Nice comparison - enjoyed the honesty. The charging rate for the EV6 isn’t a misprint. The 800v architecture allows much higher charging rate (less heat) - 10-80% in 18 mins. Bear in mind that the charging network in other countries may be significantly better than the US, climate is different, and journeys are different lengths. The EPA range quoted in the US (206) is odd. It’s advertised up to 265 in the U.K. for example, and most drivers seem to get well over the EPA number. :) Seems like the cars have fundamentally different aims. The Kia is a driver’s car - it even has the flappy paddles for driver engagement. :) The Tesla is the opposite - its ultimate goal is to eliminate the driver, which makes it a bit of an odd mix of dull but fast, IMHO.
Great description of the MYP. It's hard to explain to people how disconnected you feel from the car. It's fast as hell, but is missing all the feedback that makes a car fun to drive.
I have a GT and the low range figure is caused by the strange way the range test is done in the US. In the UK and the rest of the world we quote different figures from WTLP , i.e. 264 miles - I've done about 1,200 miles so far and I get 250 / 290 miles range in actual driving. If you drive at sensible speed you get drastically more range, AND you get to keep your license. Also the GT has a suspension designed to go around corners, and you don't get a CRICK in your neck looking to the side of the steering wheel at a tablet, which is the most ridiculous design I've ever seen.... the GT has a perfect heads up display of course.... the space under the gear selector is perfect for my wife's handbag.... first car to solve that issue lol.
It's not a strange test, this is how all cars are tested, you go slow in a Tesla and your range will also be better, so will it in an ICE car. Crick in the neck? I have never experienced that, love the large screen
Every car now pretty much has a screen in the center for looking at you apple or android car play. Tesla's is bigger and works better. Bogus complaint.
@@ChrisBarnes199 the EV6 has twin screens including a central one that often gets used by me for Apple Carplay, and many other things. When you start up you get a warning message explaining that looking at that screen is dangerous when driving and you have to press a ‘confirm’ button. It is a safety measure. Doubtless the car records that you do so. I occasionally glance to see a band name or whatever, but i don’t drive glued to it. EV6 heads up tells me speed and speed limit right where i need it and my eyes stay on the road.
Agreed with range shortcomings but I’m still way happier than I would be in a Model Y P. The ride is smoother, sunroof, awesome seats, quicker all around. Much more comfortable and quieter. I have a Model S plaid so I’m not anti Tesla.
@Ricky-mo6mv I keep hearing the word hot and cool... but it seems like the tesla is wayyy cheaper, has a charging network, glass roof, longer range almost same performance, auto pilot option, cameras, just so much more value.. facts not feelings for me. If you're not first... your last. For me it seems like the very low range in the ev6 is the deal killer
@@videosuperhero100 I suppose that is all favorable for the Tesla, but I tend to agree with others that have said it’s like an appliance on wheels. It just doesn’t have any flare at all. It’s basically something to get a person from point A to point B. It’s essentially just a people mover.
You cannot notice the difference i performance? The other is actual 3.2s in 0-60 and the other is 3.5s* 0-60 (with 1 feet rollout, translating to 3.7s) I've driven both too and the EV6 GT was notably quicker. Especially when accelerated after 60mph.
It charges faster than model Y in the real world. All chargers in Finland (and the rest of Europe) are CCS, even Tesla chargers where you can charge your Kia too :) Plus if you want more range to GT, you can put 19" wheels to gain 60miles+ more range. The 21" really eat the range and the stock tires are quite sticky.
I have an EV6 GT and the range is not abysmal. If you drive halfway normally you can do way better than the EPA rating. I charged my car to 80% yesterday and the range was 222 miles. The last time I charged to 100% the range was 276 miles. It’s a wonderful car.
@@mt2nv1 I’m also going by battery percentage versus miles driven. A couple of weeks ago I drove 105 miles, 100 of which was freeway with the cruise set at 68 mph. I left with 100% battery and got home with 62% battery. Using 38% of the battery to go 105 miles means the total range would be about 276 miles. So yes, I believe the car’s projected range to be quite accurate. By the way, that was mostly freeway miles, it does better around town.
I also get better range than the 206. Not 275+ like you but I'll get 225-235 in normal mode. I've also noticed the car is way more efficient with the assisted driving which I don't understand but I'll take.
That's funny, because my wife wouldn't even go with me to test drive a Model Y, let alone buy one. But she has driven our EV6 to regions where Tesla has no network...
@@amperformance7998 Tesla can use non Tesla networks so it isn't an issue. Ev6 is more expensive, worse range, smaller and should really be compared to a Model 3 but then the model 3 is just better. I'm sure there's reasons to take the EV6 instead but for most people the Model Y is better and it shows in sales figures.
@@lachlanB323 EV6 is cheaper in my country, and many other places. It also drives better, handles better, steers better, brakes better, is quicker, and engages the driver rather than isolate them. All the things that make a "performance" car. On top of that, the EV6 has a better ride, greater refinement, is quieter, charges faster, the warranty is much longer, the real-world range difference is tiny, the EV6 doesn't require thousand of dollars in accessories to compensate for basic missing equipment, and it doesn't look like a week-dead beached whale. Compared to the 3, all the above stuff holds true (with the exception of being quicker as I believe the M3P claims a slightly shorter 0-100 time). But you can then add that the EV6 has a much bigger passenger cabin and far more practical cargo space. The reality is that Teslas are impressive as tech pieces, and if a person chooses their car the same way they choose their phone, then the Tesla may be for them. But the EV6 is a better car. To address the big difference in sales numbers. Kia doesn't build very many EV6s, but they sell every one they make. Kia Australia claims they could double or triple their EV6 sales if they could get stock. Low production keeps the EV6 rare, unique, and interesting. While Teslas are becoming common, bland, and boring. The car of the middle-manager.
@@amperformance7998 You are quite passionate about the EV6. No matter how passionate you are it does not add to it's poor range vs the Y. Tesla can charge on any network.
@@lachlanB323Model 3 dwarfs next to EV6. Can't really compare. Model Y is the closest comparison even tho it has quite alot better trunk and frunk space, but for occupant space they are quite equal.
I had a EV6 GT line and it was a great car. I sold it at a year and got a 7500 tax credit. Nice car but the three things I really wanted it did not have. Tesla supercharger availability and reliability, sentry mode and OTA updates. Had to take it to the dealer for a parking brake update. And on these two, the range alone gives the tesla the win. Too many model y’s out there. Might be interested on a model y redesign or model x…
You shouldn't need to tint it. Tesla should have engineered a proper shade, or offered a cheaper, lighter, quieter, and better insulated steel roof. But those practical solutions aren't impressive online or in the show room.
@@DisloyalOrder3 what are you talking about? Glass is more structural than the dent-able and scratch-able painted roof. Glass roof allows for more cabin head room.
They can’t. Teslas Supercharger network is designed for Teslas 400v architecture. Kia/Hyundai with their 800v system would charge a lot slower on the Supercharger network. Teslas V4 Superchargers address that issue but they are not available yet.
Nice review. I only test drove a 1 year old Tesla MY but really did not like the whole experience especially the suspension but also the interior just didn't cut it for me. Looked like they built an office and put wheels on it. The Kia was an instant hit for me. Thought I would get the heavily discounted GT but decided I'd rather have the extra 50 miles of range and more comfortable seats of the GT-line. Turns out it really rips in Sport mode. You did mention almost all the main differences but one. Not only does the Kia have drive mode choices at your fingertips but also many options for regen braking right in the paddle shifters again right at your fingertips. 0 through 4 then also various auto regen modes depending on which level you were in when you hold down the right paddle to choose auto. It kind of acts like adaptive cruise control but for city driving. If you hold the left paddle it also acts like a brake similar to being in level 4 one pedal. Its really a game changer for me and I don't think I would buy an EV without that feature now. Completely agree though with the limitations of the GT which is why I am happy with my GT-line.
That’s my biggest gripe why are all these companies porting over ice designs interior. Let’s move on to beautiful minimal interior. I hate all the gross buttons and bs
@@bitcoinman9202Because there are still many of us out there who still prefer physical buttons, I hate cars that hide all the important functions of the car in the infotainment system, such as closing air vents or turning climate/heated/cool seats on and off.
@Gjeebs have you tried ceramic tinting on your Tesla to block the heat? I live in Texas and got ceramic tinting prime xr plus which made a huge difference in the summer heat in my model 3.
The best part of this video: "you guys live in the real world...." and "your wife already dislikes you AND you're going to make her wait in the back of Wal Mart for..." For this acknowledgement of the the reviewers world vs. our world in making an informed decision....I'm subscribing. This guy is amazing!
Basically the EV6 isn't a family car. If you're runnin' solo and only around town (mostly home charging) and want the sport...maybe the Kia's the way to go. (But I love my MYP)
Model Y is more versatile. Camp mode. Theater, games, more storage, better overall package. Just keep it in sport mode. And maybe fewer modes but track mode has a LOT of customization. Kia if you want a bit more sporty look. That’s about it.
Very nice how you managed to stay so positive about the Kia with its ludicrous short range (and much higher price)! The Kia would not be a sensible choice.
I Have 202 miles on highway 70-75mph with 21 Wheels, 230miles with secondary 20" Wheels on highways... I also get 270 miles combined with 21.. EPA 206 Is with 21" And on highway...
In Australia, the EV6 is $1000 cheaper than the Model Y, and that's without advanced autopilot or FSD, and before needing to spend thousands on Tesla accessories to compensate for basic features missing in the Y. Neither car qualifies for any incentives. The Tesla Supercharger network really isn't any better (at least in my region) than other networks. You didn't mention the difference in warranty. If you have to finance your purchase (as most people do) for a fairly standard 5 years, the Kia at 7 years will still be under warranty while the Tesla at 4 years may leave you having to pay both for Tesla's abyssmal repair costs AND the car payment. The EV6 does have a Camp Mode, called Utility Mode, that can also serve as a makeshift Dog Mode. In addition, the EV6 also has V2L allowing you to power high-draw appliances while camping. Or even your house in the event of a power outage. Using the WLTP standard, claimed range difference is only about 55 miles, and in a recent Wheels Magazine test, with both cars being driven together in a moderately performance car fashion, the EV6 got much closer to its claimed range, leaving the real world difference at about 50km or 30 miles, not the 100 or so miles you criticise so much. Tesla fans love to go on about how great OTA updates are, the idea that your car will constantly get better with every update. But real world experience is more of a mixed bag. I have lots of devices (phones, tablets, computers, TV, consoles, etc) that get OTA updates and it is rare that an update is an improvement. More likely is I lose features I used to use, or they become more complicated. Simple operations become tied to a cloud service, requiring an account and maybe a subscription. And occasionally the update is more that the hardware can handle, leaving you with a bricked device. Tesla changes its hardware so often, it is only a matter of time before these updates cause problems. Then there are security issues with a connected car, as expressed in the recent problems of Tesla employees sharing photos and videos taken without permission from customers' cars. OTA updates and connected services may add some small convenience, but they also add reliability, security, and privacy concerns. The Model Y may have more cargo space (but the difference isn't as big as Tesla claims as Tesla uses a different measurement standard), but it is not because of better engineering or packaging. It is because the Tesla is a physically bigger car. It is longer, taller, and wider, with longer overhangs. Despite the Model Y's size advantage, the EV6 still manages to be equivalent (or better) in terms of passenger space, while still providing ample cargo space, in a more compact, and more stylish, body. But the EV6's big advantage comes in driving the car. Both are wickedly quick in a straight line, but one-trick acceleration is not what makes a great performance car. Take them both onto a mountain road with real-world worn pavement and difference in their chassis stands out. Quoting that Wheels comparison, "The Model Y may be riding on a new (comfort) chassis tune, but mid-corner bumps still send the body bucking and corkscrewing well below the posted speed limit." "Super sharp steering...makes the Model Y feel nervous and unsettled. The steering is prone to rack-rattle and there's a dead spot on centre." "A sighting run in the EV6 GT had me questioning if the road was as treacherous as I'd remembered, such was the Kia's composure...(it) was magic on our back-to-back road. It's steering is calmer and more consistently weighted. Useful information about the surface and grip make its way through the wheel." "Where the Model Y is rolling, yawing, and all at sea, the EV6 GT is encouraging you to start powering out of bends...It leaves the Model Y Performance floundering in its rear-view mirror." "With the Model Y Performance, Tesla has made a very fast and technology-packed car. Kia, meanwhile, has made a true performance car out of the EV6."
I forgot to add that the reviewer commented on Kia's blind spot monitor. Then mentioned that the Tesla has a similar feature following the update. This is true, however the Kia's implementation is far better. The Tesla displays your blind spot low on the centre screen, directing your gaze in exactly the wrong place for lane changes/parking. The Kia displays the blind spot view on the instrument panel, high and near the driver's line of site. Meaning you can see the display in your peripheral while checking your mirrors and blind spot (where a driver should be looking while changing lanes/parking). The EV6 also complements the blind spot monitor with visible warning icons in the mirror, in the instrument panel, and in the HUD. All places where a driver should be looking while driving, not a centre screen.
I would not still buy it because it’s a Kia. I have rented the Porsche Taycan cross turismo 4s for a month, sry the extra 30k over Tesla Model y Peformance is not anyhow worth it.
If it's cheaper in your country, and it should be since they skimped on the batteries, and IF your charge stations are all equal as you say, get the KIA. I find it hard to believe or that there are nearly as many chargers as Tesla. WLTP is always way off from every video I have ever seen them compare and the EPA rating is very close so I think it's going to be 100 miles less as he says. Just say you like the way it looks better or you think you will notice a few tenths of a second 0-60 difference. In the end, it's still a KIA for the price of a Tesla, or more in the US. And does it have any kind of autopilot? You don't have to have FSD to have the best lane keeping and adaptive cruise control and that is free on the Tesla.
@@EVMANVSGAS you may find it hard to believe because in this case reality goes against your assumptions, but it is true that within my region there are far more non-Tesla charging options. My wife regularly makes a trip to visit family in our EV6 that would be impossible for a Tesla owner if they relied on Superchargers. That is not to say this is the case everywhere, and I never claimed it was. I simply pointed out that the assumption you make, that Tesla's network is always better, is simply not true. I also found it telling that you doubted my claim, and assumed that you know better what sort of charging options exist in my area, without even knowing where that area is! Next, I too, have heard that EPA range tends to be more accurate than WLTP. But if you had read what I wrote, you would have noticed that I cited a real world test in which both cars were driven together at the same time, on the same roads, in the same manner, and their result showed a difference in range of only about 30mi, not 100. In addition, a recent test I saw reported on The Electric Viking channel had the EV6 GT match its WLTP range, which is significantly more than its EPA rating. Both real-world tests suggest the difference in range is not as significant as the video suggests. My own experience with an EV6 suggests it is entirely capable of achieving its WLTP claim. Yes, in Australia the EV6 does have autopilot capabilities that are broadly equivalent to Tesla's standard Autopilot. However, other markets, like the US, get a more advanced version of Kia's system that is closer to Tesla's Advanced Autopilot (which I believe is an extra cost, eroding the Model Y's price advantage). I am curious for you to explain what you mean by "they skimped on the batteries." While it is still early on the platform, so far there haven't been any broad quality issues, the batteries are holding up well, have more capacity than the MYP battery of similar chemistry, charge faster, and utilise a modular construction that allows for cheaper and easier servicing and replacement. In the end, it is still a Kia for the price of Tesla. And that's only a problem if you're the sort of person who cares more about the badge than the car.
Gjeebs- Just wait until your kid gets to be 2 or 3. They’ll have you looking through the Tesla roof daily. My daughter loves pointing out all the fun things she gets to see from back there.
Specific for USA. Here every 50 km or faster there is a 350 kw charger and it always works. Also you can use all Tesla chargers with a non Tesla. Lots off people talk about the range, but I can charge everywhere in 18 minutes. But what I do not want is to buy the top model for speed and that a Kia is faster on traffic lights. 😂😂
Your humor is what makes this channel stand out! I could find details, comparisons, dry facts at other Tubers. But your personality combined with the valuable information is a unique mix. Here is one example of what I mean: 19:34 “Looks like a Ferrari 458…” 19:39 “It has an exotic look..” I suspect that while filming, you weren’t sure if the Ferrari comment would make it to the final edit, so decided to end that thought with the “exotic look” version of a sentence. Then ended up using both, because the Ferrari comment was just too funny and genuine to be left out. When you film yourself, your thoughts and comments just flow out of your mouth without thinking twice (like GoPro is garbage) I can only imagine how many jokes you make while filming, that never makes it the final product so we can’t see it because they are inappropriate or would hurt somebody’s fragile feelings. My guess is that a 10-minute video you end up posting makes you produce 25 minutes worth of footage with jokes that never makes it to the video that gets posted. Anyway, I love the channel, keep up the great work!!
At 18:40 in… this rant is everything I’ve been saying. My wife is not going to deal with the CCS charging BS, especially on a road trip home from Disney after having walked the parks for several days and having to get up early for work the next day. 😂
Those bucket seats are beautiful and I hear they are actually quite comfortable. Tesla needs to step their game up. That Kia is faster off the line. Come on Elon.
It’s also smaller, more expensive, less reliable, riddled with problem, can’t pre-condition the battery for fast charging and had a shorter battery warranty. I think teslas doing fine.
@@FireballYT no no. Pre-condition for a paid charging. In the Tesla if you tell it you’re going to a rapid charger it starts pre-conditioning the battery for that task. You can’t do that in an EV6. And there are still a lot of petty issues coming out of the EV6, even today. And some of them were not so petty. Causing the car to stop mid trip and not turn on. As recent as 5 days ago there was a recall of EV6’s up to the 2024 model due to a fault which prevents the battery from charging. Funnily enough this was a software issue. And kia boasts that the Kia EV6 has over the air updates and could have fixed it that way but hasn’t. Meanwhile teslas receive updates every couple of weeks, if not more. Another problem with the 2024 Kia earlier in the year was a fault with the ICCU which causes damage to the unit and stops the 12V battery from charging that was announced in a recall. Which, sadly, isn’t the first time they’ve recalled cars for faults with the ICCU. This fault can cause the car to shut off unexpectedly even while driving. And not turn back on. Don’t get me wrong. They’re getting better. The rate of problems are slowing and it’s a huge learning curve for Kia. But I am not naive enough to think that kia can catch to teslas 12 years of EV design experience in a single car, first time. It’s going to take them years. Be prepared.
@@FireballYT and FYI, not preconditioning the battery for fast charging can result in increased battery degradation and slower charging speeds. Incase you were wondering. And no. Driving around to warm up the battery is not pre-conditioning the cells for rapid charging:
@@FireballYT and look. In fair play, kia might have a reason for not using OTA’s. According to US regulatory bodies, OTA updates count as fault recalls. So officially Tesla has more recalls than any other car by some 1,200%. But if you look at the details it says it’s if those recalls are things like “adding Disney plus to infotainment system”. So maybe Kia is steering away from that. Infact I can only see a record of one OTA on Kia’s website to allow the car to add chargers as a waypoint in their onboard navigation. Outside of BYD, Kia has the best competitor to Tesla. But I wouldn’t say it up there yet.
I believe the Kia charges faster than the Tesla. I have a 50 amp charger in my garage and my Kia EV6 charges from 20% to 90% in around 4 hours. At Electrify America maybe 35-40 minutes for the same charge. I've had other performance cars such as a C7 Corvette that had similar range. The Tesla is better if you are looking for the best bang for the buck. The Kia is better for performance and build quality. Neither is a great road trip car. Model Y's are everywhere. I mean I just got back from a drive and there was a Model Y in front of me. When it turned it revealed another Model Y was in front of it.

I appreciate the review. I mainly curious about the ride quality difference with the 21's. I looked at the Kia and was very impressed with the fit and finish, but in the end I'm leaning the other way because of the range, and the lack of CCS DC quick charging in my area. Thanks again.
@@bitcoinman9202 I do own a Kia, a 2021 Stinger GT2 with a twin turbo V6 ICE. Twenty-eight thousand miles on it and so far no problems. Nice car. Was pleasantly surprised to see it had HW4 and the new LED Matrix headlights. Picked it up in Mount Kisco, New York and made the 358 mi trip back to Buffalo fast-charging once near Elmira New York.
I really want to love the EV6 GT but too many compromises for the price. Love the looks, love the interior but it's just not competitive to Tesla right now.
That range difference is what kills the EV6. Kia should focus on that instead of focusing so much on track performance. Nobody is taking their EVs to the track.
I personally purchased the EV6 GT-Line AWD because of the range difference. I've only had it for a month. Given that I have a charger at home, I don't understand range anxiety. Took a trip from South Carolina to Virginia and back, only uncomfortable moment was making sure I got to the free EA charger. There were plenty of other chargers that could have been used in between on the major highway.
I have the EV6 Wind AWD. Its rated at 320 hp and 283 miles of range. But in ECO mode on Level 3 Regen braking, I average about 320 miles of range. In the GT, if you're driving at max speed everywhere, yeah, you'll get that range. But in everyday, bumper to bumper rush hour traffic, there's no need to crank the power all the way up. I'm sure you can squeeze far more range out of it. PLus its a performance electric car. The same thing happens with BMW sports cars. You get about 200-220 miles a tank because they drink so much gas.
I can't bring myself to own a car whose exterior looks like an egg and interior looks like a cheap prison cell. Not even getting into the build and ride quality.
People say Tesla does excellent with what's underneath, but the battery degradation seems steep to me. 10% in the first year/15k miles. EV6 owners are seeing 1-2% max, even 2-3x further out.
@@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews it’s an indication. Also a new BMS is worth more than a transmission. Warranties are a version of putting your money where your mouth is. If you can’t afford the cost of replacing the warrantied part at the rate it fails. You done make the warranty.

I'm sure it's so fun to drive but 200 miles it's just not it same thing is gonna be with Ionic5N, it's gonna be amazing weapon but with 200 miles of range it's just difficult to choose especially at the price point
The glass roof is cheaper than a metal roof and gives much more headroom. Plus the glass roof can be installed at the end so they have access to the car interior during manufacturing. I doubt Tesla will make an all metal roof feature. I have had mine for a year and still look out the roof all the time even with the shade in place. I agree it lets the car get hotter but the hvac cools it fine.
No one is 3.7 with 1ft rollout it’s 3.5 and that is myp. the Kia is 3.2 with no rollout don’t need one in fact all the way down the battery pack you can pull a 3.2 until you under 50% soc after that it’s 3.4 3.5
@@bigdi77 Thank you for that. Yeah, I know Tesla uses the 1 ft. rollout when stating the 0-60 times. It's cool that Kia doesn't do that. In fact, Hyundai & Kia are really knocking it out of the park with their designs & engineering.

Charge ports like gas ports should be on the left. Why should the driver have to walk around the car to plug in the charger? Does it condition the battery as you approach the charger? How good is the BMS?
Weve owned four (yes four) Model Ys. Test drove a used EV6 GT on a whim today and it melted my face, fixing all the things that drive us insane about the Tesla. Firmer, more supportive seats, WAY better suspension, operable sunroof, actual auto wipers, useful gauge cluster and HUD, Android Auto, has V2L, and doesn't look like an overinflated pool toy. The fact that Tesla still isnt providing V2L is shameful and ridiculous. As a second enthusiast vehicle, seems pretty unbeatable to me.
Glad you mentioned the Tesla software. I think not enough people consider that! It’s a HUGE advantage for Tesla. On the glass roof, I love it and would never give that up, but I do live in the North East. Instead of a metal roof option, an auto sunshade would be fantastic!
At 1:08 right off the top. Somebody please explain why in the world a ‘frunk’ is ‘so important?’ It’s a gimmick. The Tesla Y interior is cavernous. What possible reason would a drunk matter?

The Ioniq 5 is still a totally awesome ride though, will be missed till they come out with a NACS adaptor (and make it work better at 400 volt fast DC charging on the Tesla Version 2 & 3's) and open it up to Tesla Supercharging!
Not accurate, I helped a friend wire his home charger and we did a speed run right after. Both my EV6 GT and his Model YP were at 80%, I pulled on his every run of the 7. And we know at top speed, 161 > 155. Both are no comparison to my Plaid S but the GT is more nimble in the hills too.
The Tesla is more than $6k cheaper, you're forgetting about the $7500 tax credit you get with it. So more like $14k cheaper. You can do a LOT with that $14k to make the Tesla stand out and upgrade the things you don't like.
I went the lease route on my EV6 GT to get the $7500 rebate. Apparently, the dealer gets the $7500 credit on leases, and Kias current promo passes those savings to the lessee. Not ideal for me but it was better than forking over full msrp.
I got $5k off msrp + $3750 rebate, even then Tsla would have been $10k cheaper but I’m tired of seeing so many jelly beans on the road and I’ll pull away from every Y all the way to top speed. Worth the difference for a better car all around. I plug in nightly at home for 100% power so range is a non issue. Even for 200+ mile trips to Tahoe and LA, 1 to 2 stops, nice leisure breaks.😊
The EV6 has a camp mode. It is the Utility mode.
I bought the EV6 GT a few months ago and have been having the time of my life. 0 regurts

@2:30 EV6s have "camp mode" it is called utility mode and they also have V2L
And it has more range than 206
@@gregthompson7954yeah definitely, the GT more like 260 miles, the EV6 RWD has like 320 miles.
How is the road noise and confort between the two. I rented an ev6 and it was so quiet, and the ride quality was soo smooth.
Seems like the cars have fundamentally different aims. The Kia is a driver’s car - it even has the flappy paddles for driver engagement. :)
The Tesla is the opposite - its ultimate goal is to eliminate the driver, which makes it a bit of an odd mix of dull but fast, IMHO.
Love that comparison, you are so right
Great description of the MYP. It's hard to explain to people how disconnected you feel from the car. It's fast as hell, but is missing all the feedback that makes a car fun to drive.
@@bfranks77 And it looks super dorky
If you get 19” wheels on the EV6 GT you can squeeze 230-240 miles out of it
I have a GT and the low range figure is caused by the strange way the range test is done in the US.
The EPA is a US government organisation, nuff said
@@ChrisBarnes199 the EV6 has twin screens including a central one that often gets used by me for Apple Carplay, and many other things.

The other is actual 3.2s in 0-60 and the other is 3.5s* 0-60 (with 1 feet rollout, translating to 3.7s)
I've driven both too and the EV6 GT was notably quicker. Especially when accelerated after 60mph.
It charges faster than model Y in the real world.
All chargers in Finland (and the rest of Europe) are CCS, even Tesla chargers where you can charge your Kia too :)

@@TurreTuntematon I'm glad that you have tested both and you can make an evaluation between both!
Where did you test drive the GT?
@@speksih Yes, I’m glad about that as well.
I have an EV6 GT and the range is not abysmal. If you drive halfway normally you can do way better than the EPA rating. I charged my car to 80% yesterday and the range was 222 miles. The last time I charged to 100% the range was 276 miles. It’s a wonderful car.
You going off what the computer says?! Lol
Totally fair appreciate this insight
You hit the nail on the head with the wife not wanting Road Anxiety 🤣 Give me my Model Y any day for a retiree 😊.

Might be interested on a model y redesign or model x…
yes, too many Model Y'sout there. I'm thinking of a preowned Tesla X
Love the glass roof personally You can always tint it for UV protection
You shouldn't need to tint it. Tesla should have engineered a proper shade, or offered a cheaper, lighter, quieter, and better insulated steel roof. But those practical solutions aren't impressive online or in the show room.
The glass roof is so much more expensive to fix when damaged and doesn't really add much to the driving experience. A regular roof would be better.
@@amperformance7998no. I love my sons clearer roof. Why tiny it more unless your sensitive. We get it. You hate teslas…

100% facts!
Both every nice cars. Kia does have nice packages. They need to switch to the tesla charge network and they would be my 2nd pic.
The suspension is way better now then one year ago.
EV6 Regen break solves my traffic problems

Basically the EV6 isn't a family car. If you're runnin' solo and only around town (mostly home charging) and want the sport...maybe the Kia's the way to go. (But I love my MYP)
The GT isn't exactly a family car, the other EV6s are.

Lol 18:44. Good review bro. Subbed
Excellent analyses

19:34 “Looks like a Ferrari 458…”
19:39 “It has an exotic look..”
I suspect that while filming, you weren’t sure if the Ferrari comment would make it to the final edit, so decided to end that thought with the “exotic look” version of a sentence. Then ended up using both, because the Ferrari comment was just too funny and genuine to be left out. When you film yourself, your thoughts and comments just flow out of your mouth without thinking twice (like GoPro is garbage)
I can only imagine how many jokes you make while filming, that never makes it the final product so we can’t see it because they are inappropriate or would hurt somebody’s fragile feelings. My guess is that a 10-minute video you end up posting makes you produce 25 minutes worth of footage with jokes that never makes it to the video that gets posted.

It’s also smaller, more expensive, less reliable, riddled with problem, can’t pre-condition the battery for fast charging and had a shorter battery warranty. I think teslas doing fine.
@@engineeringtheweirdguy2103what are you talking about? It can perfectly pre-condition the battery and model years 22+ have all petty issues solved.
I didn’t know the Mint Mobile guy also did car reviews.

@@bitcoinman9202 I do own a Kia, a 2021 Stinger GT2 with a twin turbo V6 ICE. Twenty-eight thousand miles on it and so far no problems. Nice car. I did ended up buying a Model Y Performance, picked it up yesterday, went through the checklist and thankfully there were zero issues at delivery. Was pleasantly surprised to see it had HW4 and the new LED Matrix headlights. Picked it up in Mount Kisco, New York and made the 358 mi trip back to Buffalo fast-charging once near Elmira New York.
@@taraskulykUSA wish they kept the old logo, the new logo makes me feel like they are a evil toy company or something
@@bitcoinman9202 agreed, but my 2021 still has the old logo.
@@taraskulykUSA And what do you think of it so far?
I really want to love the EV6 GT but too many compromises for the price. Love the looks, love the interior but it's just not competitive to Tesla right now.
That range difference is what kills the EV6. Kia should focus on that instead of focusing so much on track performance. Nobody is taking their EVs to the track.
@@jpizel1070 not just range. No tax credit, no access to Tesla superchargers.
@@bnd123us : if you are in the US, just use the lease loophole.
My biggest issue is it is UGLY AS HELL inside and out
Dude your wit is top notch. Respect
Let's not fool ourselves, tesla wins all the time.
Yep, and it’s not even close
18:44 "Your wife allready doesn't like you!" Great review by the way but that line killed me hahaha
It's kinda true lol. Wife hate speed, makes them nauseous especially if they're not driving
What a great line and spot on review!
I would still choose the tesla😃
I can't bring myself to own a car whose exterior looks like an egg and interior looks like a cheap prison cell. Not even getting into the build and ride quality.
@DisloyalOrder3 Bro, you're right. The interior looks like a Scandinavian prison 💀
TESLA ALL THE WAAAAAAAAY!!!!
Tesla is garbage on wheels
Yeap me too,Tesla Os system similar to Apple with Apps, and also the National, and international Charging Network.
People say Tesla does excellent with what's underneath, but the battery degradation seems steep to me. 10% in the first year/15k miles. EV6 owners are seeing 1-2% max, even 2-3x further out.
Tesla has a much longer battery warranty than the Kia EV6. So do with that what you will.
@@engineeringtheweirdguy2103 Jeep offered lifetime powertrain warranty in 2010. Included with purchase. Grand Jeep Cherokee. Most reliable ever?

3:30 😂 My wife and boys gets to enjoy the glass roof more then I do but I still enjoy the glass roof when in Basic AP. Can't wait for Fall/Winter to take off the Halo Black Roof Screens. 😂🎉
I noticed your Model Y Performance panoramic glass screen cover, not reinstalling the Otrifowd Fullshade retractable? I should have my version 2 Otrifowd Fullshade retractable in 3-4 days! Just love Tesla for all those accessories you can get!
When you mention the price comparison, you failed to mention the Y is eligible for the $7,500 IRA tax rebate - a HUGE plus.
Hey Gjeeps! Love your videos. I’m a new Model Y owner living in Phoenix also. Do you have a recommendation for a roof shade? Thanks!
This one and code Gjeebs will save 10%: www.vion.parts/products/model-3-y-roof-sunshade
Or this is a more expensive option: ruclips.net/video/rK_9d54y-qU/видео.html
Gjeebs will you ever upgrade to a insta 360 x3 camera instead of using a GoPro ?
That's actually a good idea. I'll look into it
I will buy a Tesla when it comes to EV , especially the Cyber truck 😊
As much as I like EV6 gt over tesla in uniqueness alone because I see teslas everywhere but I have yet to see ev6gt and I live in the busy city, I just can't justify 200 mph range especially for $61K plus taxes and markups. I'm sure it's so fun to drive but 200 miles it's just not it same thing is gonna be with Ionic5N, it's gonna be amazing weapon but with 200 miles of range it's just difficult to choose especially at the price point
Can you buy an adapter for the kia that works on the Tesla charging ports
Yes but you can only use it on a home charger not on a supercharger
@@Gjeebs who ever makes this supercharger adapter first is going to make a killing
So a new Kia compared to an older model Yp.
Got it.
But. According to your video, the Model Y only gets 200 miles per charge anyway
This is a great review. Loving both cars. Quick question on the acceleration. Aren’t they both equal at 3.5 sec to 60?
No one is 3.7 with 1ft rollout it’s 3.5 and that is myp. the Kia is 3.2 with no rollout don’t need one in fact all the way down the battery pack you can pull a 3.2 until you under 50% soc after that it’s 3.4 3.5
@@bigdi77 Thank you for that. Yeah, I know Tesla uses the 1 ft. rollout when stating the 0-60 times. It's cool that Kia doesn't do that. In fact, Hyundai & Kia are really knocking it out of the park with their designs & engineering.
@@alexc6946 even the gt line is pretty quick 4.6 4.5 I got the gt my friend put me on this car he let me drive it I fell in love so I waited for the gt I can’t believe how fast this thing is I got three warnings for speeding.
Charge ports like gas ports should be on the left. Why should the driver have to walk around the car to plug in the charger? Plus start buttons are totally useless and a sign the car is poorly designed by ice car engineers.
Does it really charge as fast in real world?
Don’t forget to get that participation trophy for the GoPro. 😂
Did you say 206 miles range on Kia EV6? Bruh! That’s not acceptable. Hyundai can do better.
My real life range has been 225-235 in normal mode, and shows that range in my car when charged.
"Your wife already doesn't like you" hahaha
Even if its really close at some points. Ev6 GT is kind of sport car . Depend of the way you will use It
yeah the gopro overheating is annoying. maybe if they made a white one it would help a bit 😆
The 6 is a great design. Does it have “pet mode”?
Great video !
is metal cheaper than glass ---- heres your answer ever see a panoramic glass roof on a 90's corolla or camry made cheap but reliable.
19:46 soooo, just Hyundai?
Great with more compelling BEVs, when I tested it (some ordinary version) I was unable to sit in the back
having 2 options for the roof in tesla would increase the production cost
Glad you mentioned the Tesla software. I think not enough people consider that! It’s a HUGE advantage for Tesla. On the glass roof, I love it and would never give that up, but I do live in the North East. Instead of a metal roof option, an auto sunshade would be fantastic!
At 1:08 right off the top.
Somebody please explain why in the world a ‘frunk’ is ‘so important?’
It’s a gimmick.
The Tesla Y interior is cavernous. What possible reason would a drunk matter?
What the Frunk is ON your white Frunk?
Tesla all the way! 💯
The EV6 all the way

Model 3 performance is 3.1s 😎👑
Love that GT6 but the charging life is limited
The Tesla dash is lame. An iPad stuck in the middle of the dash yuck.
Totally dropped my 2023 Ioniq 5 (American Limited equivalent) for not only service issues but the really big issue, that is our long distance road runner "Beep - Beep", dropped it like a hot potato and took delivery of our Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD white on white (love the white on white) could not be more pleased last 4000KM road trip was easy squeezy, just love the Tesla Supercharger network for reliable very fast charging, and just crazy high speed efficiency another thing that Tesla outperforms the EV6 GT.
@@beidlerntoo bad the model 3 performance is quicker than the ev6 GT has more range and more storage space 😉
Kia has utility mode which let's you run the A/C all night. EV6 is 800 volt.
the Tesla just looks so much better than every other car on the road. It's awesome
@beidlern yeah, having a unique car was definitely part of the equation for me too. I've only seen one other GT in the last 6 months.
Ferrari. Lol. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why not mention autopilot and the tax rebate...
