  • This is far from a technical test, but just thought I'd share my personal test between the two formats. Its important than we know the limitations of our cameras. Yes you should be lighting when you can, thats obvious.

    I've always dug real world testing, it may not be super clinical but I don't shoot clinical stuff, I just need to know where my limits are and how far I can push and pull things based on the situation. Fun times! Thanks for posting.

    But doesn't ProRes crop on the sensor since it's 4k? That means using much wider lenses to compensate...

    • @cammackey

      I didn’t see any crop 🤷🏽‍♂️ must be downsampling the 6k.

    Can you compare the R3d raw with the Canon R5 8K Raw? Particularly dynamic range, latitude, high ISO/low light

  • @RodrigoPolo
    @RodrigoPolo Год назад

    The files for download aren't available… It would be cool a comparison between RED RAW (R3D), Apple ProRes RAW (MOV), Canon RAW (CRM) and the new Nikon RAW (NEV) which uses TicoRAW, reviewing playback speed, amount of simultaneous streams, highlight/shadow recovery, white balance, and of course, bitrate.

    Thanks so much for the info Cam! Your videos are so helpful as I’m saving up to buy a Komodo. Wondering how much more card space you save shooting pro res compared to Raw? Haven’t had any luck finding a record time breakdown/chart online anywhere. Thanks ahead of time!!

    Shots are looking good! Glimmerglass 1 on this? Does it wash out the side of your frame like black pro mist if hard light hits it? I saw they make a matte box only black glimmerglass

    • @cammackey
      @cammackey  3 года назад +2

      No glimmer glass on any of these besides the one of my face. The Hollywood black magic still takes the cake!!! If only they made other filter sizes 😭

    Mike tyson says, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Thats the same as testing and shooting at home where I control everything its always great. The moment I hit the streets, the sun and clouds, my greatness fades and its back home with tail between my legs.

    Hey man first things first I think you rock, secondly would you mind checking if 2K ProRes can be captured at full sensor or if its cropped. And do you have 2K samples? I'm very interested in the filesizes as well. Thanks by the way so much for the example footage for download! Cheers!

    • @NikHem343
      @NikHem343 2 года назад +1

      @@dreamancyfilms I believe I found out that 2K ProRes captures the entire sensor without crop. Went with the FX6, so it’s only a vague memory.

    • @dreamancyfilms
      @dreamancyfilms 2 года назад

      @@NikHem343 Sure? I believe Komodo records 4k ProRes with no cropping. But 120 fps 2k ProRes is cropped. :(

    • @NikHem343
      @NikHem343 2 года назад

      @@dreamancyfilms Hmm then I fear I'm not a big help. Could be the 120fps though, even the FX6 does that at higher framerates, by like 1.3x or something.

    • @dreamancyfilms
      @dreamancyfilms 2 года назад

      @@NikHem343 The FX6 goes from Full Frame to S35 for 120 fps. Probably it's 1.3x. I'm okay with S35, I don't like the Sony texture in general. IMO the best for the price is the Blackmagic Ursa 12k if you're interested in high speed, the problem is that it's not good for low light situations, the Komodo wins with the R3D and it's barely better for low light, the FX6 is extremely good in low light, then there's also the Z cam e2 f6. I believe it always depends on what fits best your filmmaking style.
