We're going to dive into the world of narcissistic parents.
It's a tough topic to talk about, but it's important to recognize the signs and understand how they can affect us.
Simply put, narcissists can greatly affect our mental and emotional well-being. It's not easy to spot these people, as they subtly make us feel unworthy and insecure, even depressed. And when the narcissist happens to be a parent, it's even harder to deal with. That's why it's crucial to recognize the subtle signs of a narcissist so we can prioritize our mental health.
So if you have a feeling that something is not quite right with your parent's behavior, stick around because we're going to uncover the truth.
To start with, here's a hard truth.
One of the first encounters people usually have with narcissism is through their parents.
We often hear more about narcissistic fathers in discussions, but the influence of a narcissistic mother can be incredibly profound to a child. Since mothers are often the primary caregivers in many families, it means they interact more with a child. If a mother is narcissistic, the effects of her interaction with her child can be even more significant.
This focus on narcissistic mothers comes from the sheer impact they have on their children. Meanwhile, narcissistic fathers often get a pass because they are typically authoritarian and excessively controlling. So, people attribute their narcissistic behavior as 'just the way they are' because they believe that's just how fathers are. In reality, these fathers have crossed the line that separates normal parental behavior and the manifestation of narcissism.

That "that's just the way they are," flows through the workplace too. It's utterly disgusting.

It’s best to just get away from them. Terrible parents, terrible grandparents.

My husband is a narcissist and so is his mum (& dad a bully also).
For all the years of abuse I had to contend with from his awful parents....all the many vile things they said to me.... every time my husband would say "that's just how they are"...(His reason for their abusive treatment of me).
Years later I'm aware and keep my distance and my children away from them. Narcissists are truly vile.

Both my neighbours are narcissistic parents. The bully their children and I caught one bullying her middle child in public with no shame and her daughter stood there crying and her mother smirked like the evil smirk seeing her daughter in pain. I felt for that child but I distance myself because of what she did to me for showing kindness. So I stayed away. My ex baby daddy is a covert narcissist and has no bond with our child. No contact

    Heeelll nah
    Both of them narcissists
I kicked them out of my life the amount of abuse was unbearable, both toxic, both abusive, physical, mental, verbal, controlling, manipulating
I kicked them out, i haven't spoke with my "mother" for almost 10 years and with my "father" 3 years
But i kept my ties with all other family members especially with my brother
I still love them all but not those 2
