Very few things are more entertaining than a polished, professional, funny storyteller. Well done, Mr. King.....

Alan King came from my old Brooklyn neighborhood, Williamsburg. He was of the prior generation than mine, but the humor from him and another native, Mel Brooks, makes me proud to have grown up and lived for 65 years in my old hometown.

On New Year's Eve, he'd host a show called "Alan King Looks Back in Anger" , a humorous summary of the year's misadventures.
The audience, too young to remember him on TV, watching and reacting to a master at work. Mind blown 🤯

One of the great alltime bits from a professional, very talented comedian.

    Brilliant Absolutely Brilliant
Alan King, a legend one of the greatest comedian's to ever grace the stage.
King had several skits that were pure comedic genius up there with the magnificent "who's on first" skit.
Wow is the world in desperate need of a comedy legend of this caliber.....

The obituary bit was, of course, one of the all-time greatest routines. But, Alan King had many others. I still remember one joke from his "insurance" routine. He talks about getting in an accident with his car and takes it to the insurance company where a guy looks at the side of the car and says, "Well, that doesn't look too bad." Whereupon King answered, "No, you're right. It doesn't. Now, do you want to look at the side that got hit?"

The bit I remember is one about flying to LA to do a show and his luggage was lost ... haven't found it on RUclips. Punchline goes something like, "but my tuxedo had a great vacation in Hawaii!"

Through the curse of videotape and youtube, you can see King do this exact same bit a year or two earlier, with the exact same obits, at Carnegie Hall. Not just a random reading of obits, but a practiced routine. and a great one.

The one thing you don't know about the 104 year old is whether that was a 2nd wife and he outlived the 1st one. The last "Civil War widow" was actually a young woman who had married a Civil War vet when he was a very old man. She was _born_ 50 years after the Civil War was over.
