The 60s because some international cups kicked off big time then (Champions Cup, Copa Libertadores, Eurocup) and the WC qualifiers changed (Africa joined in, North America split from South America, more countries started participating) The 90s because Havelange started the proper globalisation of the game: expanded amount of WC teams twice, took WC to USA, took Intercontinental Cup to Japan and YWCs to Australia, Africa, Asia, North America, etc.

Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, Czechia, Switzerland, and Germany play hockey. There's more countries that participate as well. In Canada it is very common for children to enroll in youth hockey. Almost every family I know participates, it is an amazing game.
