- UFC 300 delivered some of the most exciting fights in recent memory one of them being the devastating finish that Alex Pereira had over Jamahal Hill to retain the UFC Light heavyweight title. Today I am going to be breaking down exactly how that finish came about and why Alex Pereira is one of the best strikers to ever grace the Octagon!

People call Alex a basic striker because they don't see this nuances. His striking IQ is off the charts! The "don't stop, I got it" to Herb Dean because he had the perfect distance and didn't want to reset the fight was GENIUS. Chama!
Chama!! 😂
Alex told in the interview that he got the perfect distance when Herb Dean talked to him.
Thats why he didnt care about Herb or the Kick because he knew that the fight would be over.
I agree with you... Everybody says
Alex is a basic striker
The funny thing is that everyone kiss his left hook lol....
Chama...
Spot on. And take advantage of that millisecond of confusion. Hours and hours and hours of Glory ring time personified.
Chama! ahahaha
Yeahhhh that was very amatuer of herb Dean, even though he didn't stop the fight, from a strike that was to the gut of pereria, and hurt him, but he changed the momentum of the fight by trying to step in. If herb Dean wouldn't have have done that peareria wouldn't have kod jamahal hill at that point. Did I mention it wasnt even a groin shot? This fight was a mess and will forever be tainted.
The nuanced point you made in regards to Pereiras calf kick being used to hold outside positioning while also conditioning Jamal’s brain to think low was genius.
U da man wonderboy 🧠
2 division glory champ.. and people still doubt about it.
It doesn’t matter what your accomplishments are. Styles make fights. Jamahal has a style that should hypothetically work against Pereira.
First round mate! Pereira didn't even break a sweat.
@@TheRealAbraxas Your analysis is as accurate as any layman's. Reality disagrees with you.
2 division
@@gutsoli4213 my bad.. xD
I also love how he pushed his hand down before firing.
He also stepped on Jamahal's foot.
@@oldmedstudent1750 exactly + that small right feint. I was really locked for the kill lol
@@oldmedstudent1750 there's a photo of that. alex's toes look JANKY lmao
Brazil loves you wonderboy! 🇧🇷 CHAMA! 🗿
Jiri vs rakic was a banger too
The real FOTN
Fax, heavily overshadowed by Holloway vs Gaethje tho
@@jirimijirimijirimi Only By Casuals.......
I’d like to see Alex Vs Ciryl Gane if he decides to move up. That could be a very interesting matchup.
I’d pay to watch that
Dana, faça, só faça imediatamente essa luta.
Gane would get pieced up… bad
very interesting, both have kickboxing heavy styles
That would be interesting. I never thought about him.
He is far more analytical than DC 😅
DC spent half a video making excuses for Jamahal
Obviously he understands striking at a higher level but DC's grappling analysis is first class and he does it live during the fights. Even so, DC's role is more color commentary than straight analysis
Fax, he was tryna cover so hard for his brother
DC is american biased, they never said a thing about Weidman Eye Poking Knockout
DC isn't a striker
I saw the foot battle, and knew it was over as soon as Alex waved Herb off! What a stellar striking performance by Poatan!
Best breakdown of the fight in youtube. As somebody who know nothing I still can tell. Only a tru striker can really know whats going on
Wonderboy as Champ>
Honestly if he was champ I feel it would be almost like pereira in the sense there wouldn't be much of anyone who could out strike him, unless they throw something super unpredictable like Pettis, they'd have to grapple to win.
@@jayyy2561and that would be an easy dub bc Wonderboy is allergic to the ufc canvas
Unrelated I saw wonderboy a couple weeks ago just a normal down to earth dude chilling with his family and didn’t wanna bother him eating his sandwich 😂
I can't believe you picked Jamahal to win
UFC fighters are too biased when it comes to picking
To be fair it’s not a crazy pick. Sure Alex is a crazy high level striker but for whatever reason sometimes he just refuses to move his head off the center line. He gets hit most of his fights he just has a great chin. I bet Alex would win but I wouldn’t have been shocked if Hill pulled off the upset by catching Alex.
@@runbho710 these guys are like boxing fans that get territorial when an MMA fighter tries to do a crossover into their sport. But it's weird, kickboxers like Demetrius Johnson and Wonderboy were picking Jamahal too
why not
@@runbho710 the love for underdog
I heard Alex talking about after the fight, he said that when Jamal kicked him in the nuts it was painful and that he couldn’t stop that moment because he was closing and measuring the distance, so he wouldn’t lose the exact moment.
This is gold. Small details make a big difference. Thank you Wonderboy!
Sensacional análise. Parabéns pelo trabalho. Alex Pereira é um "monstro" ! "Chama!"
Alex is part of why we love this sport so much 🙏
This is the best breakdown of the fight I’ve seen so far
This was such a technical breakdown. Great stuff Wonderboy!
Great as always. Thank you Wonderboy!
I found the hand tapping so fascinating. I noticed Jamal started throwing the cross, lead hook or kicks a half beat after Periera had tapped twice but before a third tap, and Periera is an absolute demon to use that tendency to land the hook after pulling away from every other punch. Like some crazy Amazonian knock knock joke.
This was super interesting, more of this please WB
loved this! thank you!
Awesome break down! Thanks Stephen. Very informative! 🤘🏻😎
Thank you for your wonderful video
Super insightful -- love it!
Excellent breakdown! Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing this knowledge, makes me appreciate the fight a lot more 👍
That was a great breakdown. Thanks Stephen.
Bravo! Good stuff!
Great breakdown. Thank you Stephen
Very good breakdown of the fight i learned a lot from this video great video
I've been constantly going to RUclips to see your reaction thanks for posting Woderboy
High level kickboxing seems to be more of a gift at times than wrestling
Fantastic break down. Thank you.
Such a great breakdown!!!
Love your breakdowns. Specially on the striking level. Takes a master to recognize another master
Loves these videos wonderboy! You’re one of my favorite fighters!
Wonderboy come back to next Canada card please
Great breakdown WB.
Dope breakdown appreciate ya!
Love these breakdowns
Great breakdown as always❤
Great breakdown, as always. Your fight IQ is through the sky Brother. I’m down in North Charleston, and hope to make the drive up there soon once I’m healed.
Best wishes to you and your Family/Team, thanks for all your advice and hard work. 🙏💚👊
Love listening to your breakdowns. You’ve made me enjoy watching strikers even more because now I understand what things to look for in there. Once Alex started to slip under the jab and throw body shots I knew that left hook over the top was right around the corner
U seen such a nice guy, Wonderboy! I'll be rooting for you in your next fight, chama!! 💪🏻🇧🇷
Excellent analysis!
Best analysis of this fight I’ve seen so far, no bullshit like Alex stepping on Hill’s foot on purpose, no things like Hill got distracted
Love you wb🎉
clear and solid explanation bro!! hope to see it more!
That is a great breakdown!
Love the breakdown from someone with your experience. It’s cool to see your POV and the fact that it aligns with things i picked up on as well.
A great video bro, i lern a lot from You and help me up grade my striking and MMA 💪 saludos
Ahhhhh? Chama ou não 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Performance espetacular do Poatan
🇧🇷👏🇧🇷👏🇧🇷🔥
Good breakdown, I learnt something..
Wonderboy hair underrated.
Awesome breakdown. We do not even think like this. This is great and made me enjoy it even more on rewatch. Thank you! You da man :)
Such a great breakdown.
Great breakdown. Always good to see a striker's breakdown of highlevel striking. Lot of things that the laymen like myself will miss.
He explained things none of us seen. Nice breakdown.
Gawd dawg this is the breakdown I needed
You speak very well. I'm learning a little English here watching you say interesting things. Thanks!
Great to hear your technical analysis. Pereira was carrying that Street Fighter video game energy into that fight, but there was nuance to his game that could easily have been overlooked. Thank you sir!
Just here. Love to here your break down
Stephen Bro you are doing a wonderful job 👍👍👍
Gah lee, you were on point with this break down...i re watched the fight and started actually watching their limb movements. Now i know they arent just circling eachother... thanks for opening my mind
Only an elite fighter like you sir can give us such an amazing breakdown of this sequence!
Great breakdown. Another nuance is that he stepped on Hill's foot before throwing the hook to prevent him from evading. I thought that was very sneaky and slick
Best breakdown!
wow one of the best striking breakdown
I figured you'd be talking about Max's awesome Wonderboy style spin kicks to the body! Such an amazing card.
Loved the live, wb please come back to Canada!
Alex is so good at setting up his headshots with the body jabs in every fight
Nice break down brother
About time !
interesting video Bro... you seem like a good guy!! Enjoy ur life!
Our real life superhero "wonderboy" 💪
You're the man !
Best breakdown.
Love your channel and your fighting man someday gonna get the money to come down and have you teach me some kicks! Let a man dream. Hope you have a good day wonderboy
Hi Stephen, Great video. Are you able to let me know what PC case you have in the background there, very cool!
Great analysis! Additionally, Pereira also stepped on Hills foot right before the hook, so that Hill couldn´t escape
Great breakdown wonderboy. I caught the leg movement but didn’t catch the tap on the lead hand.
Great insight about the feet
Love technique Twednesday ❤
The guy is incredible, a couple more fights like this and no one will want to fight him
At the 8 minute mark, I nearly got KO'd. That left hook was swift.
Love you wb, hopefully you’re at the expo during international fight week.
Awesome breakdown Stephen. One more thing I noticed and it could just be me, is that right before the delivery of the knockout blow it appeared to me as if Alex actually caught Jamahal's jab, pulled and guided it away and then fired! Awesome, awesome technique!
He also stepped on Jamahal's foot, locking him in place.
We are watching two naked men brawl, whilst Wonderboy watches a 3D chess game. Great vid champ, keep em coming!
Thank you Stephen. You give casuals like me so much insight. It feels like a hack that shouldn't be allowed without the gym hours, lol
Saludos desde Paraguay!, chico maravilla!
Petition to have Wonderboy be a UFC commentator!
Those were some amazing breakdowns. I did not even think about a lotta the things that Alex was doing before the KO. Only thing I noticed was the strikes to the body. He did the same with Strickland before knocking him out.
One would think Hill would have noticed and not fell for it.
Alex + WB = Great minds think alike
Pushing someone’s arm across their chest to disrupt the power hand wow… fighting is so much fun to learn (especially when learning from Wonderboy 🙏🏽)
Imma use that next time e
As soon. As I saw that stare down I was like "Alex is about to eat his dinner"
Alex also stood on Hill’s foot just before the KO.
As Alex said to Oliveria pre-fight, his hands were calibrated lol
bro love your videos, also wanna see you ko someone this summer
Thanks Wonder! Can you also breakdown max Holloways distance and feints to close the void please 🎉
Alex had some nasty checks too
That Kamaru punch was perfect lol
Wonderboy bust dat thing down word
