury Hearts, and this is the most used method. Mercury Hearts stack up as you kill Dark Elites, two with each kill (four with the multi-kill glitch), but each time you take a HIT (not just damage, such as the little maids in Act 2 who push you and stun you) you lose a Mercury Heart stack. I absolutely cannot stand Mercury Hearts, I find them frustrating, and especially when the entire run hinges on you keeping them and you lose a stack cause someone stepped on your toes, it gets old fast. However, I don't do runs like this often, and every once in awhile it's worth to dust off the Omens and give them a whirl. So, that's today's run, Recruit with Omens! Joined by Hunter, can these two overcome the nightmares using Omens bring?

I used to think that you needed the bone omen for a good Omen 3 run. Surprisingly, it's not even that good and you don't even need it for 6+ omens. It's still useful but I would much rather an idol of the forgotten or misfortune omen dupe if I got slime. Also, items to always take on 5+ omen runs even over other omen items: all crit items, olive tree cudgel. That's why those are the best non-omen non-treasure + items in the game
