Not within my reach given my current skills (still learning martillo variations), but very informative and a good outlook on more advanced playing... I'll probably tackle this in a few months... Thanks!!
I play for fun dont remember most rhythm names but you are a good tutor I cannot believe how quick I remembered it.I was like nah I wont be able to do this when the vid started but halfway I could play and keep up. Thank you I'm a new Subbie now
Wow, amazing that you figured that out with the bad editing on the cut audio clip. Initially when I started this video, The rhythm you were playing sounded so complex. But by the time I finish watching your video I was able to understand how to approach this difficult rhythm. Great interpretation and analysis. And also excellently conveyed. Brilliant presentation. Thank you.
Well, I have to be honest. My girlfriend said that Giovanni made constantly the same move in the background and that is when I found out that it was constantly the same cut and video.... But I am glad that you like it. Have fun with this loop!!
Uff I alredy started playing it together with Diablo and Temperatura and it sopunds so good! Thank you Michael. Ypur tutorials are so great and I have learned so much! I do not know if maybe you have some variations for reagge. It is a rythm that I feel curious about when I started playng the bongos. Like I already have an intuition about it but maybe I could alwys learn something new.
Always when I listen to percussionists in Reggae, they seem to play so freely. I seldon hear them play a basic rhythm. In two weeks I will explain a reggae rhythm for congas on my Patreon channel and I will add Play Along videos. Perhaps I will make a bongo reggae rhythm too. I wish you all the best!
Strong relation of the golpes with the clave. Always fall on the same place. And you should talk about the strong sound of Mr Romero, very important thing.
Nice Catch! I did the edition and you have reason it's not a perfect loop, thanks for your video!! I gonna add your link on the description, Maravilloso!
hi michael....i´m the person who asked you about this movement (not sure if from this account or another "cisgomtube" i´ve got!)...some years ago! lol! time flies! i didn´t know about the Ray Romero bongo loop video but i have just seen it and it´s definitely wrong....i just had the original Giovanni´s video and that´s where i first saw Ray Romero and got impressed about the movement. That´s why i asked you to analize it. Well, thank you very much indeed for this video. I have to thank and congratulate you for your great job here in youtube. Mucho "Aché pa ti", and get ready for my next suggestion hahahaha...just kiddin´! thanx again my friend!!!
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but so far I have not found any vid's that plainly state where the grooves are relative to clave. Do you have any advice on this?
I made one video about the different claves. I don't know if you are looking for that, but perhaps it can help you. ruclips.net/video/96tyCj7PCz0/видео.html I wish you good luck.
@@derbeno thank you for your reply. I made the mistake of looping the last part of his video @ 18:50 and not listening to the beginning where clave and montuno are clear. Silly me.
Pat Davey oh I didn’t know that you did the editing. It took me so long to find out what happened. I think your idea to make a loop out of it, was great!!
@@MichaeldeMiranda I was using your Abakua just today at Trinity Laban. Your channel has helped me countless times. Particularly with the afro/Cuban side of things. I'm really just a jazz drummer/sambista. Thank you and keep up your exceptional work.

It was me who asked Michael to analise the Ray Romero loop.

What type of rhythm would you put this under? Rumba...? Would you play it with any other style? Thank you
I would play son montuno or son or other kind of salsa rhythms under it.
A wonderful lesson as always. Excuse my ignorance. Is this 2/3 son clave?
He started on the second side of the clave
