I have wanted to build a display like this for over 10 years now (with Arduino), but these products are so much easier and end up costing less than the parts would. Between you and Disk Cart teasing me with these videos, I am going to end up buying one soon...
It's funny you mention that, this is (in some ways) similar to a display item I've wanted for like 20 years, lol! It's in no way an essential item, but I did enjoy messing with it much more than I expected. The price to value ratio is a subjective topic. In build quality and how featured the app is I can see it being worth the purchase, but in terms of usefulness, I'm not as convinced, if that makes any sense. They seem to have frequent, but small, discount promotions for these on Amazon, so keep an eye on it.
I didn't think I'd ever be into these kind of things myself but I'll admit, it does look pretty cool and I'm definitely tempted lol. Really good video by the way.
@@show-me-retro For sure. I initially thought I'd like the standard Pixoo more. It's more modest and 'chunky' and represents 8 and 16 bit sprites very well. I thought the Max was overkill. But after seeing all the types of animations that are better shown on the Max, I've certainly changed my view.
@@TopSpot123 i appreciate the video, I must have been living under a rock not knowing these existed. I may do a brief video on the max, I will reference your video if that's ok
Of course, not a problem. If you haven't already, you may play around with the app. Search for certain video games. There's a wealth of content on it. I'm saving my favorites to my phone because you know how uncertain the future of services can be.
I bought the pixoo after seeing your review, very thorough! I have a question about the visualizer, it is always reacting (although very lightly) even when there is no noise. Is this normal? Or is my device faulty? Hope you can help me out.
I just messed with mine and it seems to be the same. It seems it's always picking up a little background noise on the low end. I went to the quietest place I could and it was still there, but slightly. But it was very reactive to any noise I made, so the mic just seems to be very sensitive. Hope this helps!
@@TopSpot123 thanks for your reaction, guess it's normal then. Won't go trough the hassle of returning. Besides this little flaw it is a fun little device. A very nice addition to my gameroom.
I love divoom ive been buying their products ever since they released their first speaker my only bummer is that my pixoo broke 6 months after i bought it and their aftersales is non existent.
Do you think this could hold up to a 5 and 7 year old girl probably manhandling it a bit or are they really delicate? My nieces would love this and it’s creative, I’m more concerned on how durable they are. Thanks man
Okay--the review was very well done--but clearly what won me over the most was your usage of Mario Paint templates for this--that is awesome!!
Thanks! It's always nice to have a little previous experience.
he sold me with kirby
@@KitLoverb Pink puff glowing goodness? Who wouldn't be sold?
This is not a review, but in reality it is a better review than 90% of the “real” reviews out there. Great Job! Liked and subscribed.
I really appreciate the kind complement. I feel I have a responsibility to give good information and I try my best, so thank you.
This product seems pretty cool. It looked right at home on your game shelf.
I was really pleased with how it fit perfectly.
Wish I could recycle my old iPad with a dedicated case and a software that emulate the Divoom pixoo in 32/64/128 etc. Pixel.
Thanks for the Vid!
I love that idea!

Very cool! But can you help me with hooking it up via Bluetooth? Please let me know, thanks!

Thank you! The community sure has made a lot of cool animations.
No lie. Ordered mine immediately after seeing this just now almost 3 am. Lmao. I get it today around 10-11 am. Can’t wait
Pretty nice, I have a feeling it is a thing one might not want to buy but would be happy getting it as a gift
That is an excellent comparison.
I finally found your videos again after several years!
Welcome back!
That tease at the end has me really excited to see what you have in mind. Looking forward to it!
Thanks! But don't get too excited, it's a pretty humble thought.
I like this, very cool and reasonable priced. I might have to get one. Thanks for sharing!
It's a nice attention-getter. Thanks for watching!
@@TopSpot123 i think i may get the Max... it's twice the price but double the pixels is tempting

I have a question, this isnt biased towards the device due to advertisement or free product?
I just bought this for my soon to be 8 year old. I hope she likes it.
I've been wanting one for awhile! Thanks!
No problem, thanks for watching!
I’m trying to figure out how to have the time and date show along with the pictures I picked..
Does the device have a speaker or music? And how do i turn it on? (please answer)

Awesome review dude!
Thanks a ton!
I saw you try to add the SMB3 art, can you try and add a character sprite from Final Fantasy 6 (3)? I'd love to have that on my wall.
I'm sure it's possible! And if you search in the app someone may have already done it.
@@TopSpot123 i looked it up a few months back. seems like no one did. But who knows if anyone has tried.

Does it have battery in it
Yes, it runs off its rechargeable internal battery, or you can keep it plugged into USB.
