Hey Purple, I've been watching your series and commented on some past videos to give my 2 cents as an AC fan. Love your content, keep it up!
I always believed Rogue was just to give us a scope of the Templar cause and what their work entitled. I agree with your statement that in terms of story, Rogue didn't have much. A lot of the logic on both sides took some hits and it really took a lot before I even got warmed up to Shay after Edward.
In AC 3 there were a few scenes and even a small arc where Conner believed there was a chance for the Assassins and Templars could work together to better the world, but that notion died really quick and we went back to the eternal war they always had. Here in this game, we see how that mindset wasn't far off, especially with how Shay does his work in the actual game itself.
I will talk more about how this game relates a lot more to setting up AC Unity, but I would liked to see your opinion on it before making my comment.
Hope you all have a great day and thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts.
I appreciate the support and all the comments! Im not sure if how much i liked rogue came across in the video but I do, unity I was a bit more mixed on but i think that rogue was an overall positive addition to AC, and Unity specifically
@@Purple_PP Agreed!
I think, this Assassin's creed was better than oddisey or origins. Good video btw
12:38 "EpIc FiNaL bAtTle"
Youd better be joking
Sorry I’ll add /s next time
Yeah, you pretty much nailed it. Two of my favourite things that you didn't mention are the new zipline and the 2-way lift.
Very very true, along with enemy ships being able to board you. I try not to google/Reddit anything when making my video so it’s always my own thoughts but I certainly miss stuff
@@Purple_PP it's great that they can board our ship because we can be full health and it just saves time.
No one can cover every little detail, we all notice different stuff. I was saying that for any viewers that might be curious.
@@WideOldDanOh I appreciate it! This is how I learn the most about games I cover
@@Purple_PP same, I've learned a lot from RUclips comments
9:23 does full sync here, but doesn't in all others.
"I dIdnT hIt FuLl SyNc FoR AnYtHing"
Lol stay mad
@@Purple_PP inconsistent.
I’m 100% consistent in not giving a shit about fill synch
14:37 air assasinates a stalker, but when in a (to clarify) haystack, you cant jump in, and pull her out
You know this just reminds me, I can’t believe with all the time you spent on my ac3 video that you never acknowledged the special guest I had for the story intro. Of all people I thought you would have been the one to notice
@@Purple_PP ffs, I legit thought it was you
@@Purple_PP you legit got the own guy of this game to rag on it? Damn
Fun fact Nolan north was not a fan of ac3
4:56 you also forgot just before unity
3:16 "familiar but fresh"
You mean taking away shit, replacing it with worse shit and slightly modifiying shit is much better? Cool.
8:10 "intros you into renovating the city"
Okay but why though?
Fair point
Also, before you even think about butchering my name, its Ahn-yo-ka. Not anyolo, not anuka, not eggyolka, its anyoka.
10:20 "adewale's death lacked depth"
It also was just terrible... Where was this big-ass blunderbuss that could wipe out 5-10 dudes in one shot, instead of using two dinky little pistols?
Where was his machete? It would've been way cooler for you to have a stand off against him in the chaos of his ship! But instead youre on more boring land and him using a tiny little pathetic criminal knife!
Theres no valid reason why he wouldn't have his weapons.
Glad we agree
@@Purple_PP for once finally
8:32 and reused animations from the final kenway fight
Ahhh good point, explains why it was so poor
@@Purple_PP and the same can be said here as well
7:48 "EnGaGiNg GaMePlAy"
FINE! ill accept the fact that the remastered got slaughtered for not having a consistent frame rate, but cannot believe the first part of this! Let me explain.
In AC2, you bought shops, in AC Brotherhood, Rome got destroyed by the attacks. So it made sense for you to be rebuilding the place, in revelations it made a little bit less of sense as there wasn't really an attack for you to be repurchasing/rebuilding shops. AC3 was actually the first one of these things to be genuinely unique as it involved missions that are more engaging to the player.
Ac4 actually required you to do something unique as well by rescuing pirates, freeing taverns and mostly just collecting treasure out in the high seas.
In AC rogue, it just felt like I was playing a b-Tec version brotherhood again as there was no real reason for me to renovate these things again, as I've already done that before in previous games.
There was nothing here. That's really unique or said this came apart, or at least theres nothing that isnt annoying or highly useful to you.
So, for you to say this all engaging game play is really stupid.
You can’t take one aspect of the gameplay in something completely minor like city renovation and use that as an example of a whole system being bad. We got stalkers that kept you on your toes on the feet, ships attempting to board you which added to naval battles, a great toolkit, overall everything I did in rogue minute to minute was fun and ENGAGING
@@Purple_PPliberation missions that give you rewards, recruits with unique activities, Peg leg with excellent climbing activities with climbing, and plenty of naval missions with it also having its on storyline, isn't that also ENGAGING
No
3:33 "in the brush"
When in a bush.
And english isnt my first language?
Brush
n.
1.
a. Dense vegetation consisting of shrubs or small trees.
Try harder
@@Purple_PP fair enough
3:53 "before this game, i would've told you that making me stop in place in an ac game is bad but now im wrong"
So that means you take back all you said about the liberation missions frim ac3? Thank you.
Nope absolutely not, stopping me to immerse me in the world with the first genuinely interesting enemy in the ac series is in no way equivalent to the garbage system ac3 had
@@Purple_PP interesting? Fine. Fun Hell no.
4:14 "if they were around before i dont remember"
Then i guess you mustve completely forgot about revelations' then... but I feel like thats where they peaked, not too much but not too little either.
The stalkers in revelations may have shared a name but that’s really where similarities end, they were a button prompt not a significant challenge
@@Purple_PP fair
4:02 "reusing the mp compass is great!"
You mean the one which shouldve actually been in this fucking game? And one of the key components of this game now, and its just not being the game now because...
"This game was developed in a short time, they cant do multiplayer!"
If this legitimatly was, then fine, but id rather let that mode die out than remind me of where it went.
Rewrite this in English because I’m legitimately struggling to read this
@@Purple_PP they used something from the multiplayer (mp) which should have already been in the game, for something else that's annoying
But this was developed in a short time, so I'd rather just the the glorious mode die out, than see it be "revived"
11:40-11:44 earrape
My French accent is wonderful
@@Purple_PP you should've voiced arno
I was asked to, scheduling conflict
9:05 you're definitely reading between lines that aren't there, this game shouldn't have existed, as all it does is kill off some our favourite characters, show us the boring part of a potential 7 year war, and admittedly gives us some more haytham, but immediately downplayed by Shay Patrick Cringe, aka mr. Luck
I don’t really understand why you leave timestamps that are irrelevant to the comment you leave but go off
@@Purple_PP it's always right at the end, it's meant to be immediately after, but I can see why it's confusing
4:24 "The gameplay here is what makes it sooo goood!"
You mean making ac4 annoying?
Also, since there's no better place to put this, I'll address the biggest reason as to why the stalkers are the worst thing to add to this game.
Say you find a stalker in a bush, or no sorry in a bRush with your eagle vision, unlike in the mp where you can jump in, stake the entire bush and pull out the victim and lay them out; here you CANT! Instead of repurposing all the unique stuff in the mp (multiplayer) they dump out the rest and only leave certain bits, making it a complete and utter mess! Or say you found one in a cabin/closet, there's no unique animation for grabbing them put the closet and throwing them down.
Meaning that theres no way to actually strike at them if you've alr found them, making this a FAILURE in game design.
So they force you to actually interact with your environment in a unique way despite a lack of time to create a unique system? Good for them
@@Purple_PPfine, I guess I just didn't know about the short time frame for this game, but it seems like a huge oversight to not kill in their hiding place
I’m having trouble verifying it but the time frame I’m aware of is 9 months to build rogue, which in comparison to the usual dev time on an ac game is incredible
1:38 "the gameplay in this game is worth talikng about, and its fantastic!!!"
Really? You mean the exact same gameplay that we got in ac4? Cool.
Yeah my favorite combat system got expanded on, Twas great
@@Purple_PP the exact same combat in ac3 then
0:30 "solid 60fps all the time with no dips"
Was the ac3 remastered seriously so butchered that you'd never get 60 fps??? Or was there just always problems with that garbage? And if there was, do you see why I'm fuelled with rage when this the "OnLy" way to play ac3?
Just in general the pc ports for ac are poor, brotherhood was a standout for terrible optimization and black flag took a mod to run correctly
7:44 "the plot is unbelievable but still fun"
Huh, but in your unity vid you said that narrative matters more. So this entire damn story can be just broken down into this one point here, making the entire story fall apart and collapse in on itself, yet that didn't detract at all for you? Interesting.
I am generally narrative focused but I’m willing to acknowledge that most gamers are not and it’s perfectly fine to have a game that’s just fun to play. You’re right though I could have gone harder on the story, you might be surprised to see where rogue lands in my best and worst of video(which is actually already finished before you accuse me of changing my opinion when you see it)
@@Purple_PPand I'm alr expecting ac3 to be garbage tier
Spoiler alert but most of my worst of categories didn’t contain ac3
7:54 eh, i don't really like watching movies thst much, ill pass. Again
Speed 2 cruise control is a cinematic masterpiece that should be studied as the yardsticks all visual media will be compared to
5:19 "nice title drop"
OMFG!!! What about ac3's amazing title drop! The music is amazing there, and you fail to say ANYTHING about that!
The music there was clunky, so weird and not worth it!
I had a hard time fitting the ac3 title drop into the conversation of that game naturally, it was fantastic but it didn’t really signify the start of the game like the title drop usually does, considering it wasn’t even Connor who got it. Saying one thing is good is not an indictment on another
@@Purple_PPpoint being the music here is not as high as ac3
1:51 "reused animations are absolutely fine"
I alr larped you for this before, but i still cant believe that you legitimately believe that reusing animations are good game design... but if you like these animations you like where they came from, and that means, you like combat from where it came from and it not being boring at all, and i think you know where im getting at...
Again in the context of an extremely short development cycle they clearly used the time they had in all the right places
@@Purple_PP so it was in an incredibly short time then... OK some more of my points my collapse, but still
0:38 "the world never gripped me as much as it did black flag, but i still enjoyed it"
So you like completely INFERIOR worldview/open sea compared to what we've alr got? Cool.
All the time i played through this i just never escaped the felling like I'm just fucking playing ac4 but painted blue.
There were improvements made to rogue in terms of ship combat, I failed to mention enemy ships can board you which is cool, that that with the tweaks and the ice and a faster ship there was some neat stuff there
4:03 "getting caught off guard can be deadly"
This is pathetic and hilarious here: *attempts to show the desync by dying to the annoying af stalkers but it says the real reason why he got desynced was because his ally died*
Likely an enemy that got the better of him.
"The stalker killed--"
Stop it right there! If you intended to make that your point, (which is unlikely now) that debunks the entirety of your whole stalker bs, theyd have no reason to attack an ally or just shay's friend if he got nothing to do with the templars!
Literally what are you talking about? Was this just the wrong time stamp? Because what was shown on screen was absolutely me being killed my a stalker out of carelessness. Idk why it says target died during the death but what I said completely matches what I showed
@@Purple_PPthen couldn't you got gotten better footage of you being killed by the stalkers? Because it looks to me (in that half second window) that someone else died and not you.
Watch it again, I’m chasing my target and the stalker comes off the bench to kill me
