This is by far my favorite homesteading channel. Keep up the great work :)
That thing is a beast! It really gets the job done. I think the DR company is great. When I had a farm, I bought a DR trimmer mower, which is basically a heavy duty string trimmer on wheels, and it was amazing for clearing brush and fencelines, but sometimes I wished for a brush mower like this for the heavier stuff. Thanks, DR! Jason is the right person to receive this mower. 👍
So good they sent this machine to yall. Now you have it you can keep things mowed. The first time is the hardest, but the more you do it the easier it will get.
zeke!!!
I've had the DR Power Pro XL 30 for about 3 or 4 years. When I bought a tractor and rotary cutter I thought I wouldn't need my DR power any more but I was wrong. Still use it a lot. One warning, never let your kids or animals in front of the machine when cutting brush. It will shoot chunks of wood out the front in like a rocket. They will travel several yards. Doesn't happen all the time but does happen.
Sooo thankful you have the family and friends around to assist in this new endeavour!!!
Thank you for showing just how tough this is. I have a DR wheeled string trimmer and I love it. I only have 3 acres but it is full of cactus and some kind of either locust or acacia The thorns are murder on all of them. I have been thinking of one of these for the back 2 acres and will do some more research.
Everyday do something! Words to live by thank you Jason
Love Jason’s innovative approach. Always comes up with interesting solutions.
I bought one of the 20 HP models and it's a beast. It will do exactly (actually more than) what the manufacture states. Get the heavy-duty blade option. I ran the heck out of it for three years and never had a moment of trouble with it. Nice to have an American made product that performs as advertised.
True stewards of your land! I have so much respect for all the work you do to maintain an orderly beautiful enriched homestead. Keep up the good work Jason, Lorraine, Penelope, and extended family.
I love that your mother & father-in-law are close to you & Lorine to be part of your dream.
Welcome Brutus! Now lets see what you can do. That machine is a beast but I foresee some very sore leg and arm muscles in your future Jason. It is amazing what you guys have done in such a short time.
farm fit
Looks like a competitor to the BCS! Nice I wasn’t sure how well they worked. Thanks for this video, this might be our solution until we can afford a tractor like your neighbour
Very satisfying watching you use it too!😊
Wow I didn’t even realize a tool like the existed. Thanks for showing us. Definitely seeing if that would work for use especially with other attachments! Thanks Jason!
Woo Hoo! The Mowing King! happy for you Jason :)
This mower is a beast!
Makes me laugh so much how you love new toys 😂😂😂
Thank you for the video. It gave me confidence in the product and I just ordered a PRO XL30 using your link.
Jason, be careful! That thing is bigger than you are. What a great machine!
Just great that a company reached out offering you a tool to demo that really adds to getting your work done…‼️ You work so hard as it is.
Cool aerial shots!!
Wow what an amazing machine !
Once in a while you come across a tool, a piece of equipment that nails it. This is that tool.
May I borrow Brutus? I really could use him. 😄
Yep me 2 😊
Awesome machine!
I have have one horrible word for you, my friend......Goats!
😱
I need you to come over to my house with that mower 😂😂😂😂
Me next, ok?
i think they should give you all the attachments for you to demo--heck we all watch you and i bet some of us will buy due to your demo --i will be honest and say it will not be me but after watching i can recomend to a few freinds who have land!!!
I have a PRO-26 and love it.
Watch out for hornets!
They don't like getting mowed.
Progress.
Awesome work ethics.
🙏👍🌻
Jason-yay for the brush mower but I’ve been praying and hoping John Deere or someone donates you a new tractor.! You and Lorraine work so hard and have so much work, clearing and prep to do you need that donated! You guys work harder and have so much more to do than other channels I watch! Do hear that John Deere????? Lol
Noice!😎 We're right there with you, doing the same thing. Definitely would consider one of those!
🤙 right on bro
Brutus is co cool!
Brutus is great but have you ever considered using goats for clearing that sort of area?? You could use meat goats then you have another "easily butchered" variety of meat that is delicious and can be used much the same as lamb.
I don't. like goat meat. Sheep coming soon
Your working gear should always be first gear. Other gears are for travel. Thanks for the vid might get me one
nice toy!
You can’t beat a Briggs and Stratton motor, it will never let you down!
That’s the bomb❤❤❤❤
I think this is going to progress into you getting some goats to help you out :)
What is the price and where it is available
How thick of brush can it cut
I like Brutus lol
Weeds can be very stubborn. A good weed killer like “Eraser Max” would allow you more time to clear your land.
whata cool machine--so glad they reached out to you cus you really needed the help!!
🥰
😮
So glad DR Power Equipment sent you a brush mower! That should really help with you underbrush up to an couple inches in diameter. Yup, it grows back fast! I like the name "Brutus"! It sounds wonderful! It's kind of like a very mini forest mulcher. Thanks for this video Contreras family!
So glad DR power sent you this bush more it looks like it really help In the name Brutus I love it I can see pigs included paddocks keeping them cleared maybe some goats in the future keeping it cleared And those little structures that I spotted hope you plan to rehab those sometime in the future they will make great Bunkhouses for people attending your classes 🤔🤗
Your videos make me smile everytime. I love your families tenacity and can do attitude!! Love that we all get to watch as your homestead gets better and better!
it means a lot to me that you said that. I do appreciate it. thank you
In my opinion, as one who’s had land like yours to keep up, you need a mini excavator with a mower attachment. That combined with a zero turn mower and a weed whacker, you can keep that place looking like the Biltmore Estate and still have time for other projects.😃👍🏻
in due time
I dont think he needs a excavator, but a tractor,a bush hog, and a tiller, otherwise will need several lifetimes with these little gadgets,
I cleared almost 3 acres with my Dr. It is a beast
heck yeah
how long did that take
That is great you received this brush mower from DR Power equipment. You really did need it and it did a fantastic job on your fence line and pathways. That stuff really does grow back fast. Having this brush cutter is going to allow you to keep it clear without if getting away from you. Thanks for sharing how it works. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Briggs couldn’t have sent this to a better family. If Jason approves…:it’s gotta be good. Briggs please send Sow The Land more attachments so we can see how they work.
yeah, send them a 50 horse tractor and a bush hog,
Maybe some goats and sheep to keep it clear?
stay tuned
Congratulations on receiving Brutus!!!! DR is a great company to work with. May I suggest wearing eye protection. Just in case something flies at you, or when Brutus drives into a bush a branch doesn't poke an eye.
Looks good! I hate clearing fence line. A farmer friend of ours down the road cut his fence line once, then sprayed his fence line with a chemical killer. His fence line is now always cleared. We don't use chemicals at our place so everything is cleared by machine or by hand here.
Oh DR thank you for seeing a need and highly worthy clients Jason and Lorraine. What an amazing machine! It really clears the area brilliantly.
Love the way you can easily lay trails for temporary fencing so your animal can be comfortable and make use if the green vegetation during the summer.
There is nothing better than quality and reliability. DR and Sow The Land have both.
This machine is a BEAST for sure. It's definitely a time saver. I certainly love watching all your videos.
It really is!
Owned 1 since 2000 replaced bearings in spindle (yes I cut some 2.5" blackjack with it) and it is rated for 1". At 67 years old I call it my 15Hp walker.
You should inquire if they have a sulky. A stand on platform with wheels. Back in the 80's & 90's many walk behind mowers had that feature. It's a time saver. Exercise is great but you would maximize your coverage in less time.
It looks like it would work really well in areas where a tractor with a 3 pt brush hog cant get to,like wet area where a tractor might be too heavy.
Nice work! You're right, you have to keep mowing or using animals to keep it all clear. The key is not to let it go for too long;)
What if you happen to hit a tree stump? Is it like a push mower where it will ruin it, ie blades, shaft, etc.
Hello from North Carolina 😊
Hello there!
@@SowtheLand it makes me so happy to see how far you all have come from the beginning of your homesteading journey! I'm proud to have been a fan from the beginning and an 'almost neighbor' since we're all in North Carolina🌄 🤭! Since then you all have remained the same people, you haven't let your fame change the amazing people you are.💝🌟 There's so many who do and it's a shame...Sow, Good for you!! 👏🤩Keep doing what you're doing and Sow many great things are in store for you! 💐🏆
P.S.still waiting for that "Sow the Land" cookbook📘 of all the delicious food🌮🍲🥘🥙🥗🥧 Lorraine makes!😋
I am 60 years old and live in a apartment. I love watching machinery. This tool seems fantastic for your needs. I remember watching you when you had the forestry mulched machine (forgot the actually name) and thought it was incredible. This looks great for your pigs!
I have a big area of ornamental grass that is thick and tall. You think this would work well for that?
As I always comment, love your videos but especially love your music choices that make it top notch!
Glad you like them!
Your lovely wife is going to enjoy this machine she’s going to take it over and kick you off the job!!!!
❤❤
I hope so!
Their equipment is amazing. I had one years ago. A true workhorse. I wished mine had adjustable height handles back then. It's so amazing that I didn't want to stop.
Thats a beast...
Jason don’t put Brutus in third gear because it will drag you for miles. Lol I have never laughed so hard….or……make sure Randy is near to pull you back! Lol
Again. Not MORE BIGGER! You can say properly MUCH Larger but Never More..
You do seem to like and misuse the word 'more' on a regular basis. Why is that?
I just do it to bug you
That Brush mower is a beast!! It was very satisfying to watch it eat up all that brush and saplings!! Such a cool machine!!
I have been looking at these DRs. Watching this, I will buy one now… Thanks
That is an incredible machine! What a blessing you have it to tame those bushes and small trees. You should get the wood chipper attachment when you can. And this DR Field and Brush mower sure looks easy to use. So I guess a tractor is next Jason.🤞😉
You sure are mowing a lot of food down. Couple goats couple of pigs They'll clear it for you just need a Hot wire fence.
I am really not even putting a dent in it. I need to clear a pathway for the hot wire.
If only they would make a tiller attachment, you would have made , Jason. So proud for you. Your "smile" in every video shows what a happy & proud homesteader/farmer you are, sir. Keep up the great work.
Brutus is a great addition to your tools and he is a real hard working machine. Cleared land looks great. 💞
That is so excellent seeing you with a new machine that is helping you ‘sow your land’!!! Just marvelous of DR Power Equipment!!!
I have a DR walk behind. 3rd gear is crazy. You practically have to run it is moving so fast.
What great timing… ours just arrived on Monday. Took us a long time to decide. This makes me feel more confident about the purchase! 😅
Have fun!
I could do with one of them on my land in Portugal don’t suppose they sell them in the UK I bet they’re very expensive I’ll have to win the lottery 😊 I just checked them out and thy in U.K. but my name address phone number. I don’t really want to give that out
Love you guys learning a lot and wish we could meet you in person but miles away in ireland! How are Lorraine's bees doing?
Remember to use face screen! It's NOT like you are sitting in a $75,000 KUBOTA.
I'm sure that will help out alot! Congrats!
Yes it will
How do you go about getting DR Power Equipment to send you one of these amazing machines? I’m working 80 acres with a tiny riding mower and it just isn’t working! Sincerely desperate! Thanks in advance for any guidance!
you need some goats. Hey which field and brush model is that (by price)? Man I want one so badly!!! I have the walk behind trimmer, but it's no good in the field. I have a lot of dry, tall brush (dead goldenrod), and it just shreds the line and pulls them out of their sockets. I gotta get me one a those field and brush mowers (till I get my tractor!)
This maching is a beast. With your humidity, sunshine, hot temperatures and rainy season the brush and bramble grow so fast. Take care.
Wonderful tool!
Nature abhors a vacuum, the struggle is real I feel your pain . Brutus got your six though! Or rather your twelve o'clock In actuality 😅 keep up the good work I love your channel
You probably will have to consider spraying your fence line
Idk why I find it kinda funny that I’ve done stuff like this with my push mower, idk if that’s a good thing or I was abusing my machine but it lasted me for years
Wow, Brutus us a beast. Nice.
What kind of brush/vines is that towards the end? I live in northern europe, we don't have any native vining things like that.
Jason, it was a blessing to have such a beast of a tool to help keep the lines cleared. It is much better than doing it all by hand. Work is involved but the payoff is worth it. Keep up the good work Jason.
Man get a tractor.
That is awesome!! I saw your forestry mulcher video and i hired a guy to come out for a day. Cleared all my frncelines on my 5 acres!! Best thing i ever did!! Now i need permanent perimeter fencing. But for now ill get a couple more premier one nets
Jason, where did you get those boots? I see you wore it for a long time so it must be comfortable. Like to get me a pair.
How have you fared with hitting rocks? It seems like I'm a rock farmer sometimes with how many rocks we have on our property.
I reckon you should design a little single axle trailer that you can hitch on the back and stand on or have a high rise seat on and save your legs. Walking is great exercise but having the option to sit or stand and be towed by it would be great. Beast of a machine, love it.
JASON could build this part Paton it and sell to this company. What an Honor. Jason and his father in law are an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE of GREAT GUYS. Very honest FAMILY.
Try using herbicide (eraser max or 40+% vinegar with salt and soap) along the fence line
When you're cutting down the saplings how close to the ground did it cut the sapling trunk? Just wondering if there were still stubs above ground.
